Scammer,  510-497-0586, called my son saying that he was a victim of identity theft. And that someone in Texas was using his identity and trafficking drugs. They told him that it was not a scam and that they would arrest him if he did not comply. They even went as far as to 'transfer him to a reynoldsburg police officer' to ensure that they were telling the truth. They proceeded to transfer him to another person who claimed to be the DEA for reynoldsburg police that told my son that it was all real and that he needed to comply. They then told him they would freeze his accounts for 48 hours in order to issue him a new social security card. They then told him that he needed to go get a $200 Walmart gift card and call them back with the number on the back.

This is potentially a very dangerous scam. A message has been repeatedly left on my land-line message system. This woman's voice, without accent, states that she is calling in regard to my social Security number/account. It will be cancelled unless I call back immediately 713-904-3382. She repeats, very believably on the phone, that she is calling from the S. S. office. They need certain details or it will be cancelled. The voice is very believable. She gives, then repeats the number to call. It is the same as the incoming call, and has been the same each time. I am concerned that people will take this seriously, give out their number, and other information. I hope you can give this the bad publicity it deserves.

Voice mail transcription: "...who's against you and the arrest warrant has been filed under your name due to a legal enforcement action filed on your Social Security number for frozen activities to get more information about this case from federal database please call [the number], I repeat [the phone number] Social Security deputy officer waiting for your call back..."

I got an automated message indicating my social security number has been compromised. They wanted me to call back. It wasn't the same number that they called from.

- Anderson, CA, USA

As I do not often answer unknown numbers I received multiple “missed calls” from these two numbers. I followed up by checking voicemail, and both numbers left messages on from a voice that sounded computerized.

The message stated that my

social security NUMBER was going to be suspended and that I needed to return their call. I did not respond, and am now receiving return calls which state that a warrant has been issued and the police will be at my door shortly.

Upon calling the toll free Social security number:

(1-800-772-1213) I was informed that the department of social security is a Federal program/agency and they nor any state within the United States ever SUSPEND A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. (Benefits...“Yes,” but NOT a social security number.

* This one almost fooled me....What with he similarity in toll free numbers.

Notice now… the REAL social security toll free # has a prefix of 7-7-2, while the scammers toll free # END’S in 7-7-7-2.

Male caller said there was a fraud perpetrated against my ss#.

I have received 5 phone calls and voice messages stating that there has been fraudulent activity using my social security number. If I didn't contact them at 1-833-336-8211 or they will file legal action against me. I have heard of this scam in past months. I don't know if they were wanting information or money from me because I haven't contacted them.

Phone message from a person but not normal voice. Automated ...altered.

- Otis Orchards, WA, USA

I received a call stating my social security number has been identified with fraudulent activities. It then stated agents were awaiting my call and asked me to call them back.

I was contacted that they found an abandoned car in Texas. That through the VIN they were able to find my name and a house that was under surveillance. They were able to search that house and they found information of money laundering and 7 bank accounts with my name on them. He wanted me to verify which were mine. That my name was now in federal court over all these matters. I had a warrant out in my name and they wanted to help solve these matters. That I needed to cooperate fully. He gave me vin numbers and supposed address down, though he spoke so quickly I was unable to write them all down. He also mentioned that social security wanted to give me a new social security so I wouldn't be involved with all the identity theft issue. He threatened if I didn't cooperate that there were was going to be a cop and two Martials arrive at my door and arrest me. Once he started asking for my social security number I became hesitant and he became upset and began to raise his voice. And just continued to ask for my social. When I refused he again threatened with me with the martials

I received two phone calls from company they are Social Security office. Fraudulent charges against me Social Security number. It was an electronic voice. I called the phone number back 833-333-4710. They hung up as soon as I said something. I assume to ignore this.

- Byron, IL, USA

I received two calls from same number today. The recording says" Your social security number has been compromised and suspended". Then it says" press 1 to talk to an agent". Of course I did not talk to anyone- I do not say a word when an unknown number calls me. I simply hung up. If its a real person they will usually say "Hello?" I am getting way to many scammer calls. I called this number back and it was a busy signal! Wow. Usually I call back and discover I called a "non-working number". Scammers on Steroids are going on for me and my husband. Every day I get about 4 or more of these scammers who believe they are preying on the elderly. Verizon could do something. They have the technology. My husband and I already pay 90$ a month for our two lines. I don't want to have to pay for false phone number ID scammer protection, too. It's frustrating and a real threat.

I received a phone call yesterday on my home phone. The caller said they were with Social Security. He did not give his name. He said I was going to lose my benefits. He asked for mu Social Security number. He asked for my name and address. I gave that out. He said I will pull you up on my computer. I called the phone number back 315-214-6060 today. It is out of service. That number was in my caller ID. I knew it was a scam. I did not give my Social Security number out. I wanted to report it.

Caller said they were calling from Social Security and my Identity was stolen and asked for my Social. When I said I want to speak to a supervisor he said I didn't have to speak to anyone and I would die. He said he was going to hang me upside down and that I was a criminal.

I was told my Social Security has been suspended due to a problem. They said I needed to all 704-709-5867 to discuss the problem.

Got a robocall saying they were from Social Security and said someone was illegal using my social security and if I didn't call they would press charges. 800-807-7920

- Pataskala, OH, USA

Received phone call from someone saying they are from the social Security office stating that I have been using a fraudulent social security # and that I have to pay the money back within a short time or I will be arrested for committing fraud against the government. They also said that if I didn’t respond immediately my SS # would be closed and that my benefits regarding that number would be cancelled. I have received at least 3 of these calls and have them recorded.

I got a call from social security to call back
