Web Host Agents Reports & Reviews (116)

Just received an $180.00 invoice from Web Host Agents for "yearly web hosting". This did not sound familiar so I googled and found that they are a scam. Unfortunately it looks like our a/p person has paid this for the past two years because they thought it was legit.

Was sent a letter asking to renew website hosting. The Web Host Agents do not host our website. The letter did not indicate it was a solicitation, it said it was a bill / invoice. The letter asked us to send a check or renew on their website with a credit card. Receiving the letter lined up timing wise with when the hosting was up for renewal with the actual hosting company (Go Daddy)

Web Host Agents sent our business a fake invoice. We do not use this company for hosting. They state in the 3rd bullet that "now is the time to transfer your hosting..."

Fake Invoice attached.

The company sends an "INVOICE" to pay for continued hosting of my website. It looks exactly like an invoice with a Due Date, Account Number, and Amount Due. It implies, and uses obtuse wording, to convince someone that is gullible that they must pay the amount to keep their website active --- even though the website is located on a different host.

Horrible. I know there are many that have been scammed and forced to move their hosting by paying the "Invoice".

It reflects that the company has little to no honest character.

I receive a letter looking just like a Bill telling me to pay for my domain. The way it’s sets up looks like I should then you read it and see It’s a scam. But for people not as aware it just looks like a Bill.

It’s wrong. Anyone not paying attention will pay this and loose Their money.

This company is scamming people with this type of mailer. They know at they will get someone to pay it.

I attached a picture - they even have an account number set up for me. Scam! I called them and they talk about this letter in their automated message. So they think they’re covering their rear.

- Saint Cloud, MN, USA

Sent an invoice for Web Hosting Services. We do not use this company. Says the letter is "to renew your web hosting with Web Host Agents." We have never heard of them. We will not be paying the invoice.

- San Francisco, CA, USA

We received a fake invoice from Web Host Agents that looked real enough and to someone not involved in the web hosting at our company wouldn't have been able to know. Luckily I caught it before our office manager paid the bill.

- Owatonna, MN, USA

This company mailed me a fake invoice of $180.00 for web hosting for a website I do not own.

Here are the company details:

Web Host Agents

7306 Hwy 21 Ste 101 #315

Port Wentworth GA 31407(877) 415-9947

Realistic looking invoice was mailed to employee affiliated with a nonprofit corporation. The bottom reads, "This notice is not a bill, it is rather an easy means of payment should you decide to renew your web hosting with Web Host Agents." However, the previous language is quite forceful and would lead the reader to believe that the website will become unavailable if it is not renewed / transferred to Web Host Agents.

- San Carlos, CA, USA

Sent a bill for services not rendered.

I received an invoice today from web host agents at 7306 hwy 21 Ste 101 # 215 port Wentworth , Ga 31407...webhostagents.com/renew...for yearly web hosting and it is a scam! We never had any accounts with this company and I looked it up on the BBB and there alerts that this is a scam!

We received what looked like an invoice for web hosting services. However, upon further investigation (which took up valuable time), we realized the "invoice" was a solicitation. We believe this to be an extremely deceptive advertisement and want to warn others not to just blindly pay the "invoice" - in doing so, you will effectively switch web hosting providers to this nasty company.

- Palm Desert, CA, USA

Invoice came to me via US Postal mail as "a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due. You are under no obligation to make any payments on account of this offer unless you accept this offer...."

"Hosting you website with us will ensure your website remains active, that you retain exclusive rights to on the Web, and now is the time to transfer your web hosting from your current provider to Web Host Agents."

- Riverside, IL, USA

I received an invoice for $180.00 for a yearly web hosting fee. Our website is hosted in house. I tried calling but was only able to reach voicemail.

We are a non-profit food bank and last year created a website.

This year we receive what looks to be an invoice for $180 for webhosting services, using our URL in the billing.

It looks exactly like and invoice and in the fine print below the billing portion of the invoice it says "this is a solicitation for order of goods or services." Our treasurer almost sent them a check assuming it was our web service provide.

This is a most fraudulent way of "soliciting an order" and we're wondering how many businesses automatically sent them a check thinking it was their current web provider.

- Austin, TX, USA

I received a bill for $180. for this company to “continue” hosting my website. This is not the company I’ve used in the past. I’ve never heard of them. This is a scam.

- Madison, WI, USA

I received an invoice for $180 indicating from a company that does not host my website, artificially implying that I needed to pay this amount to ensure that my website remains active. Fortunately, I am well aware of who is my web host and when my payments are due.

- Minneapolis, MN, USA

Sent a fake invoice claiming that my domain name was expiring and that I needed to pay to renew it. I have never heard of this company, so I was definitely suspicious. After looking at my domain information, it does not expire for another three years and is registered through a different company.

- Saint James, MN, USA

Fake Yearly Billing of $180.00 for Web Hosting - Our company hosts its own website; however, my billing department might not have caught it and paid it. Advice I tell my staff is to verify every yearly service, dues, subscriptions with me the VP yearly or as the billings comes to ensure it is real and/or still wanted.

- Middlebury, CT, USA

Received this fake invoice by Web Host Agents for our business website made out to us specifically. Looking online I found a number of reports that matched mine exactly about this scam.

The letter does say "This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice or statement of account due." which appears to be legal wording to technically not be breaking the law even though they make the rest look like an invoice.

We have never done business with them. Ever. They are not our web host and have never heard of them before this.

The troubling part is there was a follow-up robo-call which referred to us receiving the invoice (do not remember whether they called it an "invoice" or not)
