Apple Support Reports & Reviews (86)

I had a robo caller call me saying they were from apple support and someone had got into my account and attempted to make a $495 charge. They then asked if I had any messages on my phone about a password reset. I checked my phone and there was a pop up that asked if I will allow password reset. I clicked “don’t allow” and the pop up came back one more time. I again clicked “don’t alllow.” This made the calller very believable until he tried to get me to download some kind of software in my settings search bar. I told him I was hanging up and calling apple. Then I researched and found it was a scam and there were no charges to my apple account. The caller had an accent like he was from India.

Scammer called our elderly mother claiming to be Apple Support. He stated her I Phone had 79 hackers in China and Russia. He told her to get rid of the hackers he needed her to purchase 2 $500.00 Target gift from a specific location. He then instructed her to provide the number on the back of each gift card. He told her that she would need to take the gift cards into the Apple Store and they would reimburse her. He then told her this got rid of 2 of the scammers. He told her not to tell anyone. This was repeated multiple times over an approximately 36 hour period. She purchased 29 Target gift cards at $500.00 each for a total of $14,500.00. When I spoke with her the next morning and learned what was happening we filed a report with the local police. Of note she used one credit card that put a hold on the card after $1000.00 was charged. However the second credit card company (PNC) did not put a hold on the card and allowed these unusual charges for a total of $13,500. We were very disappointed that PNC allowed these alarming purchases to continue. The scammer knew the right words to say to my mother to convince her that he was “helping” her. She was really concerned about the hackers. She reluctantly shared with me because she told me she was going to stop by and see me because she was going to the Apple Store on Monday and I asked her why she needed to go to Apple. This has been an eye opening experience for all of us and we want to share this story to prevent it from happening to others.

Received a robo call claiming to be Apple Support. It stating that there my there had been attempts to login to my account. Then said my financial records were at risk. Then it said "press 1" to talk to someone. After pressing "1", a man with an Indian accent began talking. Knowing it was a scam, I asked were they were located. He said his name was "Justin", and they were located somewhere in California. I then said 'Yeah, I don't think this is Apple Support". Then I hung up and reported the scam to Apple Support. They thanked me and said that it was indeed a Phishing Scam.

Unlisted on callerID w/ phone number 800-275-2273 automated system recording stating with Apple Support and AppleID may be compromised and being used for identity theft... press 1 to be connected immediately or callback to speak with Apple Support at 855-737-0767...

My daughter and I received calls almost back to back from “apple tech support “ claiming our information had been compromised. It was a pre recorded voice asking us to press 1 for more assistance. Neither of us did and both just hung up. I contacted apple support to be sure and sure enough we were both fine.

I received several calls from this number (408-606-5775) with an automated message stating there was a security breach in my icloud account and to press 1 to be connected to Apple Support. I did and the call was answered by a man who asked if I was traveling this week (which I was) and if I had been in Michigan or Texas. I had not been to either of those states. He asked if I had downloaded any apps (I had downloaded an airline app). He then asked which device I usually use to access my icloud account. I said my phone. He said he would need me to login to my icloud account on my computer so he could remotely access my computer and the threat. That's when I got suspicious and said I do not do that when I receive a call and that I would rather lookup the apple support number online and call myself. He said you can see that the phone number is caller IDd as Apple Support (which it was and was why I even picked up the phone). But I was still not comfortable allowing remote access to my computer. After I hung up I googled the phone number and found on this site it was a scam. He even called again as I was reading this information. Pretty bold.

They told me that some hackers have my information and they have to lower the money security limit. Something similar to that... and they said to me to go to the closest store to buy a gift card GameStop and to add $350.

They said they needed more money and at the end when they got the money they closed the phone.

Thank you,

Scammer refers to Apple phone with Cloud that is being compromised. Need to press 1 to speak to tech support. Has been calling for 2 days with 3-4 calls per day. I did not respond to any any of the call - I listened got phone number and hung up.

Emails are being sent to notify of purchases through "Apple"-if you go to the page-they want your Social Security number to verify your account!!

We get multiple calls a day from a company claiming to be from apple support notifying us that our apple computer has been compromised. They then ask us to press one to be contacted to a representative who then wants our apple ID. In two days we have had nine calls and each one showed a different phone number. I did contact their representative and told him to never call this number again but it had no effect.

If I can't stop this I will have to disconnect my land line phone. Please help.

