Government grant Reports & Reviews (662)

The person receievd a phone call from Washington DC saying they were the US Federal Grant Department. They said the person had been selected to receive a grant for $9,200 because they paid their taxes on time. They told the person that they had an arrangement through Apple and they needed the person to purchase $250 worth of iTunes cards at Kroger and that would be their registration fee. After the registration was confirmed then the person would receive the Federal Grant of $9,200 plus the $250 reimbursed for a total of $9,450. They said they would stay with the person on the phone while they spoke with the Federal Reserve bank to make the transaction to send the person the grant money of $9,450. The person asked what would happen next and they said that they couldn't send the money until taxes were paid on the Federal Grant of $750. And after taxes were paid, then the person would receive the Federal Grant plus the $750 back for a total grant amount of $10,200. The person asked them for their address and they gave the following address: 200 Independence Ave. SW Washington DC 20201. The information was googled and looks fake. This were the numbers that tried to scam the person who fell victim: 202-556-1350 Washington DC, 646-867-1360 New York. Report them as fraudulent and alert others not to fall prey into their scams.

$9200. For a government Grant

They call and stated they were with the United States Federal Grant Office. They said I had been awarded $ 15,000

And all I had to do was to go to the nearest Walgreen's and get a $25.00 Calling card and call them back and give them the authorization number in the back that you have to use when making a call. I started to laugh and told him to take his lies and go somewhere else.

I was contacted by phone by a Susan Smith, phone #520-251-7316, who stated she was with the Federal Grant Department and that as a tax paying citizen of the United States I had been selected to receive a grant in the amount of $9200.00. She instructed me to call a Marvin Knoxville, phone #206-569-8247, to confirm and verify my information. After being told by Mr. Knoxville about the grant program, I was told that all I had to do to finish the process was to send $199. It was at this time that I ended the phone call. I should have gotten more information but nest time.

Grant dept/IRS called me, I know it is a scam.

I received a call on my cell phone today. My caller ID showed District of Columbia with phone number 202-813-0056 Caller stated that I qualify for a $9000 Government Grant. It was free. I did not have to pay it back. I qualify because I pay my taxes. Government is helping families. Asked me what I would do with the $9000. I thought something is not right here. They did not ask me for money. Asked me to call back. They were getting the paperwork together. Advised to call and speak with John Scott in the Accounts Dept. 202-813-0056 X 1447. I called the phone number back. John Scott answered. He asked me if I would like to be direct deposit or do Western Union. I said I want cash. They would send it to me Western Union. I asked how much did I have to pay to get the $9000. He did not give me a dollar figure. I did not send any money or give personal information.

Someone called me and said his name was Benny from the Government Grant office. He said that I had won $1,900 grant. To get that money I would have to pay $199 through any 7-Eleven, King Soopers, or Walgreens to submit the money gram through Western Union.

How dumb could I really be for this to happen.. I am that stupid then. But got a phone call saying I got a 9,000 grant and needed to register by paying $250 but buy buying iTunes gift cards then saying to finish getting the application and to receive the money I'd have to pay $450 for the first half then $450 when I get the other half.... god I am so ashamed. And I seen someone standing on the side of the road needing gas and I couldn't think that I'd rather of gave all that money to that man than for it to go to scammers

I was called from a person who identified themselves as someone calling from the US Government from Washington, DC and told I was randomly selected to receive a government grant of $9,200. They asked to verify some of my personal information. I asked for a call back number so I could verify them. I was given to a supervisor. Again I asked for a call back number or website to verify them. The supervisor gave me the web site http://www.governmentgrants.com/. It says on the website that they are not affiliated with the US government. This is a scam. Beware!

I received this call first time was back in the middle of December 2016 from 202-616-0673. I picked up they said I qualified for $9,000 grant, they had my name and address, just didn't have my age, and they explained how I qualified you never filed bankruptcy, your name went into our machine and your name was picked for this government grant. He gave me an account #JF47475, the other account #JM111 I received today, 5-22-17 to call 347-325-1382. I called the number and the other guy I talked to said we can either send it through your banking account, we can send you a check to your house or you can receive it UPS. Then they said we need a balance of $1.75 for shipping and handling. I hung up on them. They have been calling randomly and I was not answering. They leave a message saying you qualify for a grant, and to call this number, the main number that they are  calling from always changing, one from Florida, another from Texas and another Mississippi or Massachusetts. There is always a foreign accent. When they call you they tell you your name went in through the government, and it went through the machine and that your name was picked out from the machine. The gentleman that called me and gave my account number he called me about 20 minutes later to see if I had called the 347 number and I said no. He called while on the phone with ScamPulse.com and he said his name was Robert with the United States Treasury Department and the number he was calling from showed up as 1085 (it didn't have the rest of the phone number).

- Cleveland, OH, USA

I received a phone call offering a $9000 Government Grant. The caller was difficult to understand. Caller said it was not a loan. I would never have to pay it back. Just as long as I did not have any felonies in the past six months. Requested $250 registration fee to obtain the grant. Wanted me to get some type of pre-paid card and put $250. Caller stated the $250 would be refunded when I received the $9000. They would send the $9000 grant Western Union. I did not send any money. I wanted to wait and call the ScamPulse.com.
