They introduced themselves and then asked if I could hear them. After saying "yes" they proceeded to say they were from a cruise line. A new number (I'm assuming since it's a similar number, 623-207-6531) has been calling me many times this morning, I have not answered but I'm assuming they are attempting to continue with the scam and demand money. No messages have been left.

- Lithia Springs, GA, USA

answer the phone and they say "can you hear me now, caller?" repeatedly.

- Marietta, GA, USA

A call trying to get me to say yes three times before hanging up. It is a robo call, prerecorded.

- Hartwell, GA, USA

Someone called and said they heard I had been having back problems, then they said, "can you hear me?" Without thinking, I said yes. (I had water pipe burst and did not think about the scam so I fell for it) I was told this was a scam and they would take your yes answer and put it with a question about buying something and have you recorded as saying yes to the purchase or donation. I was only saying yes I could hear them when the person called from this number. Please help me!!!!

Said his name was Joe and ask if I could hear him. Like an [censored] I answered yes. Then they hung up.

- Cincinnati, OH, USA

I have been getting calls for weeks (since middle of March 2017). The following are phone numbers I have taken down 513-273-1685 on 4-3-17 and 513-796-6782 on 4-4-17, and 513-622-9634 on 4-5-17 and 513-452-5048 on 4-7-17. It says hi this is Joe and it cuts out for a half second, and it says I am on a recorded line, can you hear me, and then I hang up. Occasionally, we get one from a lady named Brooke. They sound very American.

- Adairsville, GA, USA

When I answered the phone after saying hello there was a noise and she said "can you hear me" I replied saying "yes" then she went on to inform me that I had won a online drawing that I entered. I have not entered any drawings so I said remove me from your list and hung up. My mother was next to me and informed me that is a phone scam. I found this link on Clark Howard's website to report it.

all I know is my husband got a can you hear me now cell phone call last night

Received a call tonight 4/5/17 at 8:45 pm eastern standard time. I said hello. He said "hello". The emphasis on his hello went up at the end. Looking back, considering the time he called which was aggravating and the emphasis on his "hello"...which suggested do you hear me, I said yes. My intent was the tell the caller not to call my house at that time of the evening and to take me off their list. After I said yes, he immediately hung up. It was then that I had a sinking feeling that this was probably a scam. There was not information exchanged.

- Monroe, GA, USA

Robocall designed to trick person called into saying "Yes" at the beginning. Went on to offer deep discount on trip to Orlando.

- Duluth, GA, USA

The person on the other end is clearly automated, however, the person pauses to ask "can you hear me?"

I've been hearing about these scams, where they ask "yes" or "no" questions in an attempt to get a recorded answer and use the agreement to sign you up for a product or service and then demand payment. Unfortunately, I said "yeah' then immediately realized it was automated after. They introduce a "cruise line" offer. Which I immediately hung up after.

- Lilburn, GA, USA

Got a phone call requesting information that lead me to say "yes" and then hung up.

- Gilbert, AZ, USA

Scammer called and said he was "from the customer service department" and then asked if I could hear him. Unfortunately I said "yeah" before realizing that it could be a scam. He then proceeded to tell me that I had been entered in a sweepstakes for a free stay at a resort. At that point I hung up the phone.