I was looking for the apple customer service line, and came across the number 1-855-522-0787. I was inquiring about a charge that was on my bank statement from iTunes. The man I spoke with sent me an apple ID verification code to "access my account". After that, he said that the charge was from a Soundcloud subscription, that was from a server in Austin. He then told me that my account had been compromised, and that it was being accessed from servers in multiple cities. The cities he named were all locations I have visited in the last 2 years, so I believed him. He told me to call back when I could deal with the issue at 1-800-822-4479. When I called back, he then said that I needed to purchase a $100 iTunes card, and give him the number so that he could use it to disconnect from the server. He assured me that the money would be refunded to my account immediately. I purchased the card at Walgreens, at *** *** *** *** *** **. I then gave him the code. He then said that he could only disconnect from the apple devices, and that I would need to get a $500 Google Play gift card to disconnect from android devices. He also said that it would only do 2, and he needed 2 $500 cards. I said I could only do one. He said that he had a code for the other 2. I again, went to the Walgreens, got the card, and gave him the number. He was then saying it wasn't working and he needed another. I told him that I had no more money, and could not do that. I then wanted my refund. He then transferred me. That man "Mark Pierce" said he was "working on it". At one point he said that he did refund the $100 to my account, and it would be there in 15-20 minutes. I stayed on the line for a very long time. He then said that I needed to give them another card for $500, or I got nothing. I said no, and said that I was driving to the apple store, because this felt like a scam. He said that it was not, and asked if I could borrow the money from anyone. I then said that I wanted my money back now, and he hung up on me. I had been on the phone for 1 hour and 11 minutes. I called back multiple times, and the continually hung up on me. All men had east Indian accents.

I was surfing the net and got a pop-up that said my computer was infected with spyware and to call 845-478-9855 for a fix. They wanted to charge me $299 for a 1-year firewall protection, or $699 for lifetime protection. I stupidly game them access to my computer, so I could see that they had my SS number, bank ID name and various passwords. They all had Asian accents and there was a lot of background noise, as of many people working the same scam. When I caught on that this was a scam, they became nasty and aggressive. In the process, they installed malware on my computer. The REAL Apple Support helped me straighten it all out.

Got an email from Apple support claiming that I spent 300 on my Apple ID. I even interrogated my kid. It’s an invoice for games that I supposedly bought.

i get this scam ALL the time as they never keep track of what numbers they call. They pretend to be from Apple support using 1-800-694-7466 or 1-833-610-7222 or many other numbers. i know it’s the same group of people as when i answer (or call them back) they recognize my number and start using 4 letter words as they know that i know it’s a scam as i’ve called them on it. why does this same group never get caught? don’t fall for it! they will try to get you to buy itunes cards to try and “fix” a problem you don’t have. they also even have a phone number that comes up when you google “Apple customer service” so make sure you’re REALLY talking to Apple.

I received a alert message from Apple Support while I was on my new IPHONE while I was checking the weather. The Alert message said that my internet was being hacked. Press the button to contact Apple Support. While on the phone they want me to logged him on my home desk top computer so they can tracked dow the hackers. Then they wanted me to leave the house and buy a $300.00 ITUNE card at walmart and call him back. At first he want me to keep him on line while I go and get the card. I looked up Apple Support on line and called them to find out if it was really apple support. And it was not.

I have received numerous phone calls from an automated calling system saying there is suspicious activity on my iCloud account. It gives a phone number to call them back (646)217-4814. I have returned their calls four times in hope of getting my name removed from their calling list. Every time I call I get the same foreign speaking guy and when I ask to speak to a supervisor he states that he is a supervisor. So each time I call I try to explain to him that I do NOT own an apple device and that I do NOT have an iCloud account. He tries to get personal information from me and when I keep telling him my situation, all he does is tell me to hang up the phone then. This is getting ridiculous and in my opinion borders on harassment.

This phone number showed up in google search as Apple support. The technician stated that our account had been hacked and hay there were 25 people fraudulently using our account to make purchases. He then tries to convince me to buy an iTunes card to block the hackers. The whole thing seemed fishy to begin with. When he asked me to buy a refundable iTunes card for the security number on the back, I hung up.

- Gulf Breeze, FL, USA

I googled Apple Support contact number because I needed to get help with my sons phone. The man said his name was Jonathan and told me I had to purchase iTunes card worth $50 and it would be refunded to me after I spoke to his billing manager. After I gave him the codes on the cards totaling $50 he then transferred me to another man who tried to tell me I had to purchase another card for $100. I knew then I definitely had been scammed. I hung up when the man got loud and rude with me. He tried to call me and my son back. My son spoke to him and had a heated conversation ending with the man cursing him. I was able to get my money back by calling Apple gift card support.
