Employment Scam Reports & Reviews (1458)

I have been applying to many jobs recently. I got a text saying they have received my application and told me a little about a customer support remote role for $25 and hour. Asked me reply with "i'm interested" if i was still interested. I replied i was interested. They told me to add [email protected] to my zoom for an interview. I texted back asking what company this is for. No response.

I added mary thomas to my zoom thinking we would have a video chat. This was not the case. It was text only asking me to answer questions. Then told me I needed to buy equipment and they would reimburse me. I asked a lot of other questions that were dismissed and was told I have a limited to time let them know if I would like to move forward...

Looked at this BBB.org site and saw similar patterns.

The Wilson alliance appears to offer part time jobs in cryptocurrency trading. They provide fake appointment letter, asks for account information for salary deposit. Next during “training” phase they ask new joiner to map cash app Zelle with their bank account. Receive $1000 in account credit and then spend $960 to purchase crypto for some investor and keep $40 in personal account. Entire transaction happens from personal account. They cancel the account deposit and “employee” is now obliged to pay the bank. Interview only through phone call.

I wanted to contact you to inform you of a job scam I was lured into. I found the job listed under the jobs tab on LinkedIn. It appeared when I searched for “remote job data entry.” The company is “LSB Industries Inc.” The company name, address and logo were used as part of the job posting.

I applied and was emailed and offered an interview. The interview was conducted via Skype messaging only, leading to me being offered the job that day. I was then emailed a contract and w-4 form to which I completed, signed and returned, with a copy of my drivers license front/back pictured. The scammer then had access to my social security number, knows my address, etc. The contract was very thorough and explained how I would be sent working materials/equipment/software/etc. I was told I would be in contact with a supervisor. The dates of me being sent equipment or getting to interact with the supervisor continued to be pushed back multiple times.

The Skype messaging continued and the ‘hiring manager’ instructed me how to use multiple electronic checks to deposit to my bank and then send money to ‘vendors’ via Apple Pay and Zelle. This continued for 2 weeks. I was told the money sent was being used to purchase software and equipment for my home office.

Once a check bounced and the amount was withdrawn from my account, the ‘hiring manager’ stopped talking with me via Skype.

I have taken all information, emails, Skype messages, and contract/W4 to the police and filed a fraud report. The police instructed me to contact IRS, BBB, Linkedin and LSB Industries.

I thought I was hired for a work from home job. I was supposed to receive packages and take pictures and return them to the nearest UPS or FEDEX store. Basic salary per month was 2000.00 and 50 per package shipped. Payment was to be per mo. I did these things and received the packages, I had a dashboard to go to and information was on that dashboard. But I did not receive pay when expected. I called and no one returned my calls. A lot of expensive products came through me, but I followed the so called employers directions.

The scammer advised that he will send me packages and I would have to open it take photos and mail it out using the labels provided in their website for a base salary of $3,000 plus bonuses for each packages sent I fell for it. I was never paid for my services and I would hate for anyone else to fall for this. When you’re going through trying times you can easily fall for a scam like this.

I received an email from “Impact Renovation Inc” explaining that I had a job offer from “LEAP MARKETING COMPANY” offering $23.75 per hour with various benefits including a 401k. I was asked to get on google chat to complete the interview. There was a few grammatical errors in the messages and when looking up the company, I couldn’t find one that matched the information given. I haven’t filled out information for banking or any of the usual forms you fill out beginning employment.

I was contacted by this company, saying that they viewed my resume' and offered me a job working from home as a shipping clerk. They then proceeded to send me all types of correspondence that appeared to be legit with the hiring process, although there was no in person or Zoom contact. Everything was explained by my 'supervisors' and 'managers' about the pay and how to ship the packages. I was encouraged to download their dashboard manual and study it. Long story short, I shipped a few packages, and things were going okay until my expected pay date came and went, which was about a month from the time of my first shipment. When I started calling to find out where the payment was, I suddenly couldn't get a hold of any of the contacts, and then I also wasn't able to log into the work portal. Called, texted, and left messages all day, and no response. That's when I knew for sure that this was a scam. Unfortunately, they did get some personal info per the employment documents that I filled out. It's awful that people actually create businesses with the sole intent to scam. In hindsight, there were some flags, but there were just enough info to make other things seem legit. SMDH!!

I was offered an interview through email. They then proceeded to conduct the interview via skype. After the interview, I was told I will have to buy certain accounting softwares to be able to do the job. Then was told I will be sent a check in the mail, which I will use to purchase the equipment needed for the job. They then sent me a Form I-9 and employee agreement, which sent with my social security number and ID. They then told me when I deposit the check, I will send them a deposit slip as well from my bank. This is when I realized this must be a scam.

I was reached out to about an interview. I had been applying on LinkedIn and indeed and assumed it was a job I applied for on one of them. The interview was scheduled for the following day where i was told it would be conducted on Ring Central, an app similar to Zoom. I anticipated a video call but the interview actually consisted of 11 questions via instant messenger - that was all. It was about 20min long. The next day, I received an offer letter (see attached) with the official name and address of the company. I looked it up online and it shows this company is permanently closed and, actually, that their CEO was just sentenced to prison time for FDA fraud (just sentenced as in September of 2022). I called the 2 phone numbers listed on the website, one was disconnected and the other directed me to a plasma donation center.

