- Manassas, VA, USA

On July 12, 2017, I received a call on my work number asking if this is (my name) and I said yes. The line went silent for a moment and then the Indian sounding man said is this the (named my place of employment) and again I said yes. He hung up after that and when I tried to call the number back it said the number was disconnected.

- Waverly, TN, USA

Called my phone and asked to consolidate my debt.

Caller immediately asked, "can you hear me OK?" then went into spiel about being eligible for a back brace.

- Clinton, WA, USA

Recorded voice said "We apologize for" then several seconds of silence then a male voice said "David?". I said "yeah" then hung up.

- North Hollywood, CA, USA

I called for a short sale listing and the recorded me saying "yes". not sure if they will scam me, but I am very concerned now.

- Lafayette, LA, USA

A number of licensed childcare centers across the state have received numerous suspicious emails from different people claiming to be looking for childcare in our area.

Please see attached examples and I have several other examples I can provide

- Honolulu, HI, USA

They left a voice mail message telling me to push one to lower my rate, or push two and be disqualified from getting the lower rate. I still don't know who left the message. Call was from 808-286-6191.

- Portland, OR, USA

I received a cold call from this number. The voice on the other end was a female. They asked if i was my name at my address. I replied yes and then the phone call ended. This sounds suspicious of the yes scam.

- San Marino, CA, USA

Calls and keeps repeating your name over and over again as if he can't hear you, trying to get you to say "yes" so they can record your response and try to use it to charge you for things.

- Silver Spring, MD, USA

Caller said my name and asked if It was me to answer yes.

A foreign person called another department on campus. I guess he asked for me. So the department transferred him to me. When I answered, he said "***. *** ***?" And I said "Yes?" and he hung up. It makes me think they are trying to use my "yes" as permission to authorize charges, etc. It was a work phone, so hopefully it won't matter. If you google that number, it is a South Dakota business, but when you dial it back, the number has been disconnected.

- Austin, TX, USA

I answered the call, a voice recording answered the phone. It sounded exactly the same as one that called a week before, asking for me for my name and address to send me a package where I could make a donation for breast cancer. I hope that wasn't a scam as well. I haven't sent anything to them. But anyways, they asked if the head of the household was available, I said yes, and they responded with "Okay, no message available. Goodbye." I just heard about this scam but I thought they only asked if you could hear them, not if head of the household was available!

- New Bern, NC, USA

Said the line was bad and would call back. I might have said ok. Didn't immediately Hsiang up. When I hung up and called back, the phone was not in service. I have not heard anything yet.

When I answer, the caller asks if I can hear them. I hang up. Unfortunately, my husband answered my phone and whey they asked if he could hear them he answered yes. I researched and found a possible scam of the "yes" being recorded for purposes such as agreeing to purchases, I had so many of these phone calls within the span of 10 days.

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

Received a phone call asking "are you Ms. So-n-so". I said "yes" and they immediately hung up. They didn't even give a company name or reason. Just the question, got my response and hung up.

- Harrisburg, PA, USA

Call on my cell phone. When I answered, a male voice with an English accent asked, "Is this (my name)?" I said yes. He said yes, and then hung up.

- Berne, IN, USA

My household has had many different numbers both local and not both home phones and cell phone numbers. A woman named Elizabeth who is an automated recording tells you that you qualify for a vacation at employee rates but wants more infornation. I have NEVER stayed at any resort this is a scam do not give any infornation.

I have received 22 calls in the past six weeks from different phones in the 208 area code. Each caller has a young sounding, pleasant, energetic female voice. Offering me a free, one-week stay in a resort hotel at a reduced "hotel business rate" in Orlando FL. The "caller" dies not pause to response to any interruptions from me, and at then says "I just need to ask a few questions, is that OK?" I usually just hang up, but today listened to the whole "offer" as well the question and said nothing. After asking me the same question three times the "caller" said "OK, thank you very much, goodby" without saying anything else.

- Elyria, OH, USA

A caller from this number did the "can you hear me" scam. I accidentally said yes...

- Kapolei, HI, USA
