I had a similar experience as the one posted earlier. A Sarah Williams reached out regarding a position and asked if I was interested. I sent her my resume and she responded that I would be a good fit but that I need my resume to be ATS friendly. She shared a website https://advresats.com and said I need to go their and get my resume ATS formatted. The thing is, my resume is already ATS formatted so that is what triggered my to feel like this was off. It is true though that it is unusual for a recruiter to reach out and not provide any details about a position. I looked up PE Talent Seek and their website definitely looks questionable. All of their images are stock photos. Not sure if the goal of this scam is to get personal info or to put in credit card info to that ATS site. It's also worth noting the site says it will format your resume into ATS for only 15 dollars. Resume configuration is typically way more expensive.

A "recruiter" reached out for my resume and then wrote back that it wasn't ATS-friendly (even though it was a PDF) and that I should run it through a website and included the link to the site. Neither the site nor the employer the recruiter claimed to work for seem legitimate.

- Philadelphia, PA, USA • Nov 01, 2024

Reached out for a potential job offer and was told that the company hiring was confidential and to send a resume. I sent my resume and was told that the format was not "ATS friendly." the agent gave me a link to get my resume "ATS friendly." I know how to get a resume ATS friendly so I reformatted it and sent it back. I was then told that it has to go through the link she sent me and have to pay the $17.00 to get it formatted. Very fishy!

Stark Executive Search claims to be a recruiting company for companies looking to hire executive positions. They will send you an email claiming that they got saw your resume on LinkedIn and think you'd be great for a position. Prior to having the call, they put your resume through an ATS. from there they claim that they can make your resume stronger so your resume comes up in all the ATS software for a certain price. They take your money and the call never happens. beware

After I sent my resume I was asked to resend it in an ATS friendly format, which I did, but the response was I need to run it through this website to get in front of the client. I realised that it might be a scam after that, because my resume is very ats optimised.

I was emailed about a VP position a recruiter was working on for a private equity company. Asked for my resume, which I provided in PDF format. She responded asking me if I could "Your experience is aligned with the role, but your resume is not ATS-friendly. Kindly adapt your resume to be ATS-friendly as I need it asap. For creating an ATS friendly resume, please visit https://www.cmsresumesopt.com". She emailed me a second time the next day asking me if I had uploaded my resume yet and when she could expect it. I responded after visiting the website only to see it cost to upload my resume, asking her "Hi Cindy, I will dig into it today and get turned around. Utilizing this format versus PDF or other format does exactly what for the client or candidate? I deal with numerous recruiting agencies in my current role and have not heard this concept? It has me curious. Thanks." I deal with ADP recruiting services now in my current role and have never heard any recruiting firm ask for an ATS friendly format. I began considering this was nothing more than a sales scheme for cmsresumeopt.com, who charges to upload a perfectly normal resume format into something else. Given how active the recruiting business is now, I feel there is a sales incentive or some other connection here. I deal daily with recruiters and actively seeking professionals and this is very alarming to me.

A Sarah Williams from PE Talent Seek reached out via email regarding a position and asked for my latest resume, which I sent. She responded that I needed to up[date my resume to be ATS compliant and to visit https://www.cmsresumesopt.com/ to have it made compliant.

Found similar incidence after searching on LinkedIn and google for information on the company and individual that contacted me.

Their website was put together shoddily and not representative of the kind of firm they claim to be.

I was contacted randomly by this agency and the the persons name was Florina Thomas, she stated that I had been referred to them by another talent agency for a yet undisclosed position for Chief Academic Officer. They requested my resume so I sent it to them and when they received they told me it needed to be in ATS friendly format. I told them it was already but they told me to go to a website called ATS Friendly here is the link: https://ats-friendlyresume.com/ and told me to pay 17.dollars for an editable resume in ATS format. I did that sent it back to them and they did not follow and only stated they would put in their file database and reach back out in a few weeks but that was not what was initially stated they stated it was urgent and after I submitted my resume they schedule a call and meeting with me but that never happened. I am keeping an eye on my credit cards and bank accounts.

