Can You Hear Me Reports & Reviews (307)

Asked if I could hear them. I think I replied YES. Called on 1/27 and again on 1/30

- Manquin, VA, USA

Noticed an area code of 301 (Maryland) incoming call. Since I have a home and many friends in that area code, I answered with normal "hello". Caller immediately went into a "Can you hear me OK? Getting a lot of static on my end." I responded yes and then he went into a spiel that I'd won something and that he wanted to coordinate getting the prize to me. I nicely said thanks and hung up.

This woman called said she was from claims and asked "Can you hear me?" I hung up

Caller said they dropped their headset and asked if I could hear them and asked if I was over 18 and had a credit card and transferred me to another number during which I ended the call.

- Myrtle Beach, SC, USA

Answered my cell. Man said hello, " can you hear me'. I said yes. Said I was selected to win something and I hung up. My husband told me of something he heard on tv that they will record your voice and then intercept your personal information. I have moved from Pennsylvania to South Carolina but my cell phone is still the PA number. Phone call was from the area I previously lived. Nothing has happened so far but I wanted to report the number.

The person - a recording - says nothing, and then "Hello? [pause} Hello? [pause] Can you hear me? I'm sorry, I was having trouble with my headset. This is Emily and I'm calling because you have previously stayed at one of our resorts..."

The only word I uttered myself was "hello" and I hung up as "Emily" got to the word "resorts."

Can you hear me

- Louisa, VA, USA

Two calls, one the "can you hear me" type who went on to start the resort spiel.

The other I think was a "you're the lucky winner" routine.

The caller ID said Richmond, VA., 804 780-9005. I answered. The caller said, "This is Josh from customer service. Can you hear me ok?" I hung up immediately. I googled the phone number and it was listed to Poindexter & Associates, Inc. in Richmond, VA. I do not know what is the connection between this business and the phone scam.

- Green Bay, VA, USA

Sounded friendly, introduced themselves first and then asked if I could hear them. I said yeah and then realized and hung up.

This local number called. When I answered, the person fumbled around for a second, said hello a couple of times, and then said she was having trouble with her headset, and could I hear her. I said yes (oops) and then she started talking about a timeshare offer. I interrupted her, said I was not interested, and hung up.

- Henrico, VA, USA

caller asked if I was ok on the answering machine.. I picked up phone and said hello. He said...can you hear me now? I hung up.

I redialed the number and it said: customer care - national police athletic league.

the number is 1-276-229-4197

they were hoping I would say yes so they could record my response.

Due to an article in the morning's paper I was warned

This is Richmond, Virginia

Received a call from a local number (possibly spoofed). There was a long pause after I answered and a female voice finally came on asked if I could hear her now. I responded 'yes'. She acted flustered and said she was having trouble with her headset, then she launched into a spiel about a vacation package I qualified for. She was talking about pricing, and appeared to be trying to get me to commit and pay. It may have been a recorded voice following a script. I hung up.

- Chesterfield, VA, USA

Caller said he was at a service desk and ask if I could hear him. I was waiting for a call from Dr. office and said yes. He said I had won a free stay and tickets to Disney. At that point I hung up. My son said he had read an article in the paper about that. So I reported it.
