Asg recovers scam

Someone named “Carl” keeps calling and leaving voicemails under multiple numbers. They claim it’s to resolve a debt that went to collections. They never used my name in the voicemail or any personal information but provided a website “asgrecovers.com” to login to with my phone number and let four of my social. It reports I owe money for a “pay day loan” which I have never sought out. Also I’m an unemployed sahm who monitors her credit regularly. Now this person is texting me. Here is what the vm says, vm #1 “_⁠_ hey this is Mike with account services _⁠_⁠_⁠_legal your account has been placed in my department and we need to get a statement on your behalf if there's no intentions of resolution obviously if you do prefer an amicable resolution please call or go online and get this resolved right away at asgrecovers.com that is a as an account S as in services G as in grouprecovers.com it's asgrecovers.com or again just give us a call back at this number for a link a super important we get this matter resolved once and for all as it has been outstanding for too long as it is about law I a.m. required to inform you this is _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ to collect a debt thank you very much…”

I also googled this company AsgRecovery and it seems it’s a phishing scam try present itself as the real debt collecting agency asg recoveries llc.
An image of the text is attached. When I replied to the text message acknowledging that it was a scam they sent a very obvious text back. Perhaps this is a kid who doesn’t know how collection agencies actually work.

I received this same exact voice mail. I monitor my credit regularly as well and have no unresolved debts that I know of. The voice mail was vague in that it could have been left for anyone.

Multiple calls from different numbers claiming to be from ASG Recovers

Voice-mail left:

"Hey this is Melissa with account services group, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news here but your account has been transferred to our office and it does require immediate attention. Please contact us or go to our website to get this resolved. Our website address is ASGrecovers.com. thank you"

Both voice-mails sounded exactly the same, same name, same tone, both exactly 25 secs long. I immediately Google the website as I could not think of what would be in collections for me. Sure enough I came across this thankfully which eased my mind. There were a few articles saying they're legit but the legit company is ASG SOLUTIONS. Not asg recovers. I decided to go ahead and pull up the website just to see what they're saying or if they have my info. Sure enough nope. It asked to put in the number they contacted, I put in my number and it sad this account belongs to a Gloria something. Not even my name. So they basically have my number and that's it, they don't even know who they're calling.

Scammers often buy and sell batches of phone numbers in groups on Facebook and other messaging apps. There's no telling how old the numbers could be. Heck, someone could have had a similar phone number and miswrote it when giving it to some company that sells phone numbers for extra cash. They had the wrong name for me too when they were calling me. Interestingly enough, I've gotten other text message scams with that same name.

Got to automatic phone call I didn't answer it I ended up calling back I called back no one answered then I got text messages telling me that I owe it my payment didn't go through and that they would like me to give them the card number to reprocess I asked them why are they texting me instead of calling they would not stop texting they will not answer and I explained that is very unprofessional

Careful of who your phone shows up as caller

I missed a call that showed up as my Dr's office, listened to the voicemail and it said my account was in collections, which was weird. Went to the web address they said to go to to pay it, and this forum showed up. Called my Drs office and nope don't owe them money. Explained it to them and now they're investigating it as well

Just reposting to keep this on top. ASG RECOVERS is a phishing scam. They are using a similar name to ASG SOLUTIONS LLC, a legitimate debt company. Feel free to ignore any random voicemails from them. If you respond, it'll trigger a phase of text messaging from scammers. Don't waste time blocking numbers, they spoof them anyway so you'll just get more garbage from random numbers.

You can try calling them out on the scam in text message, it may get them to leave you alone. It worked for me but no guarantees. Ignoring them in the long run will ultimately be fine. Don't bother threatening them with lawsuits or lawyers, they're likely based in India and there's nothing you could do to them anyway.

Like many saying here I got their lengthy voicemails. A big red flag it’s that they never mention my name or any previous owner of my phone numbers name but acts like he/she knows me. The thing is I don’t have any debt. This company or scammers are acting illegally. Please report them. It takes minutes to report to the attorney general website, FBI website and BBB. Don’t bother with them. The time you do spent with them could be put to good use to report them. Stay safe.

Complete Scam

This is what the message they left me, i went on to there website to see what "debt" I had outstanding and it says a payday loan (which I have never done in my life) Googled the payday loan company name and its a scam company

Got this exact same message today verbatim. Not the first time. They call once a month on different numbers changing their robocaller and script every three months or so. Pandemic has put a lot of Americans in debt so they are phishing hard for people trying to fix their finances now that restrictions are lifted and people are going back to work. None of this is legit and it's almost impossible to find any info about the company outside of their own website. BBB and the AG and state AG's don't know who they are.

It’s a scam. Others that don’t owe nothing and have excellent credit scores are getting the same phone calls from this scammers. That’s how they are getting people that might be in debt so you can either used their services or get your info, whoever. I reported them to the attorney general officce in my state. Hopefully they would take the case. It’s illegal to harass people for business, nevertheless scamming people for private info.

Called me twice stating the same message as from many listed above. BUT...both calls...from the same guy...came from two different numbers. One was in New York, and one was in Des Plaines, IL. Very fishy. I called them back and the text response was from a 1-910-714-5823 number which seems to be (after looking it up) in North Carolina. This is a SCAM. Don't respond. They will eventually leave you alone. Don't let them threaten you as I've been over the years. Ignore this. You have rights to be served with papers if you truly are being processed or being pushed for anything legal. This IS NOT legal. They are trying to scare you to settle for less than the overall amount=stealing from you. I call them back every now and then and the numbers don't exist. Stay strong, people!

Asg leaving a message via my cell

Saying I owe for a 1099 that I need to go on asg recovery .com. Never stated my name nothing just saying that this would not go away that they would continue to call me. I went online put in my number last 4 digits of SS and the account came up saying that I owed for a payday loan. And the account had a routing number and account number from a bank that I've never had a account with. I sent a few messages on that page stating I do not have a payday and haven't for years. And that I would that information to my lawyer. Next day got a text from Craig stating that he noticed I went into the account but didn't pay or make arrangements. So I replied I do not have a account with the routing number or account number stated not have I ever had a account. And that it is urgent they get my name and information off of the site. And that I will continue to send to my lawyer. I sent several messages to text and said you text and I responded and now you will not respond. For sure a scam. Horrible

If they never even knew your name, that was a red flag. Next time report to the attorney general website in your state. The amount you wasted with them could’ve been use to report them, which takes minutes to file complaint online. What they are doing is illegal even if they were a legitimate debt consolidation looking for people that owe money, but from what I am reading from you it seems worse than that.

Scam Alert

These people have been calling me for at least a year now on a CC from over 20 years ago. Problem is, I traced it back to the original CC company and ASG doesn't own the account. I found the last agency that bought it. They confirmed they still own it, and due to it's age, it's uncollectable, not being reported, etc. I contacted an attorney last summer who confirmed ASG is indeed a scam. They had other open investigations for ASG already. ASG refuses to give you a mailing address for a C&D letter. Their employees have been rude and threatening to me on the phone. They leave multiple msgs a day, which is illegal. Do NOT give these people any money!
