Said that I was being charged for software I did not order

I rec'd an email on 4/14/21 from the email address above which said that a transaction for $490.99 had been processed for activating a McAfee subscription. The order was being activated by ATS to use the full version, you can call support team at given TFN. Please note today is the last day of activation/canclation of your order. This only said that this amount "was paid by your account."

The email had many misspelled words and run on sentences. I did not call the billing support number 1-877-329-1042 to dispute the charge.

I received a phone call about 2 hours after receiving this email from the 225-376-5766 number and this stated that "Law Enforcement was involved in looking at some major discrepancies in my bank accounts and that a warrant for my arrest had been issued. Investigation was ongoing by the Federal Reserve System." I have to believe that two fishing emails within 4 days of each other, then this phone call are all coming from the same place / origin / group of scammers.

Received an email from supposedly McAfee stating that my 6 month internet security service will renew on 3-20-21 for $450 and I need to call 1-888-690-3416 to cancel within 24 hrs. When I opened the email up further it shows another email address [email protected]. When I called and spoke with a heavy accented man, he told me that He will need to walk me through a form online in order to cancel my service at www.windowsteam.net. so he can securely cancel the service. I said this sounds like a scam...normally McAfee services can be canceled online or by phone...he hung up. I called back spoke with another heavily accented man, he couldn’t tell me what information they had on an account for me and kept trying to get me to let them walk me through filling out a form online so I just hung up

My brother phoned me this morning and told me that he just received an email from McAfee from [email protected] regarding a receipt for payment $********** for $****** made on 3/10. The phone number listed is 1-866-395-0714. I called the number and when I started asking questions I was disconnected 3 times. I then called McAfee corporate office and spoke with the scam department and I was advised that this was a scam and to contact the cc companies and bank and let them know. They believe that a credit card number was obtained fraudulently and charged the amount.

Received email that McAfee was due to expire. So I clicked on to renew it. I put my name, email, landline phone # & credit card in. I was given a confirmation #CS2693973096 & serial #W74EKXAE9YLEL8M. I was given a selection to download so chose it. Nothing happened. I then called a friend who has computer/technology education. She checked it out. Saw nothing was on my iPad. Asked why I thought I would need this on my iPad. Made sure my wifi security was ok because it showed it was weak. Clicked onto the sender’s email & showed me it was a scam. The email shown shown there was [email protected]. Price for 2 years was $69.99. I called my credit card co to request a stop payment. I was told it hadn’t been processed yet & couldn’t stop payment until it was processed. She gave me a phone #(866)622-3911 for me to call them to cancel the sale. Stupid me should have known better but I called. They had me verify my email address, phone # & my name. I then hung up. The person I spoke to called himself JR. there was an email sent to me stating it had been cancelled. They gave me a case#25206888. The email address was [email protected]. Http://service.McAfee.com. The charge on my credit card ended up being $74.90. It was cancelled. I also cancelled my credit card.

This person at this number had me on the phone for over 4 hours. He asked me my bank account information, social security number, how much money I had in the bank, and other inappropriate questions. The issue with him is still not resolved and he wants me to call back tomorrow.

I received an email from McAfee stating that per my request my anti theft was renewed x 2 years and the cost was $353.99. I didn’t remember it being so expensive, so I called and was assured that it was legit. I did notice that everyone whom I spoke to had an Indian accent. I foolishly allowed them to start process and watched all they we’re doing. It seemed ok. I didn’t have my bank card thankfully, to pay directly, but was to send check the next day. I was told that process would take several hours to update my computer and could see that there was something going on. It didn’t sit well with me, so I looked up McAfee rates, & they were much less expensive and it was self download. I immediately shut computer diwn and didn’t allow program to complete. I will contact my bank ASAP due to lady taking tracking #.

This is the second time I received an email from this company claiming that I had an automatic debit renewal for McAfee Antivirus Protection. I called the toll free number listed in the email 800-674-9808 and it automatically went to voicemail. I then google McAfee Customer Service number which is 866-622-3911, and spoke to a representative to make sure nothing was being debited from my bank account. The gentlemen searched my email address and could not find a record of me ever having an account, After looking closer at the email I noticed McAfee was spelled wrong in 2 different spots, the word number was spelled incorrectly and the product name was abbreviated. This is a copy of the email sent to me.

McAfee support at phone number (833) 394-3939 is a tech support scam. They are not McAfee, instead want into your computer to tell you there's big problems and you need to pay them $700 to let their level three network technicians work on your computer for 90 minutes. Tried contacting the real McAfee and they were very irresponsible and complacent with this fraud, refusing for me to speak with a supervisor and they have no fraud department. I do not trust McAfee in any way now. Do not use this service or use McAfee software.

I was trying to activate my McAfee and searched for it on bing. Bing came up with different results, out of which, this being the first one, i went on this site and it seemed to be trust worthy since it was using McAfee name, logo, etc. I filled out the form that was there on the website and got a call from a person named Roger. He had a strong Indian accent and claimed to be from McAfee.

He then insisted me to allow the controls of my computer as i told him that My McAfee wouldn't install. I allowed him the access trusting him to be from McAfee, after which he screwed up my computer and threatened me that he had access to my bank details and credit card information.

