Everything was fine until we met the property manager in person to sign the lease. We met at the Lucky's Supermarket in Columbia, MO. I brought my friend to help me go over the lease and he refused a third party claiming confidentiality, and when questioned he made a scene and stormed out of the store. The next day, I checked their website and it is now for "invited guests only". I was going to rent this property with my current roommate who was out of town for the event.

Our team always assures that all rental applicants are available for a lease signing *before* scheduling and would not have scheduled a lease signing had we known any of the "roommates were out of town for the event."

To have a roommate missing and a "third party" our team had never met, suddenly appear instead was both surprising and disturbing.

Our team member strongly suspected that the "third party" -- who aggressively pushed his "right" to be involved in the lease signing -- intended to occupy the unit instead of the missing roommate. Given all these red flags, we discontinued the lease signing process.
