Contacted by a David Jones via email pretending to work for a company called Techy Nest Solutions. Wanted to send me a check for $2,450 to buy equipment needed for the job. No interview etc just that crazy story.

Was contacted by Madhuri Gupta on LinkedIn and asked me not to respond to her job offer via Linked in but via email she provided. I responded to that email and she then responded offering me a data entry position for Amazon Web Services . I expressed my interest and next email they offered me position and told me they would send me check for $2,450 in order to buy equipment needed for the job as well as $250 for my first week of work. I received a cashier’s check in the mail for $2,450 which I didn’t not cash because it seemed fishy. The return name and address on the check listed a company named Shapes Secrets LLC which was strange to me because employer was supposed to be Amazon Web Services. I told Ms Gupta I would not be depositing the check and I never heard back from her which pretty much confirmed my suspicions.

I received an email from my school regarding a paid humanitarian job. I didn't believe it at first but chose to do it because it was sent from my school, making it seem legitimate. I was told to fill out a google form and not long after they emailed me and asked about my address and what bank I used. I was still skeptical and went to research about it but couldn’t find anything. I chose to believe it because the questions they asked seemed “realistic” and it didn’t seem like they were forcing you to tell them your personal info like passwords. I was asked to answer a series of interview questions in the email itself which made no sense, but I had no knowledge about these scams so I moved forward. At this time they asked me to deposit a check that was $948.45. This was before I researched about it and knowing it was a fraudulent check. I went and deposited it and the check went on hold. While this was happening, they wanted me to support the kids at the orphanage by donating $300. I told him I was happy to help but I didn’t have $300 so they asked me to buy a $50 apple gift card instead. $50 was all I had so I went on and did it and gradually I noticed I couldn’t find any details about the person when I searched them up on the company website and I was confused on why my bank was returning the check. I researched and found out about the fake check they used and their terrible spelling and grammar errors became more obvious it was a scam. Looking back the offers seemed too good to be true and I only held on to thinking it was real was because it was from my school and the email was also an email used in my school.

They offered me a job working at a staffing agency and said that I would be making this amount of money an hour. Than went over the job in detail with me and asked if I had any questions and sent me another email explaining what they needed from me to proceed.

They offered me a data entry remote job. They received my social security number,my driver's license, and bank account information.

I initially received and email from Thomas Mark ([email protected]) offering me a fully remote position as a Data Entry Clerk at Fica International, Inc effective 7/29/24. The position required a committment of 10-15 hours per week, with a compensation package including $400 per week with provisions for mileage reimbursement or travel expense reimbursement for any work related travel. He asked if I choose to accept the position, kindly reply to this email with a brief letter of acceptance. I replied stating I am interested in the position, however, I do not have a laptop, just my cell phone. He replied confirming receipt of my acceptance of the offer of Data Entry Clerk. He said my initial task will be a proficiency assignment, allowing me to utilize some of my skills either on or before my start date of 7/29/24. He said the position required the use of a laptop, a printer scanner and licensed application software. He said, to facilitate this, a paycheck of $4,790 will be mailed to you and will cover your first weeks pay of $400 and payment for the work devices (laptop, printer scanner, software, and license). He stated that an independent seller will deliver your laptop, printer scanner, and licensed application software to your provided address once payment has been completed. The purpose of the check is to enable the successfull performance of your duties as these items are essential. He then went on and asked for my name, address, city, state, zip code, and cell phone number. I didn't see anything wrong with providing this information since that exact info is on my resumes which are posted on all sorts of job boards. I then replied with the information he asked for. The most recent email was yesterday (7/14/24) stating they have revised and updated my start date to July 15, 2024 instead of July 29, 2024. He said my first paycheck covering the cost for your work devices and your first weeks pay has been approved by the Accounts department and has been mailed to my address. He provided a USPS Tracking number (9108778209956263565842). So, I went to USPS and entered the tracking number and it show the envelope had been delivered to my mailbox. I then went to my mailbox and there it was. I opened the cardboard mailer and there was a check for $4,790. The weird thing is the return address on the cardboard mailer was Raytheon Woburn, 225 Presidential Way, Woburn, MA 01801. What association does Raytheon have with Fica International and why are they sending me a $4,790 check??? There was even a red stamp from the post office saying "Postage Due". The email went on to say that I will be responsible for making payment to the authorized vendor upon receipt of your first paycheck. He said once your work devices are delivered by the vendor, we will arrange a brief orientation session for you. Folling this, he will send my work email credentials so I can log in set up my password and gain all necessary applications and software for your role. My final step, once I opened the cardboard mailer containing the check, I took the cashiers check to my bank, showed it to the teller and explained to her all what happened leading up to me getting this check. The teller told me authoritatively that this was a scam, ignore everything going forward, and that she would be willing to shred the cashiers check if that's what I want. I gave them permission to shred the check. Now, I wanted to report sll of this to you to see if you agree with my bank that it was indeed a scam

I was contacted via text by Lillian 626-625-0555 then Christina messaged me through WhatApp 530-319-9184. She sent me several messages explaining what the job is that would be done. Walked me through steps to do the job then once completed showed me how to withdraw. Got first withdrawal then next day it seemed easy enough but then I had a “lucky order” that put the balance into a negative which I had a negative $125, which I was told I had to put that in in order to complete my work task. Got one set done but didn’t do a withdrawal cause I had to start the next day with $100. The next day in the first workset I had another lucky order which the negative is $328 need to be out in so I did cause I was like I got my money and I was encouraged to do the amount because I can withdraw the money. Put that in cause now I’m like I have to get my money back, she was telling me how lucky I was. I was still doing the set and got a second lucky order which she told me rarely happens but I had to put the negative of now $1024. I didn’t hear back from her and when I did she said I had to in order to finish the set and I would be in big problem and cause others to be in a congestion but I can withdraw it right away. I pulled money out my account to get it done and right when I got to 39/40 I got another lucky order which the negative was $3605.76 which the frozen amount I’m technically would be able to withdraw was $6384.00. I cried because now I was one away from completing the work task and I was stuck cause I couldn’t out that in to finish. I didn’t hear from Christina. I still haven’t heard back from her. I dont want this to ever happen to anyone else.

I received an email asking me to contact Melissa Graspard via Chatwork. Melissa asked me for my full name, address and email. Melissa wrote that I had to respond to everything with "OKAY". Melissa then provided a summary of the company and benefits. Then listed Knowledge components and in asked if i possessed those. 30 minutes passed with no response from her. I asked general onboarding questions. Again, I received no response. It was nearing end of day, so I texted I would follow up in the morning. The next day the whole chat was deleted.
