I received a call from (646) 968-0570.

The woman spoke broken English stated that I had qualified for a grant of $9,200 which according to her I would not have to pay back. She stated that I was randomly selected because I am a law abiding citizen who pays my taxes and has never been bankrupt. I was very suspicious so I did not give any personal information. When she asked me for my name, I than asked her who she worked for and she stated that she worked for the government.

She gave me a confirmation number and told me to call 202- 656- 6270 and a man would walk me through the steps of getting me the grant via western union. In suspicion I looked up recent scans and came across the same story. i did not call the second number. pretty sure they were gonna ask me for money.

Someone called and got my mother to send over 1000 dollars in 100 dollar iTunes cards and he promised her 50,000 in federal grant money. He tricked her into giving all her banking information and I need to know who to report this to and what I need to do now. I told him I was reporting him and he said I know I did wrong please don't report me and I will leave her alone.

I got a call Tuesday, saying I won a $9000 Grant. They wanted to take me through the process, go to drug store and get a Steam card, like a pre-paid card. They put the grant money on that card. When you get to Walgreens, call them back for further instructions. Brandon Cove, x. 1027. They asked if I was single or married, and if I lived alone.

A guy called me said that his name is Tom Willams, and I was chosen and approved for a government grant in the amount of $14589.00 , I asked do I have to pay anything , he said no.

Then he asked me if there were any stores near me , I said yes , he asked me go to the nearest store because in order for me to get the grant I need to finish registering the application , and I need to get a voucher from the store , he stayed with me on the line until I got to rite aid drug store , then he told me to get three gift cards $100 each called steam, or iCloud prepaid gift cards , he said that money will be refunded instantly as soon as they deposit my grant money into my bank account, I told him I don't have that kind of money , he asked me to go to Walmart and give them a check for the amount for the cards, of air etc they didn't take my check because there are no funds , I got the money from my son and payed for the cards, he asked me to give him the numbers on the back of the cards, I did , that was his supervisor named Mark.

He put me on hold for a min then told me that while he was transferring the money to my account the gov put a hold on it because my state requires that any amount over $10000.00 I need to pay taxes on it , he said that they are going to pay the taxes which came to $4000.00 but I have to pay $500.00 for some kind of gov fee to release the money or they won't release it, I told him that I don't have that kind of money and I think they are scamming me , ofcource he denide it and put me on hold again , came back and said I can pay only $200.00 , I said no , he said I'm going loose the $300.00 I paid and he's going to close the file , and said when I have the money to call him so they can deposit the money to my account +the $300.00 I paid.

I said I want him to give me back the money I paid he said he can't because they already paid it to the gov.

That's all what happened, I feel like an [censored] for believing them, but they were very convincing ll

On Friday, 9-29 about 5:30pm or 6pm a guy called me and asked to speak with me and his name was Ron or Ryan something like that from . Then he got to explaining to me that I got selected to get a grant from the government and don't need to pay it back. Then he said that he had to switch me over to another representative that could give me more information. That's when they told me how much it was $14,566.00 I believe. Then the lady Kim Johnson called me and went on and on and that's when she told me I had to bring $350 with me to Walmart or Walgreens to confirm the transaction, but the money never leaves my hands. I asked why did I need $350, I don't have $350, so she is giving me until Friday to get the money and she'll call me back. That's wehn I explained I don't have $350, and she said can't you borrow it, and I asked why do I have to have $350 for a grant that you are giving me. She said you don't understand, you are not listening, and I said why do I need $350. Then that's when she said I will put your application on hold until Friday to see if you come up with the money. She gave me her number to call her back on Friday, 10-6-17 202-417-6246 x0229. She gave me the address she asked me if I could come to Washington DC, address she gave is 202 Independence Ave Washington DC 20201. She said in order to get the grant, I had to bring the $350, and she said can't you borrow it. She says you are not listening the money is not going to leave your hands.

I had 3 options to receive it: give my bank info, check ion mail, or cash. I said to send the cash. The said first I need to got to Walmart, Walgreens, etc. to purchase 2 money cards, $100 each, and call them with the code and I will be sent the money. Said their name was Kevin Smith. This is a scam.

Scammer left message to call back and claim free grant money you are not required to pay back. Upon calling the scammer back a male answered the line saying his name was Mark from the federal grant department, again he explained I had been selected for a government grant, prior to me mentioning any personal information. I was then placed on hold to be transferred when the call dropped. I tried calling back and was hung up on by a woman.
