- High Ridge, MO, USA • Feb 16, 2024

Received letter in the mall asking me to call their number to receive factory warranty on a car I don’t, and never have, owned. They used my name, but abbreviated.

- Paradise Valley, AZ, USA • Feb 14, 2024

The letter looks like a time sensitive and urgent matter and need to call and provide VIN number of my car. It made it so urgent that if I do not call in time I will loose coverage.

The main purpose of this letter is selling coverage of automotive insurance, but it sounded like the receiver violated some rules if I do not respond ASAP.

Government allows these warranty scammers to scrape info about car and personal ID.

Got a note in the mail with my name, car model, vin, looks like serious business.

"Final Notice" (scary) "our records indicate you have not contacted us" (why would i) "you are receiving this notice because your warranty has or is about to expire" (car is 3 month old) "by neglecting to activate your coverage" (action needed) "we reserve the right to revoke your eligibility" (revoke what?) "call within 5 days" (urgency!)

- Houston, TX, USA • Feb 03, 2024

A FINAL NOTICE letter requesting VIN and Mileage or my vehicle warranty as they have the right to revoke my vehicle warranty. I have a brand new 2024 vehicle under 1000 miles so I knew this was probably a scam and not a required registration for legitimate factory warranty.

No return address or business name on envelope or letter. The only company identifier was in body of letter which was: VEHICLE SERVICES DIVISION on top and RICHARD THOMAS PROGRAM COORDINATOR with signature and 800 number at bottom of letter.

- Waco, TX, USA • Jan 22, 2024

Received a letter final notice). Gives no address, signed Richard Thomas, program coordinator, our customer ID YZA9613899, call their phone number before 1/31/2024 and give ViN and current mileage, they know we bought a 2021 Toyota. “Your factory warranty has expired or may be about to expire.” “You still may have time left to activate coverage on your vehicle before it’s too late. Final acceptance is subject to your ability to meet eligibility requirements.” Mon-Fri 7am- 8:00 pm cst and Saturday 10-4pm cst. I did not call

- Charlottesville, VA, USA • Jan 19, 2024

Letter titled Final Notice, indicated that my factory warranty has or may expire.

This is my first and last notice to get coverage within the next 5 days. No return address, company name, or email address. Just a name, title, and 1-800 number.

Out of curiosity I called and was greeted by someone named Omar who said “thank you for calling Phoenix Protect”

I pretended like he had just called me and acted confused to see what he would tell me. He then asked if I had received a letter in the mail, I said “I don’t know about a letter, you called me” which was obviously untrue and then he just hung up.
