Employment Solicitation - Resume Formatting Scam Reports & Reviews (92)

- Carlsbad, CA, USA

This scammer appears to follow job sites like LinkedIn, etc. He sees that you are looking for a job and asks you for your resume for a job that fits your resume. The hiring company's name is kept confidential. Once you send in your resume, his ATS (applicant tracking system) cant read/decipher your resume (which it clearly should). You are then provided a link where you can purchase a service that will generate a ATS compatible resume. Please note that a simple word.docx or pdf should be ATS compatible, which was originally provided.

Not a major dollar scam, but if he gets enough applicants to fall for this scam, it's easy money for them.

Then they messaged me back, saying that my resume wasn't accepted because the client needed an ATS resume from me. Then I was sent the following:

to me

Hello, I need your ATS resume to progress with the client. I would appreciate it if you could share it with me as soon as possible. You can arrange ATS resume from https://cmsresexp.com

Hello Clay,

I am interested in the position, although I was wondering if there is

another website that you can recommend to create an ATS resume. The

one you sent previously only takes PayPal and Vedmo. I prefer not to

Use either of those payment methods. If you can, please recommend a

different site that offers other ways to pay, I will get my ATS resume

to you as soon as possible.

Thanks, Clay, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Kind regards,

Please check they are accepting payment via CC now

The scammer claimed they wanted my resume for a job application but that my resume wasn't compatible with their system; they then advertised a service that would more properly format my resume, and they insisted that this needed to be done as soon as possible.

After applying to a handful of remote work positions, “Darlene” emailed me at 5:30am EST asking for a copy of my resume that would be forwarded to “the client.”

Skeptical, I decided to see if anyone else had received similar emails and this scam tracker was high among search results.

This emailer posed as a recruiter that wanted to contact me about a supposed opportunity. After sending my resume, they replied that I looked like a good fit for the position but that my resume was not in the required ATS format and I needed to send the ATS format friendly resume right away. They then directed me to this website to purchase the "required" format. https://cmsresexp.com/

Typical boiler plate email from an “executive recruiting firm”.

I was emailed about a job and asked for my resume. This is what the first email said —

Darlene Stewart from PE Recruiting Inc. reached out and said she was a recruiter recruiting for a COO position. She said my background is what they were looking for and it didn't catch me by surprise as I had been filling out applications for Sr. Director and COO positions. Darlene said she wanted an updated resume that was ATS compliant. They gave me a website that did ATS compliant resumes and the website looked real. I also looked up scams from them and nothing showed up. I did some research and ATS compliant resumes are a thing and the prices were in line with what they said so I did it.

I was just contacted by email by Clay Martin from PE Recruiters Inc. with the exact same type of email Darlene sent me. I did some research and now it is showing up on ScamPulse.com that it is a scam. I figured it was after I did the ATS resume because Darlene followed up two more times and then has been silent ever since.

The person Darleen Stewart "[email protected]" Reached from PE Recruiting regarding an executive job opportunity. After sending my resume she replied back stating I was qualified for the opportunity but that the resume needed to be on ATS format. In the email she sent me to a website "https://cmsresexp.com" that charges to have the resume reformatted. there appears to be several people on the internet that have complained about this company and the scam.

She attached emails from her in the word document.

I got an email from an alleged recruiter. Typically when you receive an email like this, they will ask for your resume. Once they have you're resume they will follow up with you saying that your resume was not in ATS format and ask you to pay CMS Resumes to fix it. Once you've paid to have your resume "fixed" they will not follow up with you again. I did not send them my resume, but I am familiar with this type of recruiter scam. The email i received is below:

Reached out about a job opportunity, and requested my resume. After I provided, they explained that my resume was "ats readable" and attempted to redirect me to a site to fix it. The cost to "fix it" would have cost me $39

The scammer reached out via email asking for a resume without providing information about the Job or the client. I responded asking for details. I was told this was not available and I should send my resume. This made me suspicious so I Googled the company name and found a similar report on BBB.
