I received a voice mail stating that something was associated with my name and social security and that I or my represented counsel need to call in immediately. I called and spoke to someone my the name of Matthew you stated that I had taken out a payday loan on December 24, 2012 and they were seeking legal action against me for non payment. They needs my social security number, my name, and my old bank information. Matthew stated that they would take me to court and win making me pay over $4,000 and that the original loan amount was $450. When i told him all i had to do was show my bank statements and that i never got any funding he stated that it didn't go into a bank account it was a prepaid card or money order so i would have to prove identity theft in order to fight it. The gentlemen tried getting me to pay $1,000 in increments or $500 up front to stop legal action. I told him i could not afford that so he said he needed $300 upfront.. I said i didn't have the money so then he said i needed to pay $150 in 2 payments. I didn't realize it was a scam at first so was going to set up this payment until i went to give them my back information and they wouldn't accept it said i needed to provide a card and advised me to go get a prepaid credit card to make the payments. I didn't and they called me back this morning saying it was imperative that i call them today or they will continue wit legal action against me and i will get legal paperwork in the mail. I have NEVER taken out a loan and when i looked the number up online i see that other people are getting the same calls saying the same thing.