This is cruel and i want you to take action against these scammers.

It was yesterday evening when i was trying to install McAfee on to my new computer and i entered the search term "mcafee.com activate card" on bing, and bing came up with many results. However, i clicked on this link and landed on to a website where in they took control of my computer stating that they would help me to get McAfee loaded on to my computer. However, after this person was in my computer, he was doing unusual stuff on my computer and stated that there were viruses and trojans in my computer which kept blocking the McAfee to get installed. After this he said that i would have to pay to get it fixed and only after which the McAfee would install. I felt this was a scam so i told them that i would first speak to the retailer and then get back to you. On this, he started threatening me that if i do not pay them, i would end up losing my McAfee key, and also said that my credit card and bank details are with them, and they can misuse it. This was a nightmare for me. i had to call up my bank and block the credit card, the McAfee key that i had bought is no longer working, and the computer is also running slow.

Company thanked me for my order (there was none) with an order #, customer # date (3/30/20), amt (299.99) Visa (no #),shipping date for: McAfee Premium Support, Scratch card, Mail. I was to call 866 727 5233 to cancel/refund. Signed by General Mgr, Nell O'Donnell. . I called, talked with India/accent man who asked for my email, & address. I refused address and said I'll give you # and you tell me street as you sent me email. He was upset with me I asked for Mgr. He refused. I earlier looked at website and found nothing adv for that $299.99. He gave up on me and hung up. Phone # on website and email were the same.

Customer received call from an individual claiming McAfee stating that the customer was owed about $400 due to a settlement they reached with BBB. Customer provided banking information and the scammers supposedly deposited $4000 then drafted $3600 because they had made a mistake and deposited more money so they kept drafting $3600 from her account but the promised $4000 was never deposited. Customer has notified bank and credit card, both accounts have been frozen.

I have a Mcafee security suite installed on my computer. On January 20, 2020, I received an E-mail purporting to be from McAfee stating "Action required for your McAfee protection. Download now". The McAfee logo was displayed. The language used would be familiar to a McAfee subscriber. I have never received any similar messages from McAfee. I contacted customer/technical support for clarification and verification. I was informed that this is a "scam, ignore, do not open, delete, do not click on anything, this is not our e-mail addres." I checked my McAfee secuity installation, which appears to functioning normally. Apparently, scammers were/are attempting to gain access to computers held by McAfee subscribers. I have notified family and collegues, FTC, and AARP Fraud Watch Network, of the potntial of a scam.

First the scanner claimed I had a McAfee that was going to be automatically renewed for 399 on my debit unless I called to cancel. Then they said I had viruses on PC. Obtained all my personal info pretending to check if was attached by virus. Bank info, on line accounts like PayPal, etc. Also got my SS.and purchased off of Walmart. Never hung up all day. Kept me in hold.

In July I purchased a McAfee anti virus security key and when following the instructions on the back of the card I was told to visit mcafee.com/activate and enter the id on the card. When I did that a pop up message came on the screen telling me that the info was not correct and to contact them by phone at the number on the screen. I called the number and was informed that the info wouldn't work and was coerced into purchasing another security program from them for $400. I purchased with my credit card and thought everything was fine. I was told if there was ever a problem with my pc that a representative from the company would contact me by phone.

I received a phone call from a representative from McAfee telling me that my pc had been compromised and while on the phone I gave him permission to access my computer. While he was speaking with me he said that he could no longer assist me and would have to refund me for the security program I'd purchased in July. He told me that I would have to follow the prompts on the screen and answer each of the questions exactly right in order for the transaction to go through. The screen went black and there was small writing at the top. The first thing that I noticed was that my name was spelled incorrectly. I was to reenter my name and the amount of the refund. As soon as I typed in $400 it immediately changed over to $4000 and the representative got upset stating that I had messed up the transaction and now needed to go to Target and get several $200 Target gift cards to reimburse the $3600 overage. I told him that I did not feel comfortable doing that and he should just withdraw the $3600 from my account. He told me again that he could not do that. In the meantime I had a friend contact my bank by phone and we found that not changes had been made to my balances. The representative from McAfee would not allow me to get off of the phone until I had agreed to go to Target and he wanted me to stay on the phone while I made the purchases. I contacted my bank and changed all of my accounts but I am still locked out of my pc.

These people are pretending to be McAfee, rather they are not. This happened when i was trying to install McAfee on my computer and i landed on to this website https://w-mcafee.com/ and they took remote access of my computer, said there was something very wrong with it, and that i had to pay to fix this. If not, my computer will be hacked.

They also charged me $250 for the same. I have reported this to my bank. But i also wanted to report these scammers to ScamPulse.com as i feel that others should stay safe.

Thanks and regards.

This website is using McAfee trademark, logos and pretending to be McAfee. The seem to be scammers. It all started when i was trying to activate my McAfee Antivirus and i don't know how but i landed on to this website, and they just took over my computer while i was chatting with them on their website. After this they started to threaten me to pay money or else they shall not loose the access to my computer.

I feel so scared and i want to report them.
