Wierd call. Asked for new and old Medicare card numbers, which I stupidly gave her. Wanted to send me a free back brace from Medicare for prevention of lower back pain. Said another caller would follow up within 1/2 hour to send the back brace at no cost to me. Wanted to know my pain level between 7 and 9. I told her sorry I just don’t have that much pain.

CALLED MY 84 YEAR OLD MOTHER AND CLAIMED TO BE WITH MEDICARE. THEY HAD HER MEDICARE NUMBER AND ASKED HER TO CONFIRM. SHE CONFIRMED THE NUMBER AND THEY TOLD HER THEY WERE SENDING A BACK BRACE. LUCKILY THE NUMBER ON HER MEDICARE CARD IS NOT HER SS NUMBER. SHE COLLECTS ON MY DECEASED FATHER'S BENEFIT. NOT SURE WHAT WILL HAPPEN FROM THIS BUT I KNOW ITS A SCAM.

Caller said they were from Medicare and wanted to know if we received the new card. They asked to speak to the individual, which I didn't allow. I asked who was calling and they said Medicare, and they asked if we received the new card. I hung up.

Caller wanted me to verify my address and Medicare card number. I was called on both my home and cell phones within minutes of each call. I refused to provide any information and was disconnected by the caller. Both calls were a person with an east-Indian accent.

Caller ID said 1-800-MEDICARE. Woman asked for me by name and asked if my address was (then she gave my address). She asked if I had received my new Medicare card. I said yes. She said she was calling to update my coverage, that the call was being recorded, then asked some health questions (if I had diabetes, high blood pressure, height, weight). Then she asked my waist measurement. When I questioned why she was asking, she repeated that my information had to be updated. I told her I was concerned that I was being scammed. She offered to give me her license number. I told her I was feeling uncomfortable and that I was going to hang up, and I did. She immediately called back and said my Medicare was going to be canceled. I hung up again and called Medicare. The agent said no one had called me from there, and that they would never ask for that information over the phone.

A gentleman with a foreign accent called to renew my insurance (never had Medicare). He claimed that his name was “Mark” and that was a big red flag for me. I was told that I should have a Medicare card and that it was red, white, and blue. I looked up Medicare scams while I was on the line and Snopes confirmed my suspicion. Luckily nothing was lost.

Call comes to cell phone as driving, caught off guard and answer even though I do no recognize the number. They claim to be Joseph from Medicare and that this call will be recorded. Can you hear me okay? I am not on Medicare but have been dealing with my father's health issues of late, so I say "Yes I guess so" and then they hang up.

For the past week, I have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be with Medicare. Which I found a red flag already because Medicare does not call me unless I call to request something back. She said she was calling about insurance for my knee problems. I told her that I knew they were not Medicare, and to verify herself she said my full name and address. But the address she gave me was one from eight years ago, so then I was positive she was a scammer. I told her this and she hung up.

This phone number called as a ROBO call and every time it's a different ploy. Medicare benefits, condos, trips. Always from the same number with different male voices and names. I have tried blocking the number and it bypasses the block. The call at least 6 times a day if not more. This has been going on for about three months non stop.

I received a call from someone saying they were with Medicare and they asked if I had received my new card yet. I told her yes and she asked me to get my card so she could verify the information. Once I had done that and gave them my number, she then asked if I had any allergies. Starting to become suspicious, I did not give her that information. I told her I didn't think she was really with Medicare and she said she was and for me to check my caller ID because that number would match the Medicare number on the back of my card, which it did. She then asked me for my height and weight and that's when I knew it wasn't Medicare. I was a bit suspicious from the beginning of the call because the lady spoke poor English and had an accent with lots of noise in the background.

Rec'd call claiming to be Medicare and that as an elderly person I was eligible to receive 2 knee braces and and a back brace free of charge. I did not accept, but I can understand why people would. be careful!

Medicare Call Scam

A woman who knew all my personal information claiming to be from Medicare. She was offering me free medical supplies. She asked me 3 times for my Social Security Number. She even told me to get my Medicare card out and verify the number on it. When I refused she said she would get back to me at a later date.

That call came up as New Jersey, now I'm getting about 5 calls per day from calls coming from Illinois. If I answer, it is the exact same sounds coming from the background, like a loud muffled call center.
