The caller asked if this was "Avon" and I replied "YES" ... I am an Avon representative. I became suspicious when they asked for the owner. I said "NO" and "You have the wrong number" and hung up. They also got me to say "Alright" but can't remember exactly how they phrased the question.

Been receiving a call around 830 am 3 days in a row. When I answered they said "can you hear me". I unfortunately said yes, stop calling me. They started to say congratulations, and I hung up. My phone shows the phone number up as Spam Caller. I remembered after I hung up i heard on the radio about scammers calling and saying can you hear me. I want to report this so I don't get my identity stolen.

They offer to lower your credit card rates for you. When you get a live person they are usually Indian with a horrible American accent impersonation and a fake name like "Robert". I asked them to take me off their call list and he replied "xuck you" and then asked me why i would tell him to "xuck off" which I did not say. He then proceeded to call me a liar and try to get personal information out of me like "What is your wife's name and phone number"

Keeps calling our phone. Says they are calling on a recorded line and then asks "Can you hear me ok?" Caller ID comes up as Beaverton Oregon. I continue to ask them not to call and tell them "we are on a no-call list" and they hang up.

Scam

- Richland, WA, USA

Caller said she was having trouble with her headset. I said "yeah" when she said "hello?" a second time. Said her name was Emily and that I stayed at one of their resorts recently and I qualified for 75% off...blah blah blah. I immediately said "buh bye" and hung up as she was still talking. I have never stayed at any resort.

- Idaho Falls, ID, USA

Recorded message says consumer is eligible for lowering their credit card interest rate, and eligibility will expire immediately so press 1 to take advantage of lower rates. After pressing 1, a live operator comes on the line and asks if it is the consumer's desire to take advantage of a lower interest rate, or some other question that will elicit a verbal "yes" from the consumer. DO NOT EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SAY YES-the conversation is being recorded, and the scammer will falsely claim the consumer consented to a transaction or withdrawal and dub the consumer's own voice saying "yes" onto a recording where the scammer asks for permission to make the withdrawal or transaction.

I said "NO" to their question, denied even having a credit card (true), and demanded to be removed from their calling list. And they terminated the call without a response.

I am not a victim-only a target, and want to prevent others from being victimize.

This is josh with the service department can you hear me ok?

- Philadelphia, PA, USA

I received a call at my workplace from a number in Arkansas. The caller asked, "Stephanie?" Because I was at work, I wasn't even thinking about the scam where the caller gets the person to confirm identify, and answered, "Yes." Then, the caller hung up. I immediately realized what happened, and wrote down the number and looked it up online. It must be a spoofed number, as it was the number of a closed business in Arkansas.

- Renton, WA, USA

The robocall feature a female's voice that states, "Oh, sorry. I was just having some trouble with my headset." Followed by the phrase, "Can you hear me now?"

- Atchison, KS, USA

My phone rang with a local number. I answered it and a guy who sounded really far away asked if I was over the age of 30. I said yes. He hung up. While he was talking, I could still hear the phone ringing.
