Caller an automated voicemail asking for a call back to fix an issue with my file. When called back, the person answered the phone as the "Internal Revenue Service". I did not give any personal information and did not continue the call. It is my assumption that this is possibly a scam of some sort.

- Columbus, GA, USA

Called from the phone number. Claimed to be about back taxes.

Man named Robert Campbell called

and left voicemail saying he was from the IRS. Here are his exact words copy and pasted from my visual voicemail. I live in Maryland, but the call came from Alabama.

Here is transcription...

"The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number 256-283-0716. I repeat 256-283-0716. Thank you."

Called saying I owed back taxes and there is a lawsuit against me.

- Collierville, TN, USA

I received a call saying this is my last chance & if I don't call them back then they will be looking for me. I know I don't owe anybody.

Received phone call, I was told I had a tax debt and needed to send money or law enforcement would be contacted. I asked what my address was and they could not answer.

Called 3 times and threatened to be arrested for not paying taxes.

caller leaves at message to immediately call back at a number regarding money I owe. Calls 4-5 times a day. Looked at caller ID on Comcast and these calls do not register. Like they never called. I do not answer nor do I call the number back. Very annoying.

- Edgewater, FL, USA

I was contact by phone and told the IRS was calling. The representative stated I was being sued and demanded payment to avoid further action. They said the suite was over a student loan but I am 80 years old and hung up when it sounded like a scam.

Caller claimed to represent the IRS to notify of a lawsuit being filed by the IRS for tax fraud. Requested that I immediately go to a local IRS office to pay or there would be a warrant placed for my arrest.

Will call and state that you owe money to the IRS threatens to take all your income and put you in jail. When you callback they will hang up on you. They are unable to tell you anything about what you owe or why and when you tell them that you will contact a lawyer to assist you with the matter they advise that they have lawyers available to you and they will handle the case.

Mechanized call said that we were in danger of trouble with the IRS if we did not call their number. When I called back and told them that I was reporting their call to you, they hung up.

Received a phone message saying its was the IRS and for me to contact this number back before it was sent to my local court house and so I called and he said he was detective Frank and wanted my full name and social so he could pull my file to see why I received the call

I keep getting calls about a debt from the IRS that is pending legal action. Of course, I have never received anything in the mail which is how the IRS operates.

Had a voice mail on my cell phone stating I owed the IRS $3000 in back taxes, was threatened with incarceration if I didn't respond, the agent (Male with a Middle eastern/India accent) gave his badge number and information to contact him at in order to send the money. I went to my Instructor and told him about my issue, he stated that it was a scam and the IRS doesn't operate that way. He then called the number and the person on the other end changed his story and then immediately started to harass my Instructor, My Instructor hung up and reported the scam.

They called my 20yr old daughter that she has a debt with the IRS they wanted her to give them a form of payment to clear the issue. I told her not to listen to it that the IRS will only contact you via mail correspondence. just want you to let you know this is the number they called from 347-352-6015 and if you call them they do answer as the Internal Revenue Service, they should get investigated before they rip innocent people off.

- Madison, AL, USA

I have received at least 10 phone calls over the last 2 or 3 days from an IRS scam robo call. The call states that this is my final warning. IRS is filing law suit and wants me to call (213) 716-1075. Over the last month, I have received approximately 20 -30 of theses calls.

- Huntington, IN, USA

I got a voicemail message. Not a person, just a "voice". Said to call that number about a lawsuit by the IRS. I have not worked since 2007.

Caller informs the answer that this is the final notice for an IRS investigation and that the answer needs to call back immediately. The caller must be anticipating below average intelligence to think people would believe that the IRS would use a phone call for any official means of communications.

When I called to number back to have my phone number removed from the calling list, an Indian voice answered stating that he represented the IRS and needed to take down my personal information. When I refused and informed him that he was not from the IRS, the line was disconnected before I could ask to be removed from the calling list.

They Say from Irs I know better they would send letter.they say I will be arrested if I don't respond to them.please let me know if they are true.I am having to fight cancer that's enough to deal with
