I received a text message stating that I needed to call SSA and the name and number with extension to call was provided but when I checked the area code, it seems coming from Cambodia so I did not call back. At this time, I hesitated because I do have a pending application with SSA for early retirement and there is no face to face application yet at this time. Below is the screen shot image of the text message that I did not return.

I received a call from the scammer saying that my SSA was used fraudulently and that I need to provide information or the authorities would come to arrest me at my home. I didn't share anything and instead hung up.

The caller said he was Austin McKay, agent #10075, with Social Security Administration. He said they are suspending my social security payment bc of suspicious activity. Case number TX3375 was given to me, and then they began asking personal info to verify my age and last four digits of social security number. I told them they should have that info since he called me. Then he hung up.

I received a phone call. said it was social security administration, put me on hold listening to music. the person said his name was Jeffrey Wilson. Indian accent, from India. said he was checking into unusual activity using my social security number. said he needed to verify my information, asked for last 4 digits of social security number. he gave me a case number and another number to "identify" my case, asked if this was the first time I had been notified. when I asked him to explain exactly what this was about, what the unusual activity was , he said he needed more information first. then he hung up.
