Web Host Agents Reports & Reviews (116)

Our office manger received an invoice from Web Host Agents with an amount due of $190.00 and asking us to inclose return payment or pay by credit card. We have NO contract with this company and have NEVER had a contract with this company. When our office manager called the number 1-877-415-9947 it went into an endless loop. NEVER ever do any business with a company like this.

Web Host Agents somehow scraped my private address and sent an invoice complete with fake Account No., FALSE due date, and intimidating language implying my website ownership could be at risk if I didn't renew my website with their agency. Also, they included a "PAST DUE" table seen at the bottom of legitimate invoices, for an added fear factor and additional deception. There is a disclaimer buried in the middle of a messages section; however, there is no information on the web indicating this company actually provides web hosting. The amount due on my invoice is $190.00

Invoice received with return addressed envelope for yearly web hosting. Called # on invoice and a recorded message said to leave a message and regarding marketing mailer received (the invoice??). If this is a marketing piece it is a total scam to get people (businesses) to pay for a service they are not using or need.

Using an invoice as a marketing is a total SCAM!!

I received an invoice-like item for web hosting even though this is not my hosting company. It does state (in the middle of a paragraph) that it is not a bill or invoice, but the appearance is highly deceptive and clearly meant to scare businesses that they are about to let their web sites expire.

Our company received this "Invoice" in the mail yesterday, April 1, 2019. When I received it I started questioning who Web Host Agents were as I know we do not do business with them and they do not have anything to do with our Webpage. I contacted the ScamPulse.com locally and told them what I had received and they looked into it and asked that I file a complaaint. I think this is a classic scam and had I not questioned this, it very well could have been paid and not only would we have been taken montarily but our web service would have been taken over by them. We do not want them to contact again by mail or phone.

got a bill in the mail for 190.00 for web hosting demanding payment when I never head of the company and the web site they are hosting is my llc not my dba.

Sending out a solicitation that is in the form of an invoice, including a due date and amount due. Some people could be fooled and not see the highlighted print embedded in the message saying that it is a solicitation and unwillingly pay for requested services.

Received a fake invoice at our company for $190 for "yearly web hosting" of our website.

I recently received a very misleading invoice that included an account number, due date and amount due for services with the above stated company in which I am not in any sort of contract with (see attached). I had to do some searching through my files to confirm whether or not this was the actual company we indeed do business with for our web hosting and it is NOT. Even though upon further notice, they state that this is a solicitation, they are still using sly words such as "renew", "amount due", "failure to renew", "account no." that can trick people into just paying it. A certain demographic can be especially vulnerable to this type of predatory sales and shady companies such as Web Hot Agents are banking on this and it needs to stop!

Was sent a letter in the mail to pay money for hosting my website. This is a FAKE hosting provider and a SCAM

They sent us a fake bill for $180.00 for web hosting.

Our company received what looks like an invoice. It has "DUE DATE" in large bold letters, with a date of : "12/21/18" at the top. The amount "due" is: $180. In the "Messages" part of the "invoices" it lists, in this order of importance:

1. who to make the check payable to

2. how to pay by credit card or sign up for paperless billing

3. that "failure to renew your web hosting by the expiration date may result in website outages and a loss of your online identity making it difficult for your customers to reach you on the Web." THIS IS CALLED **FEAR TACTICS**

4. a long paragraph at the END that finally lets the reader know that this is a solicitation....

Our accounting department processed this invoice and sent to me for approval.

Luckily, I recognized it as a fake 'invoice' and did not approve it for payment. Showed it to our accounting manager.

Received letter disguised as an invoice to pay for a service that I have with another company. For those that don't read the fine print, they will be out the $180.00

Renewal of business website and promise of guarantee to keep the website active. Website (webhostagents.com) does not exist and we don’t use Web Host Agents. It’s misleading and nowhere on the invoice is there a disclaimer that this is not an actual invoice or solicitation of business.

Received an invoice in the mail for Yearly Web Hosting. Invoice looked legitimate but once we contacted our website designer he confirmed that this was not from him and that it was a scam.

- Minneapolis, MN, USA

Our organization received 3 different correspondence that are designed and look very similar to most common invoices including information like: amount due (with filled in amount), account number (filled in with our company phone number), enter pay amount, please make checks payable to, amount enclosed, if paying by credit card, pas due (with a range of time periods to be marked). It also includes other misleading language like: Hosting your website with us will ensure your website remains active, that you retain exclusive rights to it on the web. Failure to renew your web hosting by the expiration may result in website outages a a loss of your online identity making it difficult for your customers to reach you on the web. While the very last paragraph on this document indicates: This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services or both and is not a bill. It is designed in a way that is very misleading and could very easily be misunderstood as a bill. As a responsible business person, I feel this is a blatant attempt to collect money for services not rendered or at the very least to take advantage of someone not paying attention to all of the copy.
