- Prescott Valley, AZ, USA

2017-01-30, 7:54 p.m. Received call from (928) 433-4997 with Caller ID showing "Flagstaff AZ." The call was a recording, but the recorded script pretended to be a live person, saying something to the effect of "oh, I dropped my headset" or "sorry; I was having trouble with my headset" and at some point during that initial greeting asked if she could be heard. It was not initially evident that it was a recording; the recorded 'caller' was speaking so quickly that there was no polite opportunity to interrupt and it was about 20 seconds into the call before it was clear that it was a recording. The pitch of the 'caller' was that because I supposedly had purchased their products in the past, I was now eligible for this new fantastic offer, etc., etc. I hung up as soon as I realized it was a recording, but I believe that at the very beginning of the call I was asked if I could hear and I probably answered "yes" before I realized it was not a liver person. I assume that the entire purpose of the call was to get a voice recording of me saying the one word "yes."

Person pretended not to be able to hear me and I'm uncertain if I said "Yes". I believe I just said hello a couple times and then hung up when they started their script about a cheap cruise.

- Buford, GA, USA

When answering the phone, the caller did not immediately respond when I said "hello". When I said "hello" again, a female voice, which was clearly an automated message, stated "I am sorry I appear to be having trouble with my headset". After reading about the phone scams happening, I immediately hung up. When you try to call the number back, an automated message states "the survey you were called about appears to have ended".

I received a call from the above number asking if I could hear them ok, to which I said yes then they asked about a free cruise. I believe this is a scam where the YES is recorded and used later.

Person on the phone said, I am having problems with my headset and asked if I could hear them. Then stated that I qualified for a 3-4 nights vacation with a 2 night cruise to the Bahamas. Then I hung up.

- Alpharetta, GA, USA

I pick up the phone with "Hello?", and the spammer responds with "hello." I answer "Yes who is this?", and the spammer proceeds to claim she had trouble with her phone set and continues her speech of announcing that I'm being contacted as a relevant winner of a contest. I immediately then hang up the phone.

The first question was "Can you hear me." I answered yes. He then explained I could win something - I think it was an Orlando vacation. After his next question, I said "Who is ths?" There was no answer, the caller just kept talking. I hung up then.

- Syracuse, NY, USA

Calls multiple times per day. When I answered I said to do not call here, take me off your call list. Woman said there must be something wrong with your phone. I said can you hear me now, do not call here. Then I hung up. Scammer has call two more times since then.

The person starts out by saying "my name is Joe." And this is a recorded line. Then, I understand someone in your home may have a medical condition. That is when I hang up after I ask them to not call again. I receive a call from this number a few times a week.

- Lawrenceville, GA, USA

Always Asked Can You Hear Me, then proceeded with a recording that I have won a free trip, or free cruise. Some wanting to help me reduce my credit cart debt. After saying I'm not interested I realize it's a recording and hang up.

Haven't been a victim yet, but before learning of this scam have answered ***yes*** to all the above numbers.
