Medicare Reports & Reviews (348)

At 1pm today, May 16, 2018, a call came in from someone sounding Hispanic who indicated she was with the National Pain Center. It was hard to understand her. I gave the call to my husband who is a paraplegic and suffers with chronic pain. I walked away and after the phone call I found out the following: She asked him for his name and address, which he provided, and asked if he was receiving Medicare assistance for pain. He said Yes. She identified herself as calling from the National Pain Clinic and that she would like to talk to him about a Medicare provided pain cream. She asked if he had chronic pain. He said Yes. She said they would send some cream for chronic pain relief at no charge and no shipping. It would arrive on Monday (May 21st). She verified his mailing address and then requested his Medicare #. My husband was in bed and told her he didn't have that available. She then asked for his social security number which he gave her, She indicated they could get his Medicare number by using his social security number. The conversation ended. Although we have not been harmed yet, I am reporting this because she got his S.S.# and I fear identity theft. My husband's thought process has been affected by the medications he takes. Under normal circumstances he would know not to give that information over the phone,.

Telephone call from scammer claiming to be a representative from Medicare. Scammer stated that Medicare was aware I had back or spine trouble (which I don't) and that they wanted to send me some type of back brace. The scammer had my mailing address and birthdate. At that point, I told scammer I was aware that this was a scam, not to call me again and hung up. I have received this same call on two other occasions hanging up each time.

Person asked "is this..." I said why are you calling? He said there's been a recent Medicare rate increase. I asked what he was talking about and he hung up. I called Medicare and asked about it and he said they don't ever call like that and gave me the FTC # to report as a scam.

The scammer asked to speak with my mother who has been deceased for 6.5 years. I said that she has been deceased for a while and Medicare is aware of this. I asked what the nature of their call is. He said they were aware that she is deceased but had reason to believe that may be wrong. I told him that doesn't make sense and then he hung up on me. I called the number back from my caller ID (1-800-633-4227) and got Medicare.

This lady called and said that she worked for Medicare and they had changed their policies and that they would pay for a brace for my shoulder. She asked me to verify my medicare number and social security number which she already had. She said I would be contacted the next day and get verification as to how to send the brace to my location including my address. I never heard back so I contacted Medicare and they said there had been no changes in their policies and they did not know anything about braces. She had my information already but is not associated with Medicare. Her phone number was blocked.

THEY ARE SAYING THAT THEY ARE FROM MEDICAID/MEDICARE AND THAT I HAD REQUESTED A KNEE BRACE. IT IS A SCAM BECAUSE WHEN YOU CALL THE NUMBER BACK YOU GET A RECORDING OF THIS NUMBER IS NOT IN SERVICE. THEY GET SMART WITH YOU AND WHEN YOU SAY THIS IS A SCAM THEY HANG UP. THEY CALL FROM SO MANY DIFFERENT NUMBERS I HAVE BLOCKED THEM ALL OUT BUT IT DOES'T HELP. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN FOR $400 TO SOMEONE SAYING THEY WERE FROM MICROSOFT.

She told me they would be able to get Medicare to cover the expenses 100%. She gave me a license #1458808 and everything and knew exactly what to say. She asked for my social security # and I gave it to her. After I hung up I was sick to my stomach and couldn't believe I gave out my information! I know this is a scam!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Medicare. Stated they have made some changes. I asked if they could mail it. They replied there is too much information to give me. I need to speak with one of their representatives. I said I am too busy and hung up. I received a call yesterday regarding a back brace and they claim to be from Medicare. I have received these calls before. I just hung up on them. I do not have caller ID.

i received a call from a person claiming to be a Medicare representative. I was told that my doctor wanted to send me a back brace and if it was sent through Medicare that they would pay for it. I was asked for my medicare number and I provided the info to the representative. I was transferred to another representative that asked me for my measurements then asked me what color my eyes were. I realized afterwards that this may have been a scam.
