Geek Squad Imposter/Spoof Reports & Reviews (351)

received email stating that geek squad was renewing a subscription for 2 years at an amount of 322.87usd which i did not order. email stated that to cancel call 5103232651 which i did. this led them to get into my computer to cancel and them trying to get into bank account which i did not do. he gave the name david hay employee number GK19941222. the original name of the service ordered was geek squad then the web site was ultraviewer and when he finished call he stated he was working with norton.

Received text stating renewal for subscription to Geek Squad was renewed with invoice #GCK3201 and dollar amount 189.99. Stated support # was 206-690-7003.

I received an email saying that they are renewing my Geek Squad subscription for me

It said something like this: PC CARE will expire today on 12/15/2021 4:08:21 PM your subscription Will Auto-Renew. Please Review Your Purchase Summary Below. Then they gave me the customer support phone number and an order number. Also provided product description which was called A/C TYPE Personal Home Product: GkSqd PC4 Care Device Windows Computer (4 Users) 1 Year Auto-Debit $438.17 then it said this is my confirmation email and this subscription will auto renew every year unless you turn it off no later than 48 hours. Then they provided a phone number to call and cancel.

I was confused because I don’t have a geek squad subscription. I called to find out what was going on and it was an automated system and said press 1 to speak to someone who can cancel your subscription, so I did. I spoke to a man with a heavy Indian accent, who at first said he’ll be transferring me to someone who can help with that, then changed his mind and told me to type in a web address. I started getting suspicious and felt that this wasn’t right. I asked him why he needed me to enter a web address, he said that’s the only way he is able to cancel my subscription. I asked him how he charged me when I don’t have an account with the geek squad, no answer. I then said I’m not going to type in some weird web page because this whole thing seems wrong. Next thing I know, the line goes dead.

Looking back at the email that was sent to me, I noticed it said it was for service for my PC computer…I don’t even have a PC computer, haven’t had a PC in appx 15 years.

Email said I’d been successfully charged $349.99 for Geek SQUAD PC Security. They gave a phone number to call if I wanted to cancel or change service.

Emailed me and told me my subscription had been renewed and I’d be charged $399.99. I’ve never used geek squad.

I received an email stating that my "subscription" is extended. However, I have NEVER used Geek Squad. I have attached a copy of the email I have received.

Today I received an email from what was represented as the Geek Squad. Announcing that my subscription had expired and my renewal for $299.00 be charged. I have never authorized any payment for subscription from this company. I contacted the Chat portal on the official Geek Squad website and was informed that they were aware of this scam. I also sent information to their Abuse hotline. I was advised to delete the original email. How, the person that answered at the phone listed in the email was very evasive; spoke with accent and broken English. When I questioned him more, he disconnected the call, but did say they were located in San Jose.

Called saying renewal charge of $251.30.

I did buy a norton subscription and have used geek squad.

They used a software teamreviewer.com.

Got my address, phone number.

I sent an email from my personal email account to betterbusinessbureau.gov.org (stupid me!!)

I’ve checked in with my bank, changed passwords to accounts including personal email account.

For part of time, I was working on my government computer so in abundance of caution, called my Agency IT, reported it right away and my computer is being “quarantined.”

I usually hang up right away. Fatigue from caring for elderly parents is my only excuse.

I received an email from Geek Squad with fraudulent invoice and confirmation numbers for a years renewal for Geek Squad PC-Care…in the amount of

$249.13. When I disputed the charges, I don’t own a Computer, the individual with a foreign accent ,instructed me to go to the nearest Target ,purchase a $500.00 gift card, mail it to him and then I would be refunded the $249.13 and the $500.00.

Received an email about an order I had placed ref # GPMLC-SLKHJ6-cEph. I called the above number and they said the company was Geek Squad. I asked them what the order was for and they said computer protection. I asked which type of computer PC or MAC and they said "all computers".

They wanted me to agree to a screen share of my bank account at which point I told them that this was a scam as I went through the same thing from "Amazon" - a purchase I never made ($1,000 iPhone).

Pushing email used to get me to call a phone number and get info. Large charge made me question wether I have actually gone to geek squad or my info was stolen (I have never used their services). I called phone number and the line has someone pick up identifying themselves as geek squad. I immediately hung up and wrote the review here.

There's a scam trying to renew Geek Squad and they are saying they are with the retail store from Best Buy.

Please report them and stop this scam!!!

I called and they ask about my computer

they tried but fail. I call and they wanted me to give them access to my computer to "supposley cancel the member ship. I was at work when this happen. I had email back that I did not order any service

Called after hours and he said that he would have to call me back in the morning around 9am my time. Done some research and found out through the better business bureau that it was a scam. They sent me an email about an invoice for a software update and subscription renewal. $364.00. that it would soon be deducted from my credit card.

Received this message, called the # and they tried to tell us this is a program that all computers in the world come with and if we wanted to continue using it or cancel, we would need to give personal details. Hung up and blocked caller.

I received an email from Michael Rivera that my order was confirmed subscription renewal for Geek Squad. I do not nor have I ever had an account with this business or have ever given them a call and given my information. When I did call the number provided, they wanted to get into my computer to access it and said they had to do this in order to cancel. I could barely understand them because of their strong accent, but did not proceed because they should already have my information if I really ordered anything. I have not gotten any deduction from my bank yet. Here is the email I received.

Received email from GeekASquad stating that they are automatically renewing my subscription for a PC. I never had a subscription from them. They said they can cancel if I provided information for them to connect to my computer; Ah!! that's the catch. I told them I would sue them for any renewal and that I was providing their information to the Better Business Bureau for Fraud. The caller's language is SouthEast or Indian subcontinent. They also have an invalid email 21@GeekASquad InC.

The cost of the subscription renewal was $221.18

Guy sounded pretty upset...too bad creep!

They claimed they were renewing a service. I didn’t remember signing up for Greek squad and they said to cancel the service they needed me to download an app so they could access my phone and tell me what to do to cancel the service. They kept trying to get me to access my bank account through Apple Pay and I told them I’m not putting in my bank information. They said then try my debit card. Luckily my back devoted my debit card without calling then. They were able to access my credit cards because the app they were able to see everything. This happened a few hours ago. I don’t see any attempts on my credit cards as of right now. I finally gave up and said I would dispute this with my credit card company because what they were trying to do made no sense and hung up
