I recently applied for a job, they approved my position and I had to send all my information like SS, direct deposit form and everything because I was going to start the job. After that I stopped everything thinking in scam, but today I received a check for 4990 dollar to buy a laptop, phone and other stuff. Of course im not going to deposit that check.

Antway I called the bank and that back confirmed that, the check has found, and the routing and account number exist.

I applied for a position that was posted on LinkedIn, I immediately received an email response, saying the position had been filled, but, that based on my experience, I was a good fit for another position they had open. A link was provided to schedule an interview with the founder. The link provided to schedule a meeting through a Calendar app, led to a blank page that caused my phone to freeze and required me to restart it before it worked again.

I am currently unemployed and I was looking for jobs through LinkedIn and Indeed. The job came across LinkedIn and I applied for it through Indeed. The "CEO" reached out to me to have me schedule an interview through HR with Microsoft Teams. I went through the interview "process" and was "hired" the next day. I started onboarding with my ID/SSN which is typical of new hires. Then the HR person (William Snyder) informed me that they would be sending me materials needed to work remotely and that he was providing me "money" to purchase a printer/along with a $300 sign-up bonus. When he did not email me a W9 for tax purposes I became suspicious and started researching the company online. I could not find them anywhere, but I knew that I had applied for the position. Then he sent me a check for $4900, I looked up the address on the check to verify the company and it was a Landscaping Company. I called the bank on the check to verify the validity of the check, to find out the check was fraudulent.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am reporting a suspected job scam involving an entity using the name PAWFOODS (or PAWFOODS INC). I initially came across this job listing on Indeed for a remote Customer Service position. The recruiter, identifying himself as David, contacted me via SMS to discuss the position. The company claims to have been “closed for a period” and is now “resuming operations,” but no legitimate business information or employee reviews exist. They promise to provide necessary work equipment but require me to purchase it from a third-party vendor instead of directly supplying it. Payment for the equipment is supposedly handled by the company, but I am expected to contact the vendor, a tactic commonly used in fake check scams. No formal interview process took place—just an informal chat via SMS.

Please let me know if additional information is needed. I appreciate your time and assistance in protecting job seekers from fraudulent employment schemes.

Eric ****** contacted me by text message after I applied to an ad for work at home. He said I would be his personal assistant and that he would be sending equipment and such. The only thing I received was a box of envelopes. He then had me order checks to pay me. He said he was a broker for realtors and also did investments

He told me to write a check to deposit and I did. My bank would not deposit the money as they believed it to be a scam. Eric continued to pressure me to give him my account information or to put him on my account which I refused to do. My bank told me to have Eric himself call and talk to the bank but he never did . My last message to him was that I was not going to continue with the job. I then blocked his number.
