Internal Revenue Service IRS - IMPOSTER Reports & Reviews (1072)

This phone number keeps calling me today. They have left two messages and what I have caught from them is that they say I am going to be arrested. I spoke with one of the reps on the phone who said she is from the IRS, I told her I was reporting her right now.

Both my husband and I have received calls on our cell phones in the last few days telling us there was a problem with our tax return and that if we do not call back within 24 hours we would be subject to arrest by the local authorities.

I an automated recording from this number stating they were the IRS and that they were filing a lawsuit against me. I needed to contact them at the number listed to stop any further action from being taken against me. I called the number and the first time my call was dropped (from landline phone) and second, it was picked up. I could tell it was in a call center and I could barely understand the person who picked up. I asked who I was calling and she said the IRS. I wasn't buying it. I said I had just gotten a call from this number and she asked for my name. I just gave my first and last. She asked for a case number. I wasn't given one in the automated call. She said she was trying to reach Patricia and my call was made in error. That was it. Weird! PS I had no intension of giving them anything more than a name or the number they had called.

Received a VM stating the "IRS has been trying to get in touch with you, this is our final attempt before we file a lawsuit. Call this number 302-722-6068" I called the number and it rang then went to the busy signal. I called the phone number given to us to check into our taxes and we found out they are still processing.

A couple week ago someone who said they were from the IRS .They said me and my husband didn't pay our income taxes for the last five years.Which I know wasn't true.

It’s an automated voice saying that IRS is filling a lawsuit against me

Got a message from the "IRS" who said the police would be sent to arrest me if I didn't call them back and take care of the money I owed. I called them back and they said "may I help you" instead of giving a business name. There was a lot of chatter in the background and when I told them I knew it was a scam and was going to report them she just laughed and hung up.

Recorded message stating: a lawsuit has been filed and a non bail warrant has been issued by the IRS. Call us back as soon as possible. They have called from 3 different numbers; two from the state of Washington and one from Washington, D.C.

- Palmyra, VA, USA

Message left by caller that I have 4 serious allegations against me regarding a debt and if I do not contact them immediately the local authorities will take me into custody. This is the second time this entity has called impersonating the IRS.

- Abingdon, MD, USA

I have received a few call from this number telling me about my debt to the IRS. The last call they left a message which basically said, since I have not responded to previous messages a law suit has been filed against me for fraud and I need to call the number back.

initial call was a voice mail stating serious allegations against me. Called back, lots of background noise, stated they were IRS in a foreign accent. Requested their employee ID and got cursed at them they hung up. Today was the 3rd call in 5 days.

- Columbia, MD, USA

I've had 2 phone calls from a woman claiming to call from the IRS- claiming I have 4 serious allegations against me, that I will be taken under custody if I don;t call within 24 hours, and that legal action will be taking place.

The first call was from 718-807-4999 on 04/23/2018 from NY,NY and is no longer in service.

The call I got today - same message , same voice, was from 845-809-3152 from Cold Spring, NY and is still in service.

Can you follow up on these calls?

Thank you

- Dallas, TX, USA

There was a voice mail stating an arrest warrant is under my name, please call this number. I called the number, and a person with a broken English claim to be the IRS. I immediately knew it is a scam, because IRS do not make phone calls like this.

- Carrollton, TX, USA

The phone call is computer generated and the computer says this is the final attempt of trying to reach out for criminal charge and in order to not be charged for the crime to call back to 201-416-3545

- Tacoma, WA, USA

A Mr. Jimmy Wells claiming to be from the IRS contacted me in an attempt to collect money from me somewhere in the amount of $4,300 claiming that I had improperly filed taxes from 2011-2017 and that a federal warrant was issued in my jurisdiction and that I would be immediately taken into custody if I did not immediately settle the debt against me.

- Wichita Falls, TX, USA

Automated message telling me to call about a legal matter with the IRS. Failure to call would supposedly lead to arrest.

- Nampa, ID, USA

I keep receiving an automated call saying that I have some kind of error on my taxes that I am purposely hiding from the IRS and if I don't immediately fix it I will be taken to court. I'm then supposed to call them back to get the problem taken care of.

- Greenville, SC, USA

I received a call from a very rude woman claiming to be with the investigation division of the IRS. She said I was behind on my tax payments and owed them money. She threatened me several times that not very nice things would happen to me if I did not pay, such as I would be taken out back and shot. She said in order to make the payment, I needed to hang up and call them back. She never said how much I owed. I know this is a scam as the IRS only contacts you through the mail.