I don't believe this business is active anymore and the entire interview process left me with a bad taste in my mouth which only got worse once I found the company online.

The pay, benefits, and job duties are all very attractive and I feel could easily trap other people into believing it and giving these scammers access to their personal information if they believe they have secured a job with this "company"

Thank you for your time and consideration. I also have screenshots of the emails if those would be beneficial.

Received an email today identical to a past scam email I've received in the past. Found that the attached file the same exact contract from the previous scam as well. It included the fake contact information for the same hiring manager as well, asking me to contact them via Wire Secure Messenger:

Interview Manager:

Name: Jake Harvey

Username: @jakeharvey1

Interview Code: KP/HR -118

I immediately ceased contact and blocked the email account.

Intelli Solutions headquartered in Greece claims to have an office in Virginia Beach. Offered a client a bogus work from home job.

BBB note: Intelli Solutions Virginia Beach office does not exist.

They texted me about employment. I searched the phone number and the information is all false. It said Allegiance telecom inc. MD. The attachment shows their message.

I had my resume on some job boards for remote work and I feel all of them are fake

I am looking for work online. I was contacted by a company named Unitek Tech, website is

https://unitektech.biz

They offered me a position as Customer Service Officer, had someone from their "Human Resources" department interview me, gave me access to their online portal to upload all the usual documentation, CDL, I9 Information which has my social security number information, etc.

When I researched the company on Linked In, there was nothing to be found, I called their 888 number and no-one answers. Then I researched their address and they are not listed on the building directory. They say that they are "Sales Force Registered Consulting Partner"

Once I asked them about not being on linked in, and my other concerns they blocked me from logging into their website. Now, they've got all my personal info!!! Please don't make the same mistake that I did!!!

They even have a "company handbook" that I've uploaded for you!

Obviously I am concerned about credit fraud, so I put a freeze on my accounts with the three credit bureau's. What else can I do to make sure #1) I am protected #2) no-one else falls victim to this company? This is why I am reporting the BBB.

I was applying for a data entry job. When they contacted me told me they had reviewed my resume they thought I would be a great fit for their company. I was told to download the Google Chat app, login and talk with Desiree Crews. I did that. We went through a series of questions and she/he told me about the benefits and the hours. Seemed to be legitimate. She then told me to hold on that she was going to check with the HR department and when she came back online told me that I had been hired. They were going to send me a check so that I could buy the equipment that I need to do the work. Unfortunately I fell for the whole thing they sent me a check and then wanted a screenshot of where I deposited the check. I did all this and then realized it was a big scam. I called my bank and had them to put a stop on that check. They had their investigators look into this. I didn’t lose any money but the following week my Facebook messenger account was hacked and I can only believe it was these people Desiree Crews and Patrick Taylor (Financial Officer for the company) spoke with him regarding the check and deposit -could be 2 people or maybe just one person behind this scam. I hope that no one else will fall for anything like this. i know that I have learned my lesson

Company contacted me about remote data entry job. Sent me a check to buy the materials needed for remote job. Then asked me to Zelle money to their "vendor" to get the supplies. I have deposited the check but have not sent the funds to their Zelle or Venmo accounts now they are harrassing me to abide by company policy and send the funds. I repeatedly told them i do not want the job, stop payment on the check and they are getting very beligerant. Names involved - Mary Poter, wrote the check from AFH Real estate in Boise, ID, Larry Parker sent the offer letter John Wildt did the interview, hired me then proceed to harrass me to send the funds to Carlos Ramirez, venmo Account @carlos102 or Randaloph Miller, Zelle account [email protected]

I was contacted via txt about a data entry work from home an was given an interview via Skype with a person named Desiree crews and was told I was getting a check to buy "work materials" I found it very suspicious ... got the check next day and was told to email it txt a Patrick Taylor they started asking me how soon i can get to the bank and suck ..... i told myself again this dosen't seem right so i did not go through with it!

I got a text message from an Elizabeth Nielsen claiming to be an HR assistant inviting me to an interview for a Data Clerk position with training at $16/hr and after two weeks I’d make $27/hr.

I sent my resume and did the online interview and later received an offer letter stating, “ Biotech Group Inc is pleased to offer you the position of a Data Entry Clerk although there seems to be a situation. The Companys' approved vendor is running a skeletal workforce and would be unable to make shipment of the required office equipment to you at this time. We sourced for a new vendor whose payment methods are limited to Apple Pay, Zelle and Venmo, which are currently not available to the Company.

If the aforementioned payment methods are readily available to you, Biotech Group will be happy to send you a check. You are to use the funds from this check to complete the payment to the new vendor. Kindly advise if the aforementioned payment methods are available to you and that the Company can rely on your full trust, commitment and diligence in carrying out this task.” I later learned that they send you a check and it’ll bounce.

Don’t wast your time or get your hopes up with these people. I googled the number and found out they have also pretended to be other companies.
