Web Host Agents Reports & Reviews (116)

Invoice is sent with amount due for renewal of web hosting services. It states on invoice that internet services could be interrupted if you fail to renew services with them. Having NEVER used their services, I find the term RENEW and RENEWAL to be intentionally misleading, as is issuing the solicitation of services in the form of an invoice. This company needs to cease and desist this type of business practice.

I received and invoice from Web Host Agents in the amount of $180.00 dated 08/01/20 with a due date of 08/22/20. If you read carefully, it is a solicitation however at a glance looks like an invoice for services rendered.

I received an invoice from Web Host Agents for the the amount of $180.00. The invoice is in the form of a bill for payment of services. Our company already has web hosting from another web hosting service company and we have no affiliation with Web Host Agents. Reading down the list of messages on the bill reveals it's true colors. This is a cleverly designed solicitation for business disguised as a bill. Many companies would be fooled by this fake invoice and just pay the bill not realizing that it is not a bill at all. While it does state that it is a solicitation for the order of goods, it is a deceptive ploy to receive payment by masquerading as an invoice.

Received letter in the mail, attempting to collect $180 for yearly web hosting of my business website.

We received a document in the mail that is clearly meant to look like a bill. There is an account number, a due date, an amount ($180), a "tear off" portion to return with payment, and the option to pay via check or credit card. The document includes language like "to ensure your website remains active" and "you retain exclusive rights to it [website]" and even "failure to renew your web hosting by the expiration date may result in website outages and a loss of your online identity making it difficult for your customers to reach you." This predatory behavior is extremely concerning. Luckily we did not fall for this scam but I feel a need to report this business to prevent other consumers from being tricked by this dishonest solicitation. I noticed that there are myriad complaints about this business online, so I'm wondering why on earth nothing has been done to stop this!? These people need to be stopped.

- Milwaukee, WI, USA

They sent a bill for web hosting services but my web hosting is already paid for by another company that manages my website. I've never done any business with Web Hosting Services and neither has my website provider. My guess is that they scrape website owner information and send fake bills to them.

- Manteca, CA, USA

I received a fake invoice for payment to renewal my web hosting for $180.00 dollars. The problem is they are not my web hosting company and I have never done any business with them. I tried to call multiple times but no one answers and no live person comes on the line. The only option is to leave a message, the message is never returned. I also submitted an inquiry from there website to contact me back, and haven't heard anything.

I received a "bill" from Web Host Agents in New York for the amount of $180 for the nonprofit I work with. The document was formatted like an invoice, had a fictitious "account number", a "due date", amount to pay, and the scammers provided a return envelope. Although at the bottom of the document there is a sentence that "this is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, not a bill..." it is clearly an attempt to acquire payment and is extremely misleading.

I was mailed a fake invoice for web hosting. This company does not host my web page.

A director of the company I am employed received a bill from Web Host Agents that looked authentic. - A really good fake! It included a due date and fee of $180.00 for what it claimed to be yearly web hosting services for my company's website.

It is only if you read the print closely that you'll see a line that reads: This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due.

When I Googled about this company (Web Host Agents), I came across other complaints on Better Business Bureau and they had a grade of F.

I have included an image with my company's information blurred out.

Fake invoice/supplier

I received a letter in the mail that looked like an invoice. There was an account number, due date, amount, and "Make checks payable to:"

There were several lengthy bullets in the messages section that have statements including: "please make checks payable to" and "Hosting your website with us will ensure your website remains active..." and ends with "This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due. You are under no obligation to make any payments on account of this offer unless you accept this offer. This notice is not a bill, it is rather an easy means of payment should you decide to renew your web hosting with Web Host Agents."

This is misleading as the rest of the page looks like an invoice, and this is not the company that hosts my website. It would not be renewing, rather, transferring of web hosting. They are also charging about $40 more than my actual web hosting company that I paid a month prior.

The mailer looks exactly the same as an invoice with all the corresponding details included: fake account number, fake dates, and copy & pasted legal jargon.

- San Marcos, CA, USA

We received an invoice in the mail for our school’s website. After details on how to make the payment and what to do if we wanted to switch the paperless invoices moving forward I read this:

“Hosting your website with us will ensure your website remains active, that you retain exclusive rights to it on the Web, and now is the time to transfer your web hosting from your current provider to Web Host Agents.”

The timing of this fake invoice is also interesting since most PTA boards change in May they probably get plenty of people that miss the find print. It is disappointing that a company would target a non- profit that raises funds for school programming.

They send an amount due statement, with payment slip for West Hosting Services. When I called the number it said it is just solicitation. But it is made to look like an invoice that many businesses may just pay, without research.

- Canyon Lake, TX, USA

Scammer sent fake invoice for web hosting services which included my actual web site info.

- San Jose, CA, USA

Web Host Agents sent what appears to be an invoice, with Due Date, invoice stub, due amount of $180.00, and credit card payment info. Fraudulently crafted to like a bill to renew annual website hosting. We do not have a current account with this vendor. An embedded note the text says: "This is a solicitation for the order of goods and services, or both, not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due." Calling their 877-415-9947 number and all listed options just play a message indicating that it is not a bill. Pressing option 9 allowed recording of a voicemail, left a complaint, but have not received any response.

- Guilford, CT, USA

Send an invoice claiming to be from “Web Host Agents,” and ask for payment to host the recipient’s website so it remains active and is not taken down. They pressure you to act quickly of face the consequences. There's plenty of verbiage meant to be confusing. They will claim their "get-out " is a sentence indicating it is a solicitation.

The design is an invoice. They are trying to steal. SHUT THEM DOWN.

Sent an invoice requesting payment for web hosting. Says if you don't renew web hosting might experience outages.

- Castle Rock, CO, USA

Do not pay this bill. It is marketing only.

- Montrose, CO, USA
