Applied on LinkedIn with full resume attached. At first received a text asking my full name and email. Then I received an email asked for my full name, email, dob, etc. At this point they would have had all this information from the application, resume, plus the text I sent and this was 3rd interaction. That raised all of my red flags so I didn’t respond and came here. So thanks all for sharing, definitely saved me a headache.

You have been approved for your first shopping task in your location which will guide and direct you step by step to avoid mistakes as this is your first shopping task.

Your payment is via a direct deposit to your credit card account, your details will be sent to the payroll system to be funded and get started with your first shopping task.

Reasons why we use Credit Card

Convenience
You can use a credit card just about anywhere, including overseas, over the phone, and online. Credit Cards take up less space than a thick wad of checks or cash. Additionally, some merchants won’t accept cash (i.e. hotels, airlines, and car rental agencies).

Shopper's Purchase Protection
Making purchases on a credit card may help protect you if you have to deal with a billing error or defective goods.

Shopper's Build Credit
Credit cards help people build credit. Responsible use will also likely boost your credit score. Credit can help you obtain insurance, a mortgage, an auto loan, and other credit on favorable terms, potentially saving you tens of thousands of dollars over time. It can also help you land a job or a place to rent.

Shopper's Credit Card Rewards
Earn cash back, flights, hotel stays, gift cards, and other great rewards. Make sure that you understand all of the conditions and terms of the rewards.

Shopper's Financial Safety Net
At some point in our lives, we will all unexpectedly have a roof leak, a car break down, or a large medical expense. Credit cards can come in handy if there is an emergency that requires a purchase or expense that exceeds your emergency fund.

Shopper's Earning Interest
With credit cards, there is a lag between when you make a purchase and when your credit card payment is due a month or so later. This is basically an interest-free loan. During this lag, your money is (hopefully) generating interest income for you in your bank account. If it’s not, open up an online savings account, online money market account, or interest checking account that pays you better.

Shopper's Other Benefits
Credit cards may have other random benefits, such as extended warranties, travel insurance, or car rental insurance.

Kindly fill the registration form below to get started with your First Shopping Task.

I saw an ad on Linked In for a mystery shopper and applied. Being on LinkedIn I figured it was legitimate. The email offer contained the manager's name and a website address. Terry Kendrick
Field Operation Manager
SCI Market Research
https://shopperscritique.com
I checked out the website and it seemed real. So I proceeded with the onboarding process. The next email gave a legitimate explanation of why use a credit card. (I can supply a copy of it if you want.) The first sign was the first purchase of 2 gift cards. One was for $500 and the other was for $400, but I saw the payment for $944.92 drop into my account. So I purchased the cards. I ask where do I send the cards back? The response was "we'll let you know".

Aug 24 Payment from Boston
Firefighters C.U. ...9120
Payment Jeanette B.
...0796
-$944.9

I asked the man why such large amounts and he never responded.
The other day my credit card company stated that I was over my limit. I checked my statement and saw the amounts were charged back to my account. I've spent the weekend trying to get a hold of this company for an explanation. No response. My credit card company told me the charges were returned for "insufficient funds". This company wrote them bad checks. Now I'm out $1,600, but I still have the gift cards. What is the next steps to getting my money back and getting these people arrested? My regret is I trusted LinkedIn and didn't dig further.

I saw a job posting on Linked in for a secret shopper. Seemed like a fun part-time gig. I ignored the red flags because of their presence on Linked In!

I gave my credit card number, DOB, last four of Social which they said were for payment and reimbursement. I closed the card immediately before they sent me on my first "job". I was to go to Walmart and buy a $200 steam card.

I was getting duplicate text instructions and the "agent's" name was different in the email from the signature.

I wasted 2 hours of my time with Kelly Miller.
Everything seemed "too good to be true" at first, until a red flag hit.
She wanted a credit card number along with other information BEFORE I started my first assignment. No form to fill out for proper tax form information as well, and things were happening way too fast. (like I mentioned, this all happened in under 2 hours)

The account that posted the job search on Linkedin, is an Irene Luna. https://www.linkedin.com/in/irene-luna-4215606/

This is the link to the Linkedin job listing (It has been marked as "no longer accepting applications"):
https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/3167407661/?refId=117e708b-c6ee-4a54-ac3a-735... />
The TRUE company website clearly states that there is a company trying to scam linkedin visitors. http://www.sciresearch.com/

Kelly was sending me emails within 5 minutes of my response to her, all emails said the same thing as those already posting about this type of scam on this site.

At this point, I clicked the link to take a look at the so called "form" and it was asking for my information like SSN, and Credit Card number.
This sent up red flags.
I used to work at a bank, and I learned all about Phishing scams.
I stopped and did a little research then. Looking up and finding the true company website with the notice, and finding this thread online.
Every photo shared really was helpful because it told me that the emails I was sent, were a copy and paste.
The one person on here that commented by questioning the person about signing any form for tax reasons for such kind of job position, I took a page from their post and sent an email to Kelly questioning her.

My email to Kelly:
Hello Kelly Miller,
I'm sorry but this seams just too odd to me.
I was a former Bank Teller and all of this seems like a scam. I haven't signed any w-9 form for a 1099 contract posting, or any w-4 form for a w-2 position.
So handing over immediately my credit card information seems like a phishing scam.

