IRS Reports & Reviews (5102)

- Columbus, OH, USA

I've been getting calls on my cell phone for the last month from IRS. They ask for my name and social security number. I said I don't pay taxes, and he hung up. I got another call, and they left a message about fraud.

- Henrico, VA, USA

Scammer left called said he was with the IRS and I owed a amount of money and if I don’t pay I will be arrested.

- Pensacola, FL, USA

Started with a ROBO call stating that I was under investigation. Most of call was not understandable. I called the number back 254-829-5136 which came up from Texas. The man sounded very garbled and hard to speak English. When I questioned his being from USA he called me a xxxxxx xxxxxx. That let me know he was a scam. I also remember the initial call said if I did not respond I would have a warrant issued by some Judge name I could not understand. Wish I could give more but I was caught off guard. Best thing I did was ask him to confirm who he is!

Message that it was the IRS and they needed to call back. Consumer did not call back.

- Columbus, OH, USA

I got a call from a woman in NY saying she was the IRS.

- Amarillo, TX, USA

Got a call from the IRS supposedly. They said the problem has gone past the IRS and is now being handled by the Grand Jury. Called the BBB to confirm it was a scam

- Glassboro, NJ, USA

Call received saying they were from IRS asked questions looking for me to say YES

- Amarillo, TX, USA

Received a call from the "IRS" who said I owed money to them. I am in my 80s and haven't worked in years.

- Pampa, TX, USA

I got a call from a Steven Wilson from # 212-547-9867 who said he was with the IRS and told me I needed to "straighten up because he was an officer of the law". I hung up on him but he called back from a different # 541-994-3636. I read in the paper not too long ago that if we get calls like these then we need to report the #s which is what I did with the BBB

- Corpus Christi, TX, USA

I have received voicemails from these above numbers telling me that the IRS has found fraudulent reporting on my tax filing, or fraudulent activity connected with my SS #. One of the calls identified herself as Deputy Director Samantha from Social Security Administration saying my SS# has been compromised. One or two stated my SS # was going to be suspended because of suspected fraud. All of them were electronic digital voicemails rather than real people. I obviously did not return these “urgent” calls, believing them to be scams phishing for my SS #. Two calls were from CT (Stamford & Redding) & one was from Manchester, NH.

- Malvern, PA, USA

I received a scam about owing back taxes. I am caught up on all of my taxes, but the caller said that I owe 5,000 in back taxes or I would go to jail. He wanted all kind of information from me. I told him that I pay all of my taxes and hung up on him.

- Boone, NC, USA

Received call from an entity claiming to be the IRS. Stated that if I did not contact them (aka the IRS) back at the number provided that legal action would be taken against me. This phone call was followed up within five minutes by a restricted number with a live person telling me they were calling from the US Treasury. The first phone number was not restricted - 786-504-1762.

- Grand Island, NE, USA

I received a call stating it was from the IRS but it was a pre recorded message and that I needed to call back due to major errors on my taxes that I had two days before legal action could take place.

AGAIN - 11/01/18 4:43 pm and 5:54 pm. Voice mail said " We have tried to notify you regarding these issue in previous six months but we had never got response from you.So it has been considered as an intentional fraud and lawsuit has been filed under you name by the United States Government. You may call our department number on 218-419-0262.I repeat it's 218-419-0262.Thank you. When I called back they said his name was George and he was from the IRS,when I started questioning him he asked if I was calling back from the same number,I hased him to tell me if I was and he hung up on me.When I called back the call was rejected. I then called from a land line and it was George AGAIN. He AGAIN answered the phone"IRS" I asked why he was calling me and he wanted to know if I was calling from the same phone number that was called,I said "you tell me" and he hung up on me. THEN the land line phone rang from phone # 311-898-0274,when I tried calling back the line was busy. I tried calling the 311-898-0274 from my cell phone ant the number could not be completed as dialed. I am really tired of the SCAM'S CAN WE PLEASE MAKE THEM STOP ????

Said they were the IRS and they had a criminal warrant.

Got a call from their number saying they were with the IRS to collect back-taxes. I told them I knew this was a scam and they said well why are you still on the phone and told me to hangup.

A man called my cell phone saying that he was with the IRS he said first his name was Peter Anderson then he said his name was Andrew Peterson he gave me his badge number gave me a case number and some other kind of number said that I owe the IRS over $2,000 and that I couldn't interrupt him during the phone call and that they were going to see my check for the lean on or whatever I had I when I told him that I was going to call the Better Business of Investigation he got real upset and hung up the phone on me

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

Received a voicemail message telling me I was going to be in trouble with the law if I didn't call ***. It was about a tax issue.

Told consumer they were the IRS and they needed to call them back or they would be arrested.

Checking messages on my recently acquired cell phone, it looked like a friend from Texas was trying to contact me regarding an upcoming visit. The creepy robo-voice said this exact message: "Right now you and your physical property are both being monitored and it is very important that I do hear back from you as soon as possible before we proceed further in any legal manner. My direct callback number is 325-206-6010. Again, that number is 325-206-6010. Thank you." I called back later in the day, fairly sure that it was a scam, and was surprised that after a period of background music, a person actually answered. The woman who answered was very heavily accented, but Identified herself as an agent of the IRS, and wanted to contact my deceased mother (2007). I can see trying to scam a woman who would be 97 at this time, but how did her name get associated with my recently acquired number?
