Microsoft called me, saying my computer needed fixing. I gave them remote control of my computer. They asked $169 for the repairs plus $15/montly for a "warranty plan". I gave them my credit card number. Fortunately, I was able to reverse the charges and get a new credit card. But I suspect they downloaded malicious malware into my computer!

A foreign person called the consumer and told her they are from Micorsoft. He told her that her computer had a virus. He instructed her to go to her computer and turn it on so he could help her. She didn't do it. The caller eventually hung up because the consumer wouldn't cooperate with his scam. She told him to mail her something and she'd have her attorney review it. The scammer was calling from a NY phone number (718) 238-2428.

I got a call (250-383-6894) from a man telling me "there is something wrong with your computer." I replied I didn't own a computer. He insisted I owned a laptop. I replied No, I don't own ANY kind of computing equipment. He kept insisting that I did. I hung up.

Got a popup on her computer telling her to call Microsoft. She called and gave them control of her computer. It locked up and cannot be used. Told her that it would cost her to update McAfee, took $299.49 through PayPal.

Call her multiple time and attempt to get her to pay more to fix it, but she refuses.

Name on PayPal charge came from Dheerajraio.

Consumer put a computer on layaway at WalMart and started receiving calls from someone saying that they were with Microsoft and that there was something wrong with the computer, before it was in her possession. WalMart employee had sold her computer to the wrong customer (with her information- could be how they got her number). consumer got a replacement from WalMart and started getting more calls. The caller informed her that there was something wrong with her computer and that they would reimburse her the cost of her computer and repair it if she gave them access to her computer and the credit card number that she purchased the computer with. They took $400 from her card and continue to invade her computer whenever anyone tries to use it.

She has filed a complaint with her local PD as well as with the FTC.

Gentleman saw a pop-up on his computer alerting him that his computer had been hacked. The pop-up advised him to call "Microsoft Support" for assistance. He spoke with a man with an accent who requested control of his computer. He gave the man permission to access his computer.

The man requested $199.99 to fix his computer. The caller refused to pay or give out his social to the man with "Microsoft".

Now the caller cannot use his computer.

A woman with an east indian accent called saying she was from Windows support. They had received error messages from my computer and asked me to get it. I said I have it, and that my computer is fine, I don't have windows since I own a Mac. They called from what I think is a phished number Laurie Smith 1-202-421-9253.

They call my house two or more times a week, a foreign voice saying they are from Microsoft and my computer is having problems. The number on my phone ID is from Seattle, Wa. 206-777-1088.

I usually hangup, tell them I don't have a computer, or tell them to stop calling.

Female caller left message on my phone saying that my license key for Microsoft Windows had expired and I needed to call 855-539-4914 immediately or I would lose access to windows.

This is obviously a scam because you don't get a call from Microsoft about their software and their license key does not expire.

I did NOT call the toll free phone number, but I'm assuming if you did call them, they'd ask for your credit card number to renew the "license key"

Consumer was contacted by someone claiming to be from Microsoft @ 855-539-4917. He was told they received a message from his computer stating his "key" had expired. They required access to his computer and while on the computer a payment screen appeared and he entered his checking account information. They asked for $500 as payment for services, which he provided.

A person claiming to be from the "technical depart" at phone number (218)314-3541 called and said they were noticing several errors coming from my computer and wanted to ask me questions. I asked where he was from again and he said Microsoft this time (he did not say that the first time).

I told him the call was suspicious and requested proof. He instantly got upset and asked why I thought the call was suspicious, then he offered to give me my Microsoft product license for Windows. I said ok, give me that and your phone number and I'll call when I get home (I planned to call real Microsoft and check if this was legitimate). He hung up at that point. I tried to call the number back and it did not accept calls (it just buzzes).

I'm assuming this was an attempt at identity theft.

Have been receiving this call multiple times. Man calls named David and says we have a virus on our computer. I told him I knew this was a scam and hung up. He wants you to go to your computer and give him information. First time he called he wanted money to fix my computer. Now when he calls I hang up. I still continue to receive the call.

Daily calls, claiming to be from Microsoft, calling me by name, wanting to help with my computer, because they claim it is sending distress signals. I tell them not to call anymore (my computer was lost in a landslide in Dec. for real) and hang up.

They call again next day, same story.

Phone calls come from many different states and area codes.

Telephone call to my home number. I did not answer but googled the number and most of the comments stated they were pretending to be Microsoft, stating computer had a virus.

I have received multiple phone calls from a company claiming to be Microsoft. They claimed my computer had been hacked and could I go on line and verify it.

Additionally, I have received calls 212-650-7149. I believe the called to be Indian, with a strong accent.
