The website offered passport renewal. My bank alerted me that it was fraudulent and no payment was made. But all of my personal identity information was given.

Site looks very much like a US ferderal site with a tiny, tiny disclaimer at the top of the page. I missed it and like a fool I gave them my information before I realized they are a private company providing a next to nothing service and making a very good attempt at appearing like a US State Dept website.
Excceedingly deceitful and good at it.

Inadvertently clicked on third-party websites to renew my passports while using online searches. For example, search results may include fraudulent websites such as ***********************, which convinces the target to fill out a form; download, print, and mail; and pay a fee.

Made it look like I needed to pay for a passport renewal form.

- Hollywood, FL, USA

They pretend to take application and require all personal information. Including mother maiden name and all. very concerning

Website looks like actual website to renew passport

I thought it was a government website to renew my passport. I realized when my credit cards were declined that it was fraudulent. I canceled the credit cards and got a monitoring company to freeze my credit reports and monitor any suspicious activity.

This website was at the top of the google search results for passport applications. The website is structured to seem official. They instead charge a large fee for providing a place to enter all of your personal data (SSN, Home Address) and they request more data than even the passport renewal would require (including parents original surnames and addresses).

I attempted to purchase a passport through this site I gave all of my info I'm afraid they will steal my identity

Attempting to renew passport, first URL that came up. Looked legit. Believed it be official. Filled in form, and received completed "official" form. But, after research, now believe this is NOT an official form and, if submitted, will not be officially recognized.

Passport online renewal scam website. I put personal information in and clicked next to get to the payment page and realized it was a scam. I didn’t not put my credit card info in and I didn’t do the final submit, but I did click next from one page to the next after putting SSS and other personal info in.

SIMPLE-SIGN-FILE.COM charged for a free online passport application, and set up the website to make it look like it was for official US passport online application. I filled out a form using my daughter's SSN and other private information that I feel may be used for fraud going forward.

I searched for "US Passport Renewal" on google and clicked on the top listing. I didn't realize it wasn't the US Government site. I proceeded to fill in the info boxes to generate a pre-populated form that I would then print and mail in with my passport. At the end of the process, I submitted my credit card information for what I thought was for the renewal fee of my passport. The confirmation page said my documents could be downloaded from that page and that it would also be emailed to me. The email never came.

After realized this was a scam, I called the phone number listed on my forms and waited on hold. There is no one answering the line. It gave me an option to leave a voicemail with my name, email and phone number.

I feel so violated and frustrated that I wasn't paying attention and was scammed!

This site impersonates a passport renewal site, and charges $59.70 to fill out forms, and they are in no way affiliated with the state dept. Without realizing this, I filled out the form for my daughter's passport, and now I am concerned about her personally identifying information being in their database. I would like a refund as well as the deletion of her information from their servers.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! Posing as a government agency to process passports, you are requested to complete a highly sensitive personal data profile to complete the passport application. I posted my information to the site before realizing it was not legitimate, and stopped just short of paying for the service. There is no way to make contact with the organization backing the website unless you pay for the service and have an order number. The privacy policy on their website in terribly insufficient and does not provide the name of any actual company backing it, nor is the website's owner traceable through normal public channels. I am hopeful my presonal information was not permanently captured, but I am doubtful and now braced for my information to be resold to some other scamster. I have alerted my identify theft vendor and taken other defensive measures.

Found https://pass-travel-usa.com/us-passport/ as a result of doing a Google search for "Passport renewal".

They are a fraudulent website impersonating the United States Government and duping people out of their money under the pretense of applying for a passport renewal. They appear to be a government website for passport renewal at fist glance. They take much the same personal information as is needed for an actual passport application and then charge a $62.50 processing fee.

- Lamy, NM, USA

My son and I were driving in town talking about him getting a passport and I asked him to apply for a passport. He looked up how to apply for a passport and filled out the information using my phone, giving his SS#. They asked for payment and I paid for it with my saved credit card information that was on my phone.

- Spring Lake, MI, USA

I applied for a passport on a site that was not .gov

- New York, NY, USA

Scam made you think it was legitimate passport renewal service, has you enter all of your personal info (birthday, SSN, etc) and then requests a $60 fee