Scammer contacted me indicating they were Kristen Pike a recruiter for a PE firm and that there was a Chief Innovation Officer role for which I may be a fit and she asked me to send my resume. I sent my resume and she indicated that my experience was a fit but she needed my resume in ATS format and she directed me to https://ats-friendlyresume.com/ for an ATS friendly resume which I purchased for $18 and sent to the "recruiter" and then I did not hear back from her. It is now my understanding, based on some internet search that this is a common scam. So not only did I spend the $18 for the reformatted resume but I shared my personal information (name, address, phone, e-mail, work history) with both the "recruiter" and "CMS Resumes"

- Vacaville, CA, USA

Contacted about an open c-level position. Resume did not work with their applicant tracking system. Asked to upload to https://www.highlevelresume.com/freereview.

Checked out website, FAQ page had some odd things on it and resume reviewer is not secure. Contactor asked to set up a call later this week to discuss an open position after they discuss with their client my credentials. Due to confidentiality, they cannot reveal more about the position or company at this time.

This is the second time this scam has been sent, by the same person. The first time I thought it was real, but realized it was a scam.

They tell you that you need to have your resume re-formatted to apply for a job that you are qualified for. You then get sent to a link:

https://atsresumesexp.com/ which actually does alter your resume (I personally didn't like it or use it but something was done to it.

But then there is no job. Which, again, does happen. But when I received the same email saying that there was a role that I would be a good fit for, but I needed to reformat my resume, that is clearly when the scam became evident.

I actually stopped by the address of this supposed recruiter - it doesn't exist.

Hello Andrew,

The role is aligned with your experience. Unfortunately, your resume does not parse correctly into the Candidate Management System. In order to move forward, I need your ATS compatible resume ASAP. You may contact https://atsresumesexp.com for ATS Compatible Resume.

For reasons of confidentiality and non-disclosure, I am not able to share any details of the position or company with you at this time. I will check my schedule and will contact you back to get started.

I was approached by email only about an open senior position initially by a woman (Emilie Johnson) and then relayed to a man (Michael Roberts) from a head hunter company (leading Headhunters Inc.). The man asked me to load my resume onto their platform which I did. Web site seemed Ok at first sight. He came back to me saying that he was going to talk to the customer in a few days and that meanwhile my resume was not in the right format so that their ATS system could not recognize it. I sent him a Word version. He confirmed my credentials were very good for the position and asked to run my resume through an on line analyzer/enhancer which I did. Result was that my resume was not optimal for ATS systems to recognize it. Michael said he was talking to the customer a few days later and proposed for a conference call after, to which I agreed but he did not confirm booking. The resume analyzer company got back to me by email and offered to improve my resume but I did not use them and used a free software to do so instead and reloaded my resume on the LeadingHeadhunters.com web site. When Michael got back to me by email, he explained that the position was finally removed as the customer that had the open position did not complete the acquisition in the making because of a conflict of interest, not related to me, that was discovered last minute. He said he was keeping my candidacy for future positions. It is only then that I started to investigate further and realized that they never gave me a phone number, that the company does not show a phone number on their website, that none of the Exec Team had a LinkedIn account, and that some areas of their website we incomplete. I guess the goal of the scam is either to gather info for Identity theft (fortunately I did not give anything sensitive like SSN, birthdate of full address) or maybe to get people to, spend money having their resume reviewed on the website they propose (https://www.highlevelresume.com/freereview). Not Sure. I will monitor my stuff closely for a few months.

- Bridgewater, NJ, USA

Someone named Clay Martin mailed me to ask for resume for a senior position. then he asked me to format into ATS format to allow machine reading for the resume. shared a link to https://atsresumesexp.com for ATS Compatible Resume. I did as requested and paid the $17 fee.

Since sending the newly formatted resume there is no feedback and now the original email used to contact me is unreachable and gives a delivery failure message.

- Los Angeles, CA, USA

I received an email saying they were interested in hiring me for a virtual assistant position and I've since gotten emails from two people who appear to be from different organizations asking me to run my resume through a paid ATS service in order to be considered.
