The scammer contacted me through a text message like any other company, offering me an interview through the Microsoft app. After the interview, they told me that I was hired, I sent all my personal information by email, and then they explained everything to me about the payments. from the company, duties, they offered me to buy the computer, printer, and telephone equipment, and they said they would send me a check for 4829, by FedEx, when I received the check they asked me to deposit it, I deposited it in my account, the bank told me that I could buy the equipment and use the money the next day, I suppose to start working this Monday. They contacted me and asked me to deposit the money to the seller, a personal account. I didn't realize it was a scam because they assured me that the person where I was going to deposit it worked for them as a seller. I have the information of the account where I deposited.

First of all, I got an email from this company for the "Assistand Video Editor (REMOTE)" position, which is similar to the LinkedIn Easy Apply jobs I had been applying to (this is what I assume they got my email from). I tried to find the receipts in my emails for the jobs I applied for, and I couldn't find a receipt from this company (red flag #1). Then, I proceeded to schedule an interview with them (they had me schedule it either that same day or the next day). They said "This virtual screening test/interview is online through email correspondence and Skype. You are to immediately contact the Senior Vice President, Legal & Admin Melinda Lackey at her Skype to conduct the interview." So, there was a link to the Skype contact link, which I thought was odd considering Skype isn't used as often in the job interview process compared to Zoom and Microsoft Teams from my experience. On top of that, they were making me email another email, rather than responding to that same email, to schedule the interview. The emails did look a bit off, as they told me to contact Melinda at "[email protected]". I didn't think that the Senior Vice President would have the an alaunoshr attachment to the email ID. From there, I looked up to see if anyone else had similar experiences just based on the email and email IDs, and I found the same experience listed on this ScamPulse.com scam tracker, so I decided to not proceed further with the interview and decided to ghost. Some other odd things that may have been flags was that after I scheduled an interview for 12PM CST, the email response was "12PM tomorrow has been confirmed! Kindly get in touch with me on Skype at your earliest convenience once you are ready to proceed with the interview screening." But, there's a slight contradiction with "at your earliest convenience" and "12PM tomorrow." Then, on the day of the interview, the email response repeated "Kindly get in touch with me on Skype once you are ready to proceed with the interview screening so that we can proceed without any delay." And the email formatting was a bit off as well.

I was contacted via email from an email address [email protected] stating to be from the HR department contacting me to see if I was interested in having an interview for a position that I had applied for allegedly our LinkedIn. The description was for a video editor similar to other job applications I had submitted tocompanies on LinkedIn. In the past I agreed to set up an interview for. , Arius companies are LinkedIn in the past I agreed to set up a interview for this job position and was told to contact Melinda Lackey at Skype to set up a time. After setting up a time to speak with Melinda Lackey I was given a time of 10 AM Wednesday, October 19, 2023. The entire interview was conducted via chat on Skype. No voices were exchanged. No phone numbers were exchanged at all upon answering several short questions. Several minutes later, I was given this job offer of a junior video editor with a $35 an hour rate for 40 hours a week with $20 an hour for training. Upon further conversation I was then told that I would be sent a check to purchase specific equipment for this position and then was given a list again through chat stating various different items, specifically items that are not needed for video editor at all , upon further pressing of why I needed to purchase the equipment myself and not just be sent the equipment. I was given a very vague answer of why they believe it would just be easier for people to the equipment on their own, and then end up owning it after 12 to 6 weeks of working with this company , I went to LinkedIn and searched up. Melinda Lackey sent her a message asking if this was a legitimate thing however, upon further investigation, there is no contact information that was given on the HR email or for human resources Melinda Lackey is claimed to be head of legal for this company yet there is no other contact information to get a hold of anyone in recruitment or anyone in this position for this company prior I have saved all of the chat correspondence as well with screenshots because I feel like this was a scam, especially when the equipment that was listed that I needed to purchase for a video editor position, included things like several printers, copiers and card readers. Those are not things that you need in order to produce a video .
