Geek Squad Imposter/Spoof Reports & Reviews (345)

I have been receiving emails about a subscription for geek squad called to inform them that I do not use their services and dispute guy ignored all I was saying and keep talking about the subscription I informed that I was going to report for fraudulent transaction

I received an email from the Geek Squad stating my subscription had been renewed. I did not see any debit or charge against any accounts, so I called the number listed on the email to cancel the charge. I talked with a rep and downloaded some software he claimed would open a site which would facilitate my refund credit.

Long story short: I downloaded the software and it was able to take over my computer for about 30 seconds before I shut it down. I subsequently removed, reported and blocked the software: jpsupport.live. I then changed all my credit card and banking passwords. I am monitoring activity against the cards and accounts.

I believe they were trying to gather account numbers and log-in info on these accounts. I called these people back and they surprisingly answered. Told them I had reported them to the BBB, Consumer Reports and the FBI Fraud Division for phishing. They became very angry and tried to convince me they were legit. I asked why they had to use the software I downloaded to facilitate my refund, and they couldn't give me a straight answer.

I received three email that appeared to be from Geek Squad. Two yesterday and one this morning. It states Dear Customer your invoice GTX25336 for $349.99 is attached. Please remit your payment at your earliest convenience. I know it not from Geek Squad. Their logo is black, orange & white. I don't pay for Geek Squad. I did not open that attachment. I know not to do that. It tells me to view the attachment.

Both my husband recd emails from Geek squad . I went to Best Buy and reported it. Also we do not have an account with wells fargo bank which they are using for payment . 249.99 was charged 2/1. ctc stogner,[email protected] nbr 1 855 518 5849. other scam name is [email protected] nbr 833 377-5101 . mahalo

Last night I rec a email saying congratulations your subscription with geek Squad is now auto renewal. 453.63 successfully charged to account enjoying service. Call 1 (855) 640-1818 8am-6pme If you havent authorized this. So I called. The guy on the phone was of indian descent or something. I could barely understand him. He asked if I was David Foster? I said no, I also asked who is Joyce Hubbard books?

He then tells me misunderstanding and he gave me a dispute # then asked if I had a Apple phone or Samsung? I said apple. He then told me to go to ap store and download anydesk.com I then asked his name and his badge # or clock number. He said his name was Roy Martin. I said really Roy Martin. Then I hung up. The invoice from the charge was very convincing. I should of checked bank first. But I remember seeing something on my phone after watching one of those infomercials between playing games and accidentally clicked and I saw something about geek squad. Then the next night I was playing my game and something popped up about books. I didn't buy or anything with the books tried to get out of site. so i cleared all info out, then continued playing my games, I think a lot of these scams are coming from playing games on devices, or Facebook. so many pop ups everywhere. and the games, want you to download other games then you can't get back to the game you were playing. It's all messed up. I don't want my name on any of this to the public. I just want to help get the scammers.

I received an email stating that my request for automatic renewal has been processed and I will be charged $348.99 for another year of Geek Protection Service. I have never used this service, nor requested automatic renewal. I did not respond to this scam.

I received an email called the number and asked for a fake person and was told that he was unavailable. I then hung up and reported the incident.

If I don’t act my account will be debted!

I received an email invoice from Geek Squad for $384.97 for an auto renewal for their software. I was not suspicious because it was about time for it. I did not want to renew so I called to cancel it. They needed me to download TeamViewer to uninstall the program and refund me the money. They uninstalled the program and had me log in to my account and accept the refund. It didn't go through the first bank, so tried the second. Didn't go through. So they asked if I had a credit card and to log into it. I began to get suspicious and said no. They said that was the only way they could do the refund. I saidd no. When they were installing the TeamViewer I had to put my computer login in. At the bottom I remember seeing a reset password area but we didn't use it. They began to argue about logging into my cards to get the refund. The more I questioned them the more defensive they got. They told me if I uninstalled the TeamViewer It would mess up my Windows. I asked them to quit using the TeamViewer and it kept working. The computer then shut down and the guy hung up. When I tried to turn my computer back on it will no longer take my password. I now believe they have access to my bank accounts, have hacked my computer and changed my password and I am more than certain they are a scam.

I received an email saying they got my subscription, but I didn’t subscribe to anything.

I will not call them. I am just reporting this to the BBB. I doubt that they have an account number to debit, but I'll be watching for such a transaction. Thank you for providing the ScamPulse.com Scam Tracker system for my reference and for notifying parties who need to take action to eliminate scams.

I received an email stating it was time for an automatic renewal of geek squad. Said I did not have to contact the company unless I wanted a change & this action would occur 1/12/2023. I tried phoning the number they gave me on 1/13/2023 (18053176249) & got no answer. I called 1/16/2023 & told an Indian speaking man I did not request a renewal did not have an account & they were not to attempt to take money from my account. He asked if I had a computer & I said yes but gave no other information, repeated I did not request nor have a geek squad account. Then I hung up.

We received a email from Geek Squad for a subscription for Best Buy Membership. We never have had a membership to Best Buy. We called the phone number twice to get them to cancel this. The phone number we call was 808-229-3781. The amount the they said we would be charged was $417.00. Both times we called they said they did not have a computer to cancel it. I thought this sounded suspicious. We have not been charged but we are watching our accounts very closely.

I received and email about my Geek Squad subscription expiring. Time for renewal and that my credit card was being charged $299.00. I called the number provided and the person I was speaking with continued to walk me through the process and then continued to insist that I use my online banking. I do use Geek Squad the logo looked the same. But, no i do not use online banking. Then once i realized this must be a fraudulent thing. I tried to send the email to my folder, but a fight began between me and whoever was into my computer. They fought a good fight and won. They continued to try to punch in my password over and over again. I called my bank and they told me what to do and I had to have my computer and phone cleaned.
