Advised me she needed to know if I had received a new Medicare card in the last two weeks. I had received a similar call last week so I asked why she needed that information and also told the caller I did not trust them and before I finished that statement they hung up. The first one had Minnesota phone number but I when I went to my recents to report the telephone number was gone.

Scammers asked about medicare benefits

- Eagle River, WI, USA • Jan 06, 2024

I believe this is a scam as they tried to submit a claim to my health insurance company using my health insurance plan.

- Norfolk, NE, USA • Dec 29, 2023

The scammer call my elderly mother claiming to be from Franklin County Hospital and Medical Clinic. They asked her information about an ankle brace that they wanted to send her (which she occasionally uses one already) and that they needed her Medicare No. and her Social Security No. in order to process it. They also asked for her Primary Care Provider. Even though my mom knows not to provide this information, the scammers were very good at "pretending" to be medical personnel trying to help her with any pain she was having. I contacted Franklin Medical myself and they told me that their number has been used by scammers before and that they reported it to the ScamPulse.com Association.

- Baltimore, MD, USA

I received a Medicare Summary Notice for Part B that showed 2 charges at a total $3,980 for Urinary Catheters which I have never used, needed or ordered. I do not even live in New York. The company is listed as G&i Ortho Supply Inc. (929) 274-7766, 393 Avenue X, Ste, BROOKLYN, New York 11223-6028. Ordered by Mohammad K Ahmed.

Multiple phone calls from a foreign person claiming to represent Medicare, claiming our medical records show the need for back and knee braces. Even though we never asked for it, braces were sent and paperwork to sign allowing them to charge our insurance provider.

I received a call numerous times (15 in past 2 months) and have been asked to stop calling. They answer the phone saying they are my Medicare Medical Supplier. When pressed they say the company name is Simple Medical Supplies in Miami Florida. They refuse to provide me with an address or any other information and just keep repeating the opening statement when I ask them a question. They have also called from 608-739-9793, 608-154-4807, 608-754-3722, 833-916-9949, 980-222-2889, 608-752-4294, 608-791-9829, 608-754-5799, 608-763-6610, 608-746-1475

The scammer said was medicare, needed the number on the card and docters name. I did give limited information, and realized it was a scam. Called Federal Trade Commission, called my doctors. The police. I should know better, was warned about this type of scam. feel stupid.

Shortly after Medicare notified us via email that they were issuing new cards (about two years ago), we began getting phone calls to our wireless land-line asking us if we got our new cards. after I said yes, the calling person asked if I had any problems like back pain or knee pain and I made a joke about who doesn't at my age. They then attempted to get more details but when it was only about my back and knees, I became suspicious and refused to provide any personal information. They then said your doctor wants you to have a back brace and we will ship it to you, ok? When I asked the name of the doctor they mispronounced the name of my doctor, so I corrected the name and told them that she never said anything about this and would have discussed with me prior to that and that I never complained about a problem with my back. They said 'but mam it's free'. Now we get 6-7 calls a day, with fake names, and different phone numbers each time trying to get us to give them the ok to go ahead and ship us something we don't want. The scary part is that they know our doctor's names and our address and last September, I had to change doctors and they found out who that person is. We cannot get them to stop calling and now they say 'they are calling from the shipping company' but I recognize their pattern and when I asked if it has to do with Medicare', they get upset and say 'no it has nothing to do with Medicare'. I then asked them the name of the shipping company and I was told 'Brace Shipping'. I told them I knew nothing about this company. Most of these callers can barely speak English but cite your name and address and sometimes your doctor's name. I tell them that I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. We generally hang up on them but they frequently call back with 3 minutes. We pick up because we have some important doctor calls who do not provide the their names and business on our wireless land lines (we are trying to switch them all to our cell phones are not perfect (batteries can run down, internet connections may not be available, lost or stolen cell phones, etc.). And their are benefits using a wireless cell phone. I wish we could have a land-line that with security software (like a computer) to warn you that something may be a scam.

Called said she was from LSU Medical Health Regional Medicare Center asking for my Medicare number. Had all my personal info.