Her response was so informal and unprofessional:
You will receive a w-9 form at the month because this is a contract Job. The credit card information is required to make Payment for your shopping expenses while carrying out your task and your salary to your credit card account.

Kelly

This screamed scam now.
Specially after I had even gone the extra mile and made a phone call to the True company that she was supposedly representing. (They stop official working hours at 3pm, and it was after 5pm by this time. So she, representing that she worked for HR of the company, shouldn't have even been on the clock. Let alone emailing and for job recruiting after hours.) So all of this screamed BS.

My final response to her was not so kind, nor professional, but I was pissed.
I don't like my time wasted with BS like that.
I haven't gotten a response since, and I blocked all form of communication.

Please be careful with this.
Companies would NEVER have their HR employees stay after hours to job recruit. All of the job recruiting happens in the early morning hours anyway. Not in the evenings.
Companies would also NEVER have their employees use a basic email address like gmail.com. Because they want their employees to use a safe email address that represents them. It would look more like this if "Kelly Miller" was from the real company: [email protected]
Or something similar. The company name would not be in the beginning before the @

So good luck, and please trust your gut like I did.
Don't give any information. Especially when they ask for a credit card number without running any proper procedures or don't have you fill out any proper forms (like tax forms).

Why doesn't LinkedIn stop these [censored]ers from posting?

Hi! I already did everything and gave them everything! I’m so stupid! I did that before doing my research…. I SAW the red flags and went to the website and everything looked good to me… so I went ahead and gave them ALL my information… I’m literally crying :(
What would be your advice at this point? They haven’t send me any task yet or asked me to buy any gift cards… they just have ALL MY FCKN INFORMATION and my card.
Please help me :(

Saw the job application in LinkedIn. I applied, my application got approved. basically got the same email as others but from someone named Kelly Miller. See pics below. This was the first email :
"Your application was received as one of the Brand Assessors for our market research to evaluate customer service in your location.
Kindly reply with your registration number #(######).

I will get back to you with your job description and payment information shortly.
"

Clearly a scam, unfortunately, I can't recall what they had me fill out and if had to put my SSN or anything. Now I am worried and froze everything. The links for Matthew's profile, the guy who listed the job post, and the job post are no longer available. I feel so stupid.

They deposited money to my credit and asked me to go buy gift cards. They asked me to read the card number and pin. I thought the payment they made went through so I earned some money for the task. But when I found out it’s a scam, I called the bank the filed claims. The bank helped me cancel all my credits and sent me new cards with new numbers. When I checked my balance, SCI people took the payment back so I lost the money I paid for the gift cards. If I had listened to them and made balance transfers from credit to debit so they could make more payment, later I would have lost more money. People please learn the lesson from me and never trust any job scam saying you will make $300 per task.

I found a posting for a jobs on LinkedIn. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/2831753541

The job posting was quoted as "Mystery Shopper" from a business called Shopper's Critique. I received and email asking for my name, date of birth, address and whether I had a credit card or not. Then they sent me a second email telling me " Text your Full name and Shopping Batch Code number CIAS 0310 to (226) 270-1990 for immediate update" to the hiring managers phone. The text conversation started like this:

I text my full name and "Shopping Batch Code: CIAS 0310".

Them: "Batch Code Accepted", "Kindly check your email for SHOPPER BRIEF'S". (Which is like an email about how to be a Mystery Shopper and the "company's policies").

Me: "Okay. I recieved the email and fully understand."

Them: "Kindly check your email to register your credit card forms. Thanks".

Me: "Okay." (Which is where I started to get confused and worried about a scam, but trying to play it calm.)

Them: "Kindly text back once the form have been filled".

Me: "I'm still waiting for the email. Sorry for the wait."

Them: "Kindly check back to the email now"

Me: "I received it, so I have one question. I'm signing up for a new credit card or am I applying my credit card to your company? Do I actually get paid cash, not credit."

Them: "Since you have a credit card just go ahead and fill the form. Yes... you are actually get paid for tasks for you do"

Me: "I'm sorry but this seams just too odd to me, I'm USMC veteran and was a former Bank Teller.... this seams like a scam. I haven't signed any w-9 form for a 1099 contract posting, or any w-4 form for a w-2 position."

Them:"The financial department only accepts credit card accounts in the deposit of shopping funds. We can only make a deposit into the credit card account that will include your shopping expenses and also your task fee ($300) . This is our policy for the safety of entrusting funds to all our shoppers..."

Me: "What is this form called?"

Them: "Credit card form" (This was the major red flag for not giving me a form number or anything to explain the "credit card" form)

Me: "Should it be SBI? Not SCI?" (This was the acronym on the emails given to me)

Me: "https://vxzasl0r7jd.typeform.com/to/KmntUGSl" (This is the hyperlink that they sent me in the email that they were calling the credit card form, not a pdf file or anything)

Them: "The credit card form has been sent to your email since you have a credit card kindly fill the form through the link. kindly text back once you're done. Filling form." (I stop texting them and then called my bank, they told me to make the report and here I am.)
