Details of Complaint:
On November 23, 2023, I initially encountered harassment from the perpetrators behind "infringementreports.com." They engage in fraudulent practices by filing false DMCA Infringement Complaints on seller platforms such as Etsy, Amazon, and eBay. The modus operandi involves reporting listings with vague links from copyright websites, prompting the automatic takedown of the affected listings by platform systems.
The impact on our business has been significant, with our listings taking 10-15 days to be reinstated, causing substantial financial losses. The scammers employ multiple email accounts, including [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]. They falsely present themselves as a 3rd Party company hired by major corporations to handle IP complaints.
Despite their website "infringementreports.com" being taken down, the scammers persist in their fraudulent activities. Numerous complaints on platforms such as Trustpilot, Scamadvisor, and Reddit highlight instances where individuals have been scammed and, in some cases, have made payments.
Chronology of Subsequent Incidents:
January 6, 2024: Scammers filed a fake trademark report on Etsy, currently under appeal.
January 10, 2024: Scammers filed another fake DMCA report, indicating a persistent pattern of harassment.
Actions Taken:
I reported the initial incident to Etsy and IC3 on November 23, 2023, providing details of the fake company to counter the initial DMCA report. I have refrained from interacting with the scammers via the email addresses they provided. Additionally, I have conducted extensive research on the website and reviews to gather information.
Recommendations and Desired Actions:
Sellers on platforms like Etsy should be made aware of potential scams and educated on reporting suspicious activities promptly.
Seller platforms should implement manual checks for DMCA reports to prevent automated takedowns and mitigate the impact on businesses.
Continued collaboration with law enforcement agencies is essential to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind "infringementreports.com."
Conclusion:
The ongoing harassment by individuals associated with "infringementreports.com" poses a significant threat to our business. This formal complaint is submitted with the hope that appropriate actions will be taken to address and mitigate the impact of their fraudulent activities.
