They mimicked a legitimate job and a past HR manager. They even sent a check through the legitimate headquarters of the business they were impersonating!

- Palm Harbor, FL, USA • Jul 08, 2024

Said I'd get an $800 week job plus commission after training but had to pay for training

- Leander, TX, USA • Jul 08, 2024

I want to bring attention to my experience with Josh ***** I helped him sell multiple pieces of equipment and also found machines for him to buy, fix, and resell. He promised to partner with me, sell the fixed machines, and pay me a commission. Additionally, he asked me to make cold calls for him at a rate of $250 per week, but he never paid me. He also left some machines with me for storage, promising to pay me upon his return, but he never did. I have not received any payment for the work we agreed upon. It's important to note that Josh Duke operates without a legal and active LLC, so if you do business with him, be sure to request a W-9 form to avoid being responsible for taxes on the transactions. I have pictures of the equipment I've been storing for him since May 15th, 2024, and I want it removed from my property. I suspect that the equipment might be stolen. I intend to take legal action for the damages and report his business operations to the IRS for tax evasion. I am keeping this post up until Josh Duke settles the $1000 he owes to my company's LLC. This post will serve as a warning to others until the matter is resolved. I have also contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) about this issue.

I received the same message as what you posted. I didn't respond nor will I. The 754-304-4297 number I listed is my number they messaged. The method they expected me to call was a WhatsApp number +1270425359

I hope this helps, Ted Conrad

I applied for a remote position through an ad on Facebook. The hiring manager onboarded me and asked me to fill out basic employment documents. They then asked for my credit account information because the company allegedly helps pay off debt. The Facebook account that originally posted the job now no longer exists and a new one has been made.

Once I responded to the text message, I was asked to download the app Telegram and reach out to Bettina Krause @bettina_htecsystems for a. Riefing and interview. I did and was told everything would be via IM. The company was opening a location in Pittsburgh and was looking to staff it, but I wasn’t close so I’d be 100% remote. It all ran together and they never really offered me a job, just said I was hired and started a new process. I tried to halt it and asked for an email to review everything, but they pressed saying they needed certain things. They only requested my address and phone. Later that day, with research and assistance from friends and family, we discovered it was a scam. I immediately deleted the telegram app and I received 2 emails the following day - July 4th - and then a check was also overnighted and arrived on July 5th for $4,844.44 from American Business Bank. I filed a report with the FTC, sent an email to the attorney general and will be taking the check to the bank.

Received texted from someone Warren ****** saying they are hiring and would like to interview. He provided me with Brian *********** who then did an online interview through Microsoft Teams. After doing questions and answer's. He said I was hired for Data Entry: Then went on to say he would be sending me an e-check to cover for materials. I then became very supious, because earlier he asked if I had a printer with copier and scanner, which I do. I questioned him on why I would need a whole system. I went on to advise: as long as I don't have to cash the e-check into my account and it has the company's name on it --not mine- I can do this. He stated I would have to deposit the check into my account. At this point I had already search for scam with his name and found this to be a real scam. No money exchanged: I will not accept the e-check and hopefully someone can catch this person. It is very sad when you are trying to find employment and people like this take advantage of others.

Initially, it was an email where they expressed their gratitude for my interest in working for their company. Was called multiple times. Eventually, I called back. I spoke to Sam the HR Manager. Asked me when the best time I could come in for an interview. Said it was for a sales position I "applied" for.

I had lunch & a (1) prior site selection mtg.w/ HomeVestors. Then I never heard from the company again. I was to be the new HomeVestors employee. Having been rejected w/ -0- notice, I never heard from HomeVestors again. It was then I realized I'd fell victim to a scam. This scam cost me $1,000 that I was due. One of the property specialists, Carlos Carroll, was a Manager that drove the entire crooked operation as HomeVestors offers were so low no seller would ever entertain a proposal from him. I was prepared to ramp up quickly but never given the chance. They never informed me of my termination. No class! Do NOT sell to HomeVesters. MarkSpain.com & quickcashoffer.com are much more honest & producing companies. Thank you.

Google the position and found out she’s a scam. Same as the other positions above

- Miami, FL, USA • Jun 29, 2024

The scammer said I'd qualified for a job, put me through an hour of "training" and then said I had to transfer $100 to be eligible.

Please see the attached image for highlighted red flags. The "employer" is a "CEO" rather than a hiring manager, he conducted the interview via email rather than even a brief phone call which would be workable despite travel, the address for the company is a residential address, and the position offered to me was for $30/hr 20 hrs /week with part time benefits for remote data entry. This is well above and beyond the industry average. The way this scam would have worked, if I had not recognized it as someone who has formerly worked in fraud investigation, is that the check for the equipment would bounce AFTER the money order had been placed, which would have placed my account in double jeopardy because money orders are guaranteed payment. No legitimate company will ever ask you to buy or send money for equipment rather than just giving it to you. Stay safe out there y'all!

Received an email saying that I had an online interview with a Mr. Robert Benjamin via Telegram to discuss the role and compensation package. This email went to my spam folder and the website attached to the email leads to a dead end.

When I contacted the manager via Signal, they asked some basic questions and then sent me an offer letter the next morning along with a W4 form and a direct deposit form.

The contract was quite vague and conflicted with information the "hiring manager" provided on Signal which made me start to suspect that the job I had actually applied for on Indeed was not this one or was fake. She asked that I send everything back "promptly" and the directions instructed me to fill everything out by hand, sign and scan to the Signal app. When I asked for a clear job description, I did not receive one. In the Signal communications from the "hiring manager" I was promised all sorts of benefits as well as lots of tech equipment that I could use to set up a home office.

(I did not send anything back).
