First, Title 18, section 1501 defines penalties for assaulting a process server. This explanation comes from the website of the Cornell School of Law: Whoever knowingly and willfully obstructs, resists, or opposes any officer of the United States, or other person duly authorized, in serving, or attempting to serve or execute, any legal or judicial writ or process of any court of the United States, or United States magistrate judge; or

Whoever assaults, beats, or wounds any officer or other person duly authorized, knowing him to be such officer, or other person so duly authorized, in serving or executing any such writ, rule, order, process, warrant, or other legal or judicial writ or process

Second...CHECK YOUR LOCAL COUNTIES CIVIL COURT FILINGS WEBSITE BEFORE COMMUNICATING WITH ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU! If you look up the civil court filings and there are no cases filed against you that is confirmation this is a scam.

Third...process servers DO NOT call you to serve you. They just show up.

IF you happen to speak to one of these [censored], DO NOT disclose your home address, the county you live in, where you work, etc. IF someone is legally suing you they will already know this information. If they ask you to confirm your address, ask them if they are suing you shouldn't they already know your address? They can't file suit against you if they don't know your address because a debt collector can't sue you if THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY FILED SUIT AGAINST YOU IN THE COUNTY WHERE YOU LIVE!

The documents require signature for proper service and delivery. Someone over the age of 18 must be present and available. For further information call 844-456-3133. Failure to communicate with the office will result in penalties and fines under title 18 section 1501, willful evasion of service.
