They said they were filing a lawsuit against me. They said they had my tax records and I needed to contact them to assist me in handling the case. The number they asked me to call was 509-346-6037. - Bryan, TX, USA

I received a call on Oct. 23, 2015 and another one on Oct. 26, 2015 stating that they were from the IRS and they were going to file charges against me if I did not call them back. The two different phone numbers that they called from were 509-356-6057 and 253-336-5325. I did not call them back. Instead I called the ScamPulse.com.

- Memphis, TN, USA

i received a recording on my answering machine from a robocall that said a lawsuit has been filed against me by the IRS for non-payment of taxes. It said to get more information, call this number. I didn't write number down because I thought it was hoax since I've heard that the IRS doesn't call you. I called number that was displayed on my caller ID and it was answered by a female with an Asian accent. I told her about the recording saying a lawsuit had been filed against me. She asked for my phone number, and when I gave her the number, she referred to me with my grandmother's name, because this number is my 100 year old grandmother's number. She said the IRS had filed a lawsuit against me because of money owed on my 2008 - 2013 taxes. She said it wasn't that you didn't pay your taxes, but there was a calculation error. The amount she said I owed was $5800. owed. She asked if I was aware of this lawsuit and I told her no. She said the lawsuit has already been submitted, but I have to ask you a question - was this done deliberately or by accident? I got tickled and asked what difference it made. She got angry when I asked that and said if it was done deliberately, she would have to report me as having deliberately tried to defraud the IRS. She again said that they had already gone forward with the lawsuit. I asked her if I shouldn't have received a notice in the mail telling me there was a discrepancy. She said a notice was mailed notice out in January and again in March but because I wasn't home, a yellow sticker was placed on my door. I told her I have received no yellow stickers. She said those notices were now in evidence against me and were now part of the lawsuit against me. She told me I'd receive another phone call in the next 45 minutes telling me what I have to do next. I told her it's crazy that you'd file a lawsuit against someone without telling them. She replied that I needed to hire an attorney. I've been waiting for the next phone call to come, but it never came, and it's been longer than 45 minutes. I tried calling the number on caller ID back again, but it just rang and rang. No one answered and the call did not roll to voicemail.

- Brownsville, TX, USA

On 10/10/15 and again on 10/13/15 I received two calls from unknown numbers, which went to voicemail. After checking messages, I determined that the calls were from someone purporting to be from the IRS and from the same robo-calling system. The recording advised that I was being sued by the IRS and gave two different numbers (469-206-4414 and 206-956-8086) to call for details about my case. Since I had recently read about such scams in an AARP publication, I did not call for additional details. As of 10/24/15, I have not received any more such calls.

I was called and a message was left saying I needed to call them back - they stated they were from the IRS and were filing suit against me and I needed to call them back. I did call the number back and when they asked for my info I told them that if they really were the IRS they should be sending something in the mail and until I received something I could only believe it was some kind of scam. I also informed them that I would be contacting the BBB about them. The lady said some things I was unable to understand (foreign accent) and then said she didn't want to waste her time talking to me and hung up on me.

Left a message telling me I was being sued by IRS. When I called back, knowing they were a scam, I told them to get real jobs and stop scamming people. Iranian guy hung up. I called again and he said hello and started singing then said I think you have the wrong number, we aren't the IRS. I called back with my number blocked and same guy answered saying IRS...are you returning our call about your lawsuit. I said the same thing again. He stuttered and started speaking in a foreign language.
