I received a call from Amazon and it was a voice message indicating that there was a purchase of $1,000 made to my account and if I didn't make that purchase, then press #1. I pressed #1 and spoke with a gentleman. I told him that I was looking at my Amazon account and my last purchase was in July. He told me that Apple Airpods were bought and mailed to 49 Arcadia Ct., Albany, NY. He went on to suggest that my identity must have been taken and that it was possible if I was out shopping. I asked how the purchase was paid for and he told me from my bank account. I asked how that was even possible because I don't use my debit card for purchases on-line and don't provide my bank account information to anyone. He then told me there were 3 Amazon accounts with my name and that he would need to patch me thru to my bank to get this sorted out. I asked how he would know my bank and he told me he could see that I have 5-6 accounts and was that right. I asked what bank he would patch me thru to and he told me he could see that I used Chase, Forest, Capital One, and Regional. I told him I would handle things with my bank if there was any issues and Good-Bye. Please find this scammer.

Scam began with a phone call from a female, identifying as "Amazon Security", reporting a suspicious transaction on my account (I had made some Amazon purchases in the recent past so the call seemed plausible). I was then passed to female identifying as "Nancy," "Head of Amazon Security," relating that the suspicious transaction was part of an investigation, underway with the Department of Justice. I was then "transferred" to a male, identifying as "David White," a supposed officer of the Department of Justice. "Officer David White" then proceeded to keep me on the phone, gathering personal information for the supposed purposes of "the department's investigation into this "case" of identity theft and money laundering. I was scammed into withdrawing $10,000 dollars from my bank (two separate branches), concealing it in a small box and placing it through the back window, onto the back seat of a car that arrived in my driveway at night. This car was allegedly an unmarked police vehicle, driven by a supposed plain-clothed police officer. The money was allegedly supposed to clear my identity from the investigation, once verified by the "Department of Justice" as "clean" money, as a vital part of the "investigation" whereupon it would be returned to me in full by the same plain-clothed officer, by 10:00am the following morning. After delivering the money (in the box) and returning to the phone, the caller, David White, had gone and I could not connect with him, that I knew I had been victimized.

The scammer said the call is being recorded and asked me if I can hear them. I got scammed because I said yes! It was supposed to be an Amazon phone number but I found out it is not associated with Amazon.

The personal information I lost so far is my phone number.

My Amazon account was hacked. Scammer requested a refund from a previous order and put it in a gift card to try and purchase iPhone watches

- Vinton, VA, USA • Jun 27, 2024

Scammer called left message in voice mail about having to confirm an order that I had made for 1500 us dollars but did not identify the company they were calling from. I called the number back later and a person answered then you hear a recording of someone identifying them self as an Amazon customer service agent then you get transfer immediately to someone live with a similar voice but clearly not the same person with a foreign accent either (Indian, Asian, African or Jamaican) and they start asking (phishing) for your personal information such as date of birth, address, phone number, etc. In order to confirm your account identity (according to them). When I told them I did not have any Amazon affiliations or Accounts and I would not give them any personal info they hanged up the phone. I called 3 times and said the same and 3 times I got hanged up on. Then I called the real Amazon customer service and made them aware of the situation and they confirmed to me that they never called people up and never ask for your personal information and if they ever need to contact you, they have other ways to do so.

I received a call at 10:07am from a woman who said her name was Irisha Black from Amazon Customer service. she gave me her Amazon employee Id number AMZ770251 then proceeded to say that she was calling to say that there was suspicious activity on my Amazon account. that someone from Albany New York had created a second account from my original account and purchased an Apple Book Pro laptop and Apple Blu tooth device and that the package was being delivered to a place in New York. the total cost was $1537.35. she went on to explain that there were multiple accounts now from my account in Texas. all of this kept me off balance and thinking from a fear point and not on what to do when something does not sound right. when she said I had to report this to the FCC to get this cleared up and made the connection I hung up. I called Amazon and they said they never call like this. I reported this to their Fraud department.

Scammer called (it was a recording) using one of our local town numbers

Said they were Amazon and the order I placed this morning was uncertain...it was for over $1000

If I want it, hit a certain key and then I guess they would want a form of payment.

I hung up and called Amazon and they said it was definitely a scam - that they would never call and

I had no such order. So they told me to pass this info on to you. Hope it helps in some way.

Scammer called indicating a charge to my credit card was made today with Amazon.com in the amount of $1,000.00, and if this was not me to select one to stop payment. I did not make any such Amazon charge today, and since the number was a 585-402-2817 #, and I have never received a call from Amazon before; I hung up. Re-called, and a voice message indicated for me to leave a message, but the message did not say you have reached Amazon, just leave a message.

She looked up the number for Amazon Prime, and called it: 202-326-7302. They claimed to be Amazon Prime and stated that she had multiple accounts with Amazon. They had just delivered a bunch of laptops and a printer and cell phones. She had not ordered any of those and she also does not have an amazon account at all. They gave her the number to the "FTC" at 619-257-0007. She called them and gave them her SS # as well as a little information about her bank before she realized it was a scam.
