Internal Revenue Service IRS - IMPOSTER Reports & Reviews (1086)

- Wichita Falls, TX, USA

I received a missed call and voicemail from an unknown number ranging from Apple Valley, California. The voicemail transcript read, "Ignoring this message would be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before the magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. The number to reach us is 760-810-4187." This voice message scared me because I did not know what it was regarding. So I returned the call, I got an answer right away and it was a woman claiming to be named Michelle Wright. She told me she could tell me what the call was regarding if she could first verify some info. She asked me for my name and my address. Then she proceeded to tell me she was an officer with the IRS and that this call was regarding that I owed approximately $2100.00 dollars to the IRS over a tax period from 2010-2015 and that I had three pending criminal charges against my name for this amount. They told me I made a flaw on my taxes and that I made it intentionally and that they were going to submit a warrant for my arrest. I told her I had not heard anything of this issue. She said they had sent me letters and even sent an officer to my door, but I was not at home at the time the officer came. She asked me to verify some personal info to see if I was being honest, and if I was honest, she would consider cancelling the arrest warrant. She asked me if I had ever received a traffic ticket, and if I had any criminal charges against me. I answered her accordingly. She said, "Now that I know you are being honest with me, I will transfer you to an officer that can discuss options with you to resolve this matter." She then transferred me to a gentleman who asked me how soon could I get the money to resolve my amount owed. He pushed for it to be as soon as possible and told me that if I borrowed the money from an institution or a friend that I could not under any circumstances tell them what the money was for. He said he would call me back in a few hours to see if had gotten the money ready for them. That was the entire conversation. I immediately called the IRS and checked my transcripts with a real agent who assured me that it was a scam call and that I owed no amount to the IRS.

Automated message saying a federal warrant was issued for my arrest for tax evasion. Gave a number to call back. I called it and the woman answered the phone claiming to be the IRS. Said I had not paid my taxes from 2011-2016.Went on to ask me if I wanted to settle in or out of court. I told her I would go to court. She Claimed federal officers were on the way to handcuff me and then hung up on me.

The person states if you don’t pay back taxes in the next 1/2 hour or with phone call, all your accounts will be frozen, assets taken away or ceased, and you will be arrested in 45minutes! They tell you call is recorded! A message was left that their was a lawsuit against me and to call back 816-366-8388. when I called back they knew my name and address based on my cell phone number. they told me IRS had audited me from 2011-2016 and I didn't fill out something about tips. That I now owed 6,000$ plus. I said I was hanging up and they said they were putting a warrant out for my arrest. I then logged onto the IRS account online to confirm what I knew which is that I owe them ZERO dollars.

I got a call from this number alleging that it was the IRS and that if I didn't return the call in 24 hours then I would be arrested by the local authorities.

I received a phone call from the phone number listed above, 315-888-0397, which had me very alarmed at first. They said they had not heard from me in 6 months and was going to turn me in for intentional fraud and a lawsuit would be filed with the government. I called the number back, which looked nothing like a number from the IRS and when I finally got an answer and started talking they hung up so I tried calling a few more times and call wouldn't go through or they continued to hang up. I then looked the number up online and found out that it is a scam. I felt I should report this number to you so others can be aware of this scam.

IRS scam - wanted money, clearly in a call center and not gov.

- Caldwell, ID, USA

3 phone calls today from 219 215 2280 left voice mail saying there was a warrant out for my arrest. I called them back and I called them on the carpet about the scam. The man sounded Asian and proceeded to cuss me out and call me by my first and last name. He used very foul language and I said I am going to report you and get you stopped and he then threaten me. He said he would get all my personal information and steal my money.

- Stafford, VA, USA

The caller identified themselves as an IRS representative and even gave a badge number. They threatened to contact the “cops” and have me arrested.
