Comcast/Xfinity - Imposter Reports & Reviews (76)

- Canton, GA, USA

Facebook has several online yard sell sites and a young lady who claimed to be employed by Comcast (her name was Shania Edwards out of Ringgold, GA) advertised a work from home position for Comcast. As a retiree, I thought it would be a perfect position for me to relieve boredom. I responded and she told me to open a "hangout" account and get back with her. I did so and I was connected to a Bernard Hart who also claimed to be with Comcast. We went through an interview process online and he began telling me about sending a mastercard to purchase equipment (even sent a picture of a Comcast requisition showing what to buy and how much it would be). I stopped right there and began asking questions. That's when they both stopped sending messages. Neither of them ever responded again. I reached out to Comcast today to ask if this was legitimate or, as I assumed, a scam. They said they never do anything like this. I gave them my name, address, phone and email but that is all. Others may be responding to this so I wanted to let you know about it.

Got a call from a person claiming they were from Comcast saying I had un-returned equipment. They asked me to verify my information but I had them read what they had on file which was my address name and phone number. They then asked me to read the bar codes off my router to verify the equipment. I did not give them that information and ended the call. I called Comcast and they let me know that the number that called me was not apart of comcast and I do not have any un-returned equipment and the call was a scam.

Got a recorded call from "Comcast Xfinity" offering me a deal for $79.99/mo. Hit 1 if I'm interested.

Caller ID said Memphis - (901) 333-6864. Called it back after the initial call and got some hard to understand message that basically said no one's available

Hit 1 and got connected to a guy with an accent I could barely understand. He ultimately transferred me to Daniel (obviously a crook) with an only slightly easier to understand accent. Here's my great deal:

$79.99/mo for Internet, phone, and cable for two years. I would also get premium channels - HBO, Showtime and others - and NetFlix.

I need to call Comcast Billings to prepay the first four months ($320). I wouldn't get another bill until after that.

It's a promotion sponsored by ebay to create awareness of their eBay prepaid card. So I need to pay the $320 using an eBay card.

He rattled off the places I could buy it -

Once I buy the card, I'm to call Comcast Billings (888-274-4058), give them my confirmation code (XNF1302) and the eBay card info, and I'm set to go.

This is the first day of the promotion and if I call today, I'll also get a $100 Visa gift card.

Comcast and eBay are also partnering in this promotion to help people during the COVID-19 crisis.

got a call said representing comcast of xfinity they wanted to start my stop service I told them i did not stop svc and am employee they immediately hung up. 516-579-8013 is the number that showed up on my caller id

Received text that they were trying to "deliver the delivery" to me and couldn't and to go to k5smr.info/VYM7pxnRIO ZE Transport. That brought me to a Comcast Infinity page offering a free IPhone 11 if i answered a few quick questions which I did. Unfortunately I gave them my credit card # as the fee was $1.00. They then said the number couldn't go through and to use a different credit card which I did not. email window says "dealspromos.site" or "rewardsprogram.newdaywiz.com". I assume this was a fraudulent way to get my credit card number. I am watching my account but no action so far.

I was called repeatedly by a number that came up on my phone as ATT/Comcast. It was not. It was someone trying to trick me into giving them remote access to my computer. They said someone else was using my IP address and they needed to get in to figure out who. When i questioned them they got mad and made threats to me.

person pretending to be Comcast agent asked questions to get me to say yes and then abruptly hung up.

I got a call from Maryland about Comcast saying I owed them money. I stupidly gave them my ssn number then realized we do not have Comcast 8n Southbridge mass. Now they want a police report, etc

Hounded by this number everyday. Finally answered and the caller posed as comcast/xfinity representative. Asked about current service satisfaction, channels I really enjoy, etc, I answered "NO" several times, but when I answered "yes" to a quaetsion they hung up. Worried about the "Yes" Phishing scam, I called Xfinity to report the mascarade in their name. Comcast confirmed they made no calls to my phone and said they would pass along number to their security folks.

When we called this number to request help with our Comcast email account, they identified themselves as Xfinity customer service. They are NOT associated with Xfinity! We asked repeatedly if they were Xfinity, to which the man helping us got irritated with our questioning ("How many times do I have to tell you - yes, this is Xfinity?!"). We also repeatedly asked if we were going to need to pay for anything, to which he answered, "No." However, after we allowed him access into our computer, he told us the only way to block foreign hackers was to purchase their firewall product. We hung up, shut down the computer, turned it back on a few minutes later, and he was still accessing our computer until we uninstalled the software that loaded on to our computer that allowed him to access it. Later we called a different Xfinity number, and their automated answering machine indicated there was a widespread problem with their email server. We then tried to call their number again, and nobody answered! Do NOT let this group of super techies scam you!

Thank You.

I had a phone call on March 3, 2017 to my personal cell phone at 3:04 p.m from Jessica Rice allegedly with VR Diversified (phone number 720 277 0874) who attempted to scam me for my credit card number. She stated that she was trying to collect money on behalf of Comcast.

When I explained that I felt the solicitation was a scam attempt she persisted that I owed money to Comcast. I said that I did not owe money to Comcast and that I had closed my account in December and had returned all equipment to Comcast ADN that she was attempting to scam me to obtain my credit card information which I would not divulge over the phone under any circumstances.

Your immediate attention in this matter will be appreciated. This type of scam must be dealt with immediately.

On 9-14-2016 I received the following "text" message on my cell phone from Comcast Cable, "DebittCcard Alert for xxxxxx. Contact 844-380-7468"...exactly as typed. I call that number and got an answer from Comcast cable saying they had a special promotion for me. My debit card is issued through my bank and Comcast doesn't know the account number.

This is fraudulent and deceiving in order for me to be alarmed enough to make the call. I am their customer, but I've also opted out of promotional calls and emails.

I've attached the forwarded text to my email so that you could see it.

Thanx, xxx xxxx

I received a call form a gentlemen stating he was with Comcast Xfinity and could lower my bill to $35 a month from its current amount. He stated they were running a new promotion in regards to Comcast partnering with certain banks and such. He mentioned capital one and I responded saying I do have a card with them. he then stated he needed the card number for automatic payment and could add said card to the account. He asked for a lot of information, which unfortunately I gave him thinking nothing of it at the time. Once he asked for the first 5 digits of my SSN; I knew something felt wrong.

I did proceed to give the wrong address but they have my full SSN, Phone Number, Name and Birthday. I called Comcast after and they had no idea what I was talking about. Thinking fast; I immediately canceled my capital one card and put a new password on the account. I don't know exactly what to do to protect the rest of the information they have but I wanted to report it none the less.

Any advice that could help me would be appreciated. I'd like these people reprimanded. Please let this report show on the record that I am stating this incident first and foremost has occurred on January 7th, 2016 at 4:18pm CST by the telephone number 855-793-7671 to my cell phone number Which currently on google has people reporting it as a scam.

Future abnormality's with my information I stated above may be linked with the phone number listed and fraudulent activity with my identity. This includes again my SSN, DOB, Name and Credit Card info (Canceled within 30 mins of above stated call.)

I am supposed to receive a letter/email in regards to this "fake" promotion if anything further happens I continue to file more reports.
