Amazon Imposter Reports & Reviews (1312)

- Vacaville, CA, USA

I have received 2 emails indicating my amazon prime membership is going to expire and will be permanently locked unless I change the card on file. Immediate action is required in all caps. Now I know this is fake for 2 reasons. One I do not have amazon prime. And secondly when we order through amazon we do so under my husband’s account. Therefore there should be no reason for amazon to have my email. I did contact amazon via their online chat help to inform them when this happened the first time. I wanted to take further action as I have received the second email today. I know many people do have amazon prime especially during this pandemic and do want innocent people to be taken advantage of.

I received an email from what looked like a legitimate purchase from Amazon saying my purchase would be shipped. The ship to address was to Austin, Texas and the purchase was for a TV in the amount of $3998.00. I knew I had not made that purchase so I called the phone number stated on email. (855-965-4096). I was told that my Amazon account had been hacked and I needed to purchase an Amazon security card at nearest store. The amount of the card purchase would automatically be returned to the credit card after purchase. He said he would stay on the line while I went to store to be sure I purchased the correct card. I then looked up (through Google) the actual Amazon phone number, and was told it was a scam and that purchase had not been made on my Amazon account. The number the scammer was calling from was 855-948-3525.

I received a message from “AmazonRewards” To take a survey and I will get $100 worth of inventory. I then checked the website and found it to be blank. Then I got another text message asking that William needs to check details regarding a shipment; (there is NO William living at my home!). A shipment number was given and a website to go to which I’m not. I will attach all the information I have. This is about the 4th time this is happened to me and I’m done.

Person called my home phone stating they were from Amazon Security and there was a suspicious charge for a $200 Amazon Gift card posted to my account. He then proceeded to try to have me download on my cell phone an app from google play store called Teamviewer Quicksupport. I said I'd just logon to my Amazon account myself or call Amazon directly, he said you don't have to I'm from Amazon, I said yeah sure and hung up. I logged onto Amazon, there was nothing unusual and changed my password.

- Nashua, NH, USA

Called past few days saying fraud on Amazon acct for $120.00 out of Ohio. Answered 4th call & rep asked if I could sign into my amazon account & I said No because I was on my phone. He hung up.

Email was sent to my husband’s email account as a Blind Copy. Original addressee was [email protected]. The header read exactly like this (note capitalization, grammatical, and punctuation errors):

Fw: [Action Required] Dear Amazon Prime Member,,, Your Amazon Prime Membership Has Been Suspended - [ Final noticed!!] : Please Your Prime Membership update payment card!!, on Date Monday, May 25, 2020 ON, US - (EDT) - 000,111 (GMT+5)

Underneath the bottom of what appears to be a pasted photo-copied image of an actual letter from Amazon, the message in the first paragrah is written twice.

At the very bottom of the page, it indicates that a jpeg image was used.

The scammer called my husbands father 3 different times. They claimed they were calling on behalf of Amazon about an iphone that was charged onto my Amazon account. The scammer said it was charged by my husband. They gave his name and the charge was for $700 and something dollars. My husband passed away recently and our account has a 0 balance. They told my father in-law if the charge is false she can connect him with her manager and he can handle stopping the charge. My father in-law said they had an Asian accent. He told them he knew this was a phishing scam.

I received a phone call on my house phone from an Alex Green telling me that my Amazon Prime account had been locked because there was

a purchase for a refurbished ! Phone6 .I was told that they locked it because they wanted to contact me first before approving it. I had missed the original call and had returned the call @ 1-844-806-5816 . While talking to him he requested that he call me back on another line because

he was unable to hear me. The call came from 1-205-575-2493. I did not answer his call and he called back 7 times.

A week before I received an e-mail from "Amazon" stating that there was a problem with my credit card and they were locking my account and

requested my social security number. I just ignored this and kept ordering. I knew Amazon would never ask for my number. I then contacted customer service at Amazon was was told that my account was fine and had never been locked and that they had never sent any e mails to

me. There was no purchase for $350.00 for i Phone6. I hope this helps someone

This was an email I received from Amazon. I never reply and always check the email sender information.

Which was: [email protected]

Then I go directly to my Amazon account and look to see if any purchases were made. This is most definitely a scam. Don’t reply or open attachments.

- Fredericksburg, VA, USA

Scammer called impersonating Amazon saying that my account had been taken over and unauthorized charges made in Texas and California. Scammer had my name, phone number, and email and knew my state of residence. I hung up when the scammer asked what device I used when last logging into my account. I logged into my Amazon account and confirmed that nothing had been changed and no unauthorized purchases made.
