- Lakewood, OH, USA

Caller said "can you hear me?" He left a message on our voicemail.

- Marrero, LA, USA

Scammer said that I was picked to receive a grant from the U.S. Treasury for $5000.00. Then I was told that I was picked because I pay my bills, have not committed a crime in the past 6 months. I was asked how I wanted to receive this money: Cash, deposited directly into my bank account, or in a debit card form, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Western Union. I said, Walmart. They then gave me an ID # and this phone # to call 206-596-0729. I was to spend the money on bills, home improvement, ect. I was not to spend the money on anything illegal. I never called. They knew my name, phone #, and address. I had several missed calls from their number, (510)246-8283 on Tuesday, March 14th and then I finally answered and was instructed accordingly. - I figured if this was real, just send me the check since they had my mailing address.

Said this is Josh can you hear me?

I said yes! then I realized it was a scam

- Norman, OK, USA

Asking questions about a car I never owned. kept asking questions till I said yes. Feel like it is a scam

- Thornton, CO, USA

Answered phone with two "hellos?". Then a voice came on asking, "Can you hear me?" I said "yes", forgetting about the scam being reported on the news. They said I won something and I hung up. This just happened and I will be monitoring all my bank and credit accounts. I want to make a paper trail in case this does become a victimization issue.

- Hillsboro, OR, USA

I received a text message today at 12:51 PM - "Your Loan Has Been Approved For Federal Student Loan Forgiveness. Call a Counselor at 408-324-7373. Reply STOP to opt-out."

Luckily I know that this is a scam but I would worry about anyone actually replying STOP or calling back the number, who knows what happens when you do either of those.

- Rittman, OH, USA

All they asked if i could hear them. I said yes. It was local number. Then the call ended.

A "can you hear me" and "I'm having trouble with my headset" type robocall

Asked if I was home owner and hung up when I said "Yes". Tried calling the number and got a recording saying the number was not a working number or had been disconnected.

- Morrisville, PA, USA

Received phone call, said hello, then they asked if I was here, I replied yes and they said ok good bye.

They ask "Can you hear me now?" and I said "Yes" then they went into a sales pitch and I hung up.

- Gilroy, CA, USA

Man with Asian accent called my cell phone. He said he was "calling about the Windows Computer". I said "We don't have a Windows computer, we have Macs. Who are you and how did you get this number?" He hung up right away.

I received a phone call on my mobile number from phone number 614-528-4382 on 3/9/17 at 3:52 pm EST. It was a recording of a female voice. After I answered the phone she asked, "Can you hear me?" presumably in an attempt to get me to say "yes", which I foolishly did. Then the woman on the recording goes on to say, (with a little laugh) "Oh I'm sorry I was having a bit of trouble with my headset." At that point I hung up. This is at least the 4th time I have received this exact same phone call in the last couple of months. It is always the same recording. I had never been a victim of fraud until immediatley after the first call when fraudulent charges showed up on one of my credit cards. The calls and fraud charges may or may not be related but this phone call is definitely a scam designed to get the unsuspecting victim to say "yes".

I received a call from lady, with a low voice and asked if I could hear her. When I said no, she hung up. I believe this is a scam. I did called that number back (1-513-796-6783) When they answered the phone they said that I won a cruise. I said that this was a scam and they hung on me. I just want others to be aware this is happening.

The caller/scammer hung up after I said "yes" to his question: "Is this [my name]"? When I called the number as shown on my caller ID just seconds later, I received a recording saying "the number had been disconnected....". I later learned that this was indeed a scam!

- Walla Walla, WA, USA

I suspect this is one of the "yes" calls. Caller simply said "hey Coffman". This is my last name. When the caller was asked "what is this about", they hang up immediately.

- Haysville, KS, USA

They said their name was Josh and it was something about a cruise or vacation. He then said "can you hear me ok"?

I then hung up. Someone later called the number back and they said it was a survey that was now closed.

Calls everyday saying that we have been selected to lower our credit card interest on our credit card. We do not pay interest on a credit card. It is from a foreign company using phone numbers that when called back are out of service. These are just the numbers from March 6-8,2017. When I talked to the person calling I requested that they remove my number and that they were a scam and they wanted me to hold on, so I hung up. We are on a do not call list. Very ignoring because 2 of the times the number showed up as River Oaks Apart (751-1511) and Johnny Beehner (858-1095). The other times no number. These calls have just been in 3 days. They called also last week.

This is a phone number which answered will give the infamous "this is Jenny am calling long distance. Can you hear me ok?"

I have heard of this scam before. The number is located in Banning, CA.
