Three individuals, known collectively as (Vansh, Anjali, and Riya), approached me and requested an upfront payment of $2000. Subsequently, they scheduled a fraudulent interview. After the interview, they ceased all communication, particularly with Riya (Avni). I strongly advise you to be cautious of these individuals. Mr. Vansh will continue to contact you until you transfer the funds via Zelle.

I was contacted by an individual through the Freelancer platform for a job opportunity, specifically a translation project. The offer seemed legitimate at first, with the person claiming to represent We Work Remotely, a known remote job platform. After some initial communication, the person directed me to use an email address ([email protected]) for further correspondence.

I was instructed to complete a translation project, which was described as being high-paying, with promises of a significant payment upon delivery. However, as we continued the discussion, I began to feel uncomfortable with the lack of clear details about the project and the vague nature of the communication. When I inquired further, the person requested that I send the completed work first before receiving payment. At this point, I began to feel suspicious about the situation.

Upon further investigation, I realized that the email address and communication were not legitimate. The email address provided was not associated with the official We Work Remotely platform, and after doing some research, I discovered that the account was fraudulent. The individual I was dealing with seemed to be impersonating a real recruiter from We Work Remotely.

I am a single mother with a young daughter, and I am actively looking for work in this country. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree and have limited job opportunities in my home country as a journalist and writer. This experience has been very disheartening, as it was my first time pursuing an opportunity like this, and it was not pleasant.

I realized that I had been targeted by a scam, and immediately ceased communication. The individual has since tried to contact me again. I have not responded to any further messages.

I have not sent any work or money, but I am concerned that this person may attempt to manipulate or harass me further. I want to ensure that this scam is reported to prevent others from falling victim to it. The email address, project description, and behavior of the individual all raised red flags, and I believe this was a clear case of fraud."

I have used ZipRecruiter and Indeed for my job search. My profiles are public and I do believe that’s how the scam company learned my email address.

I received an email from the “Recruiting Team” at Oxis Therapeutics inviting me to apply for their position as a Remote Data Entry Specialist. I followed the instructions to reply if I was interested, and then received information regarding the next steps. The email was all spelled correctly and provided a lot of information up front about the position and benefits! It stated to follow the links and fill out two Microsoft365 docs; one being an assessment, and the other being an employee form. The assessment was timed and seemed legit! Felt like every other company questionnaire of how I would be an asset. The Employee form asked my full name, email, physical address, and asked a yes or no question if I have a bank account. The form noted they needed my address in case they have to mail me equipment.

After completing the forms the instructions asked that I text a phone number that it was complete. I did so, and received a kick back message that the number was blocked. After that, I googled the address and found a commercial real estate agent had this address available for lease. I reach out to the agent just to further verify Oxis Therapeutics. They confirmed the company was never a tenant of theirs, and the phone number the fake company uses is shared with two other fatuous companies.

Was contacted via text message for a remote position. They conducted the interview online and was made a job offer. They then sent me a check for $5000 and then asked me to send it out to the vendor. My bank flagged it and wouldn’t send. Then they asked me to change into cryptocurrency at a crypto ATM. I have cut off contact with them it was just so sketchy.

I applied for a job on Indeed.com and received a response from the employer (Mabylon). I thought it was legit because I believed only reputable employers would advertise their job openings on Indeed. To my surprise I received a response from the employer via text telling me to get in touch with a person by the name of Mica Beetz who will be conducting my interview via telegram which I thought was a bit suspicious. Anyways, I followed along just to see where this would lead me. Well, I passed the interview process with flying colors but was still skeptical. I was then told that the company would be mailing out these checks for me to get my equipment and software in order to set up my home office. I received 2 checks in the amount of $5.400.20 each and the expectation was for me to deposit them. Of course I did not deposit them because I am smarter than that! I knew it was a scam because no employer would sent just 2 checks without any memo attached to them! Not to mentioned that the checks looked fake!! I am writing this in hopes of helping someone who may have experienced this or someone who have never experienced this so that they are aware and know what to look for when it comes to scammers!

I was contacted by someone stating they received my resume and I've been shortlisted for an interview for a remote position. This company is not in the USA. One of their "Hiring Managers" reached out via MS Teams and proceeded with an online interview. Prior to the actual interview they asked for some information, including my address. He also asked what bank I use. (red flag #1) During the interview process he stated they have a corporate office in DE and are opening up an office right here in my little hometown (red flag #2). I mentioned I'd be willing to drive out to DE to meet and he became very defensive stating "this is a fully remote job and there is no need for me to go to their office". (red flag #3) This company is not listed as being any of the 7 tenants at that building address. (red flag #4) Later in the interview, he explained that being a remote job, I would need to purchase the computer hardware & software to perform my tasks, that they would send me a check to deposit along with a list of computer companies they are contracted with, so that I deposit the check into my bank account and pay a discount for my set-up. (red flag #5). During the entire Teams interview, I was scrolling the company website looking for any indication they were operating in the US (none found). I looked into their leadership to locate the person interviewing me, he was not listed. There were too many red flags, so I declined before giving any more personal information.

They made it seem like I was going to do data entry for the company then they asked me for my Social Security card on a website and a copy of my license. I didn’t put my Social Security card number in there, but I did send them a copy of my license.

I was told that my resume was chosen for an interview via Skype. Once the interview was done I was told that an Offer letter was being sent. For me to sign and send back along with a $50 Apple gift card to cover the installation of the software on the laptop I would receive since it was supposed to be a remote position. Once I did that, and sent the gift card information, I was then told that "The software vendor advised that a time tracker device be purchased and installed into the computer for accurate calculation during and after your training exercise. The tracker device will start counting once you log on to the computer to enable you to get paid during and after your training exercise. It is highly recommended. You will also be reimbursed for that as well. You are required to purchase an Apple Gift Card worth $75 for the purchase and installation."

At this point, I refused to purchase a $75 gift card. I was then told "He said It is mandatory that the time tracker device be purchased so that way the company can pay you at ease. I strongly apologize for the inconvenience that this might have caused you Alexandria. That is the only needed device required from you to purchase. " I was also told: "I further explained that you currently cannot make a purchase of $75 for the device, he further request that a less quality but effective Time Tracker device be purchased and it cost $63. Unfortunately, it is currently out of stock. I'm willing to take out $25 from my personal purse to assist with the purchase and when you get reimbursed by Tuesday next week, you can pay back. I kept it for groceries. I will proceed by making a payment of $25 now. kindly proceed with the purchase of an Apple gift worth $50 while i notify the software vendor to be on standby. " I told them "Again, I will not be sending anymore $$. You make the necessary purchases and deduct from my training pay." They became upset because I kept saying that I felt they were scammers. They said to me "This is not a SCAM. Put a STOP to your false accusation as it will not be tolerated." So we got to them saying "I am willing to assist you with $25. You are only required to purchase a $50 Apple gift card to complete the purchase.

That makes it a total of $100. And you will be reimburse by Thursday. I will have your Expense Reimbursement Form sent via email today.
