Say Yes Phone Call Phishing Scam Reports & Reviews (243)

- Hailey, ID, USA

I was just texted. Hi do you still live in Idaho? I asked who it was and they replied. It's Shirley, you don't have my number anymore?

I then reported the scammer.

At 12:43 today my husband got a call from 208-609-9846 and they just ask him if he could hear them. He said "YES" and they hung up. We are concerned they will try to take something or purchase something we don't want. This needs to be stopped.

Received Robo Call with person asking are you there and I said yes and they hung up. I see this is a common scam where they record you saying yes then use it to steal money and I am concerned this may happen to me.

Caller asked if I was (he said my name) and I said “yeah”, then he hung up.

Kept on asking me to say yes to send a Google verification code.

A New York number called, a convincing robotic asked "is this [first name]" - after silence (in which I wasn't sure if it was a real person), it repeated itself, when I answered "speaking," the call disconnected abruptly.

Answered call thought it was pet place my dog was at. Kept asking me if I was the homeowner but using my daughters name which isn't the owner, when I demanded who he was he hung up. I don't think the phone number is a real one. I couldn't track it on white pages. He was trying to get me to say yes. Or find out where I lived. He was very persistent.

- Dexter, GA, USA

I was expecting a call from the VA nurse and was caught off guard with this girl asking me if I had security at home. She then asked me if I could hear hear? My response was yes

Then she hung up the phone.

- Fort Benning, GA, USA

Person called my phone. I answered. They asked if the head of household was present. I said yes. More than likely recorded my voice and then hung up.

- Thomaston, GA, USA

I picked up phone and said hello. Someone (a recording) said my first name. I accidentally said yes. I then kept saying (over the recording) do not call me again, but the recording kept going. I know I have seen on the news never to say yes to an unknown caller, but they caught me off guard. Now I'm really worried. This just happened this morning a little after 8am.

- Bellingham, WA, USA

The caller called and said hello a couple times and then got me to say “yes”. I remember hearing of this scam so I’m reporting the number here. It just happened so not sure if they will be able to use my info. I’ve already frozen all my credit months ago.

- Carterville, IL, USA

Prompted me to say yes “can you hear me”

In a questionable voice, the caller called my husbands name twice; when I did not immediately respond (as I was trying to recall who was calling) I was asked, “are you still there?” I answered “yes” and they immediately hung up.

Mr. *** received a call this morning. The caller spoke his full name and Mr. *** said yes. The caller hung up. Mr *** is concerned that saying yes may have given them authority to his bank account & credit cards.

- East Dublin, GA, USA

I recent got a call say I have a late car payment. It was an answering machine that asked if I would like to speak to someone to make payments and without thinking I said said yes. The number hung up immediately and when I tried to call back the number was no longer working. I'm a freshmen in college without a job and I've never had to use my SSN for anything except for school related things like loans and my school bank account so I'm not sure if I should be worried or not.

I had a call last night that id'd Zaxby's #750-1198. The caller was foreign asking if I was the home owner. I replied "no I am not" and hung up.

Today (April 13) I had another call 750-7957. The call was foreign and wanted to speak to the home owner. I just hung up. Later today we called both numbers back and they have been disconnected.

I don't know if it is anything or not but I didn't have a good feeling about it.
