- Westminster, MD, USA

Scammer called on landline "representing" Xfinity/Comcast cable company, which we have. Offered ways to lower our monthly bill, said they had been recently sued by FCC for overcharges and they are contacting customers to offer lower bills. Sent us two very official looking emails throughout the process so we could change our password to get into our account (should have been a RED FLAG there but my husband didn't know). The incoming telephone number was 410-800-6817, and the scammer gave a callback number of 305-909-8081, both look like bogus numbers after researching on-line. After hanging up, the scammer tried to place an on-line order from HomeDepot.com for over $1065.00, which our credit card company denied and contacted us, closing my husband's card immediately.
