I received an automated call today for the "social security administration" saying due to suspicious activity, my social security number is now frozen. When a person got on the phone, his English was poor, he asked my age and for my social security number. When I responded you tell me, you called me saying it was suspended, what number are you referring too. They hung up on me.

Scary!

- Fairbanks, AK, USA

Restricted call to notify me that my name and social security number were used spoke with agent # SSA12169 and they notified me of a black Toyota Corolla being found in El paso TX and linked to two addresses. Stated in have 26 bank acts in my name and asked if I had ever given my information out in which case I reported that I'm currently in a claim with equifax for data breach and that I have had fraudulent behavior noted on my acts for the last year. In 2018 a person associated with my medical case confiscated my belongings and is a scammer but was allowed to get away with it and i never got my stuff back. I also have a problem getting medical documents since this happened and so perhaps this wasnt abscam? I cannot tell. I was informed that there is a fake I'd and that 2 federal agents will meet me at my mailing address tomorrow to assist with my social security number since it is frozen and that they will also show me the fake ID that was apparently found.

I have had THREE calls from this number in the last two days. Recorded message saying there was an investigation of illegal activity on my social security number. Left message to call back. Of course, I WILL NOT CALL BACK! I am, however, about to block that number on my phone.

This is anaother number used by these scammers. 315-298-6683

Called me multiple times claiming to be social security office and left voicemails using automated voice saying legal action will be taken against me. Called back and realized the whole thing was fake when they incorrectly identified the SSA offices When I pressed them with questions. These scammers are running a completely fake office. This is a serious operation with multiple phone operators as they kept hanging up on me when I asked them hard questions. Please take care of this immediately! This is so serious.

after the caller asked for my name and social security number i felt i should not have given them the information.

They claimed that someone has used my social security card and name for identity scam and involved with drug traffic and opening bank accounts with high balance and some kind of problems with the law that really scared me, i explained i had a credit karma account and i was monitoring my credit the last few days and no issues was going on, besides i was outside the country for three years and been back for a month, the caller said my social was given to rent a car from Texas, i never been to Texas, the caller said he was a chief at the social security administration office, his wife came online and kids were in the back round yelling, he was trying to get more information from me and i stopped giving him information.

he gave me a name:

Sean Marshall employee Id: 9875017

and transferred me to another chief of social security admin, his employee id is: 55520089

They really scared me up mentioning there was blood spots where my social security card and id were found in a stolen rented card under my name .

i have checked my credit reports and just recently opened a bank account no issues found, i was wondering what is the next best thing to do after these callers inform these things and don't know what games they are playing

I received a call from someone saying they were from Social Security and that there was a warrant out for my arrest and that my bank accounts and credit cards would be frozen until an investigation was complete. I was accused of drug trafficking and money laundering and they said if I cooperated they would transfer me to DEA so I could clear my name. I gave them some of my personal information but no account information. After I hung up I called my local Social Security office and verified that it was a scam. I also contacted the police to notify them of the situation.

This phone number calls 10+ times a day. There is no live person. There's just a message from "SSA" that states that (my) social security number is being suspected of fraudulent activity all across the untied states and to call this number back. I called it back from my work phone which was under a different name and played along until they finally asked for my social security number. Every person that answered the phone had a thick accent as if they are not in the US.
