Coastal Subscription Agency Reports & Reviews (23)

Door to door solicitor, dishonest about the cause and the information online was little to none. Obviously a scam website, I am not even looking for a refund just to cancel and delete my "account" and if I was looking for a refund I would be livid. The details make it impossible to refund, and as far as I can tell there is no way to cancel your account.

what a scam, wonder what malicious things they are doing with all these poor people's money and information.

We know we have been “had”, but at time of purchase, felt we could provide our grand & great grandkids with a resourceful & ongoing gift, Highlights For Kids. And, help a few enterprising (?) young people willing to work towards a better future.

To this date, no magazines have been received, & all attempts to contact Coastal have proved fruitless. Email messages fail to send, due to invalid address. Customer service form, finally located, for subscription inquiries contained rude disclaimer, located just to left of “submit” button, in tiny letters, indicating that by clicking submit, we agreed to absurd regulation & receipt of ongoing ridiculous emails .

As reported, we know we’ve been had, to the tune of $144.00. Beware!

I also find it disconcerting, that when contacting Highlights, directly, to advise that their good reputation was being used in this scam, and to verify, if indeed, our subscription had been submitted, the only response I could get was a “chat” with Tanya, who advised we should be patient, that holidays, co-vid & postal deliveries had slowed the process. And, if we didn’t see anything by end of May, please try again!?! Doesn’t exactly give one much confidence, I would say.

I also suffered from this scam, I am a student myself at a Washington college living with my dear widowed mother, with what ever money my father left for my college. The sales person came up to me one day stating she enrolled in a competition from a prestige society of potential leaders stated that she need to sell magazines to win a trip. I couldn't say no because I was felling sympathetic, I wanted to make a small donation, but when she explain she can only take money in payment of a magazine I payed for the least expensive magazine on the broacher. She even stated that she may email me to go on that trip with her: that's when I figured out that it was a sham. I'm starting to believe that she may be in on the sham the entire time. I didn't want to believe it though, she left a sticker on my door to tell other representatives that I bought from the house, obviously this was to tell them don't sell at this house. She said she knew my wonderful neighbors, but I bet she tried to scam them first and is using my neighbors names to premote her scam. I want to believe she doesn't know what she's doing, that her herself is being scammed as well but after I used my birthday money on this supposed student I may never open my door to another one of these ever again. Don't fall for it, don't listen to there sad stories of working hard for a living, we all work hard for a living. I hope to get my comeuppance with these people very soon, I spend 59$ on a donation.

Purchased a magazine subscription from a door to door saleswoman with a sob story about needing to hit sales goals for education/tuition. Magazines never arrived. Sent money through zelle so I have no recourse to recoup that money.

Here is the number for this company that you guys can try to contact.

I don’t wanna say everyone on this page is wrong but I used to work for this company and my manager is a very good guy. When he gets orders he makes it his mission to get it to you but that being said he also can’t watch his employers all day and sometimes a bad worker comes along and ruins it for everyone. I’ve met workers who’ve stolen checks with erasable pens, or if someone gave them cash they kept it. We don’t allow donations yet kids ask anyways. Most of us were trying to get to college and where we grew up we didn’t get that opportunity. Our boss not just gave us the opportunity he gave us a chance to explore the country and be kids. Some of us took advantage but don’t blame the company for a bad employee who trust me got fired and sent home if caught.

Exact same story as above. A young girl came to my door with a sad story “Starving student type deal” Selling Subscription’s to magazines to “pay her way through school”. Had legitimate looking receipts and a laminated form with options. Seemed like a sweet girl. The ONLY reason I purchased the magazine was to help out the girl that was it. I didn't need the magazine. I wrote a check out over 4 months ago and it cleared our account. Never received one magazine and when I try to contact company through their “Email system” on the contact us tab no one ever gets back to us. We are out $59.00 and I will never trust another door to door salesman or sales woman again. This company is a scam!

Total scam. They hire young people (supposedly college students) to tell a sob story and sell magazines which never get delivered. Don't fall for their act. These "students" may not even realize they are part of the scam. Travel Magazine $59.

I recently had an experience with a male and female solicitor who came to my home and neighborhood. My husband answered the door at the time and was asked several personal questions such as his name, what he does for a living, and where he works. Unfortunately, he was unfamiliar with best practices in dealing with solicitors, answered their questions, and gave them some personal information he shouldn’t have. Once they began to make their final sales pitch is when I stepped in and let them know we were uninterested. The male solicitor became verbally combative, but no crime was committed.

After the experience, I rewatched our doobell camera video and realized they never mentioned their names or the organization they represented. I shared the video from my doorbell camera to the Nextdoor App for my neighborhood and nearby neighborhoods. Many neighbors commented and mentioned similar negative experiences with rude behavior from the same solicitors or other solicitors of the same group, but one woman actually made a purchase and shared the organization’s name.

The organization is Coastal Subscription Agency, LLC. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) this organization is not accredited by them, and they were sent a letter on February 1, 2017 to cease their door-to-door solicitations. The company has not yet responded to BBB. The company also has a series of negative reviews from consumers who felt scammed after purchase of a magazine. They did not receive the magazine subscription they paid for, and even after several attempts, they were also unable to get their requests for a refund processed through the company itself.

Due to these experiences and discoveries, I am filing this report so that ScamPulse.com can take the appropriate action to help protect consumers from being scammed by these solicitors from Coastal Subscription, LLC. Thank you for your time.

I ordered 2 magazine subscriptions from a door-to-door salesman on 1/10/19. I later received a letter from Coastal Subscription Agency, LLC dated 2/18/19 indicating 1 of my magazine orders was unable to be fulfilled. They did not offer reimbursement, but instead provided a special offer to choose 3 magazines from a list of 18 at no additional cost. None of the magazines interest me, and I wrote the company several times via their website indicating my disappointment and request for reimbursement. I have not received a response, nor have I received the 2nd magazine I ordered.

2 college aged boys came to my door on 6/30 saying they were raising money for a trip to Paris. Each magazine they sold equaled a certain number of points and the more points they got the more likely they were going to get to go to Paris. I bought *** *** for $44. They said they’d match me. So I wrote a check for $44 to CSA and the receipt says quantity 2 for $89 (should say $88 im guessing) anyway, the receipt says to wait 120 days. It has been almost 5 months now and still no magazine has showed up. The money was taken from my checking account 7/14. I went to the company website and there is no phone number. I filled out the contact form twice and no reply.

I have now had 4-5 young adults come to my door over the past 3 years trying to sell me fraudulent magazine subscriptions. The subscriptions are fraudulent because they only take cash or check and do not provide any receipt, invoice, or written guarantee of the delivery. The BBB has over 50 complaints against this company not fulfilling orders. However, I am mostly concerned about the young people that this business is "employing". I had a very long conversation with the most recent young man who seems to be stuck in a situation that sounds like it could be a form of human trafficking. This company posts jobs on craigslist and attracts young adults in crisis situations who are looking to better themselves, then purchases bus tickets for them to immediately move across the country away from any support network and houses them in hotels with groups of people, paying them in cash. Something besides fraudulent magazine sales is going on here and the safety of these vulnerable young adults concerns me greatly. I believe the youths themselves are being scammed with a fraudulent employment/travel opportunity and end up in a terrible situation.

A young man was going door to door claiming he was from a local high school and in a fund raising competition race. If he won he would get to travel to France where he could learn some cooking arts and then come back and go to cordon bleu in Portland to become a chef. He got double points if I gifted to a child. We wanted me to select two subscriptions but I only chose one. He filled out this receipt form which after handed and he took off I saw it was improperly filled out and quantity was incorrect. The business print on the form did state it was for a contest with trip points but stated in no way is it related to non-profit or charitable organizations, donation, sponsorship or scholastic program. I decided to call the high school where I spoke to the schools officer who stated there was no form of contest or fundraiser going on.

The salesperson came to my door claimed to be a high school student. She said her name was Rebecca Sells, living down the street from me, and that she's selling these magazine subscriptions to get points for her leadership program that will also send her on a trip abroad to Hawaii. I placed an order march 24 2017 i gave her a check for $59. Waited. waited. waited and waited

I emailed customer service (8/10/2017) about not receiving my order after the 120 days the receipt said to wait to get my first order. NO response from company. Today is November 18 2017, I have not received anything from them.

A teenager approached us with printed materials selling magazine subscriptions to help young, troubled children. The subscriptions were over priced but said they went for a good cause. I was skeptical but he had enough printed materials to make it seem legitimate. He stated that the more he gets in cash the more credit he would personally receive for selling the subscription. We have not received any magazines and neither have our neighbors that fell for the same scam.

Coastal Subscription Agency.

Door to door sales; two high school age kids, claiming to be selling subscriptions to obtain a trip. Whole sob story: told me they had been referred by my neighbor, asked what I do, classic phishing but in person.

Gave a check, discovered the rate was hyperinflated, read reviews, realized I had been taken.

Filled out cancellation notice immediately, followed CSAs cancellation process to the letter (cancel within three business days, before midnight). Just got my letter back, return to sender, unable to forward. Now have the expense of cancelling check, establishing credit monitor, possibly have to open another checking account.

Suggest anyone encouters this type of high pressure, sob story nonsense, slam the door, and if they persist, call the cops.

100% scam

Door to door salesman selling magazine subscriptions. Order completed 7/1/16, have yet to receive a magazine. No response from the online contact form, no phone number provided.

Scammer is a magazine company with no phone number to reach them. A salesman came to my house and I paid $60 for 1yr. Subscription. That was in July and no magazine yet. I had moved and wrote an email to them changing my address, I received an email back saying thank you and that they updated my address/account. But still no magazine, can I get my money back?

Young people go door to door selling magazine subscriptions to support them in their education. Consider it a donation. You never receive magazines. For example: subscription to Snowboard costs $59. Trailer Life $65.
