Medicare Reports & Reviews (348)

I am 80 yrs old. I received a call from a woman who said I would need a replacement Medicare card. She said the red, white and blue card was being discontinued and she needed to send me a new card. I gave her my Social Security number, name, and address.

You missed your mother's maiden name and bank! If you're lucky, your Social Security benefits are direct deposit and they can't do anything with the data. You might look into id theft protection.

Good luck

My parents received a phone call saying hey would be reconnected Medicare cards. Due a recent hospitalization and calls I had been making to Medicare, my dad thought it was related to what I was working on for them. He shared Medicare number and some poi information with the caller.

My mother called and noticed Medicare.

I have gotten repeated calls. The last person to call gave me a name and call back number because I would not cooperate. I told them to leave their call back number, I would call them back once I was able to get verification they were calling from Medicare. We know how that turned out. The name I was given was Sam R ******** and the telephone number ************. It is so frustrating they call at all hours and you can barely understand them. This call was not from Medicare.

I was waiting on a call from a business. I answered an number I didn't recognize thinking it was them. The girl on the phone said she was calling on a recorded line and asked if I could hear her. I know better but I instinctively said yes. Big mistake. Now I'm worried they'll use my recorded yes to commit fraud from my accounts. I wanted to get something reported to be proactive.

claims to be from medicare.phone number is a spoof. has accurate personal info to seem legit (full name, dob, address).hung up on caller.

"I am calling from your medicare service provider. I am recording you on a recorded line. Can you hear me?"

If you say "yes" they could use that consent for damned near anything.

I received a call from the above number. The lady (of oriental speech) said she was from Medicare. She wanted to know if I received my Medicare card, I told her yes, and then she started to ask me questions about the card. When I asked her to repeat what she said she hung up.

Received a phone call from *************. That is a possible number used by my doctor's office (hospital). When I answered I man with a foreign sounding voice said he was calling from Medicare and that he needed to update my health information in order for me to receive a new card. I answered several questions. He seemed to already know some of the facts. It came down to wanting my Medicare number. He said there would be a free diabetes testing machine coming to me at no charge. I hung up, but he called back with the Medicare phone number. I was not sure it was legit, but I ended up giving him my Medicare number (dumb, on my part). He then said another person would call me back with details of the diabetes testing machine. In the meantime, I called the Medicare number and reported what had happened. I was told it was a scam and to watch my medicare statements for unauthorized charges. I had calls the next day from the same numbers. I did not answer.

I received a phone call from a man saying he was with Medicare. He said he was calling to let me know that I would be receiving a new Medicare card. Before they could send me a new card, the guy wanted to verify my information. I gave him my Medicare card number. I did not see the phone number on caller ID so could not report or verify it with Medicare, but I did call to make sure that my account was ok.

My husband who isn't very knowledgeable about scam phone calls, answered a call regarding his Medicare. He gave some information, until I stopped him. I had him hang up. When the same person called back, my husband told him, "this is a scam", and hung up. Same person calls again, being nasty yet firm, claiming it's not a scam. It's been months now, and I still get these phone calls, M-F, as many as 10 a day, from all over the US, and even Quebec. They are all seemingly Indonesian, with their accent. This is on my land-line phone, and am told, I could only change my phone number, to hopefully stop this.

This call was supposedly from Medicare. The man asked my husband if he got his new card. My husband said no, so the man asked for his Medicare number to verify his identity. He then asked my husband several medical questions and told him he would receive a knee brace. When I found out, I told him to call Medicare to report it, and he did. They will send him a new card with a new number in case there's any problem.

My mother received a phone call from the number above and said it was Medicare and they wanted to know her Medicare card number. She gave it to them and they asked for her doctors name and number. Then they told her she would be receiving a leg brace in the mail. They called three more times. Each time my mother told them she didn’t need or want a leg brace.

A man with a foreign accent called me to confirm that I was now on Medicare and wanted me to confirm my Medicare number with him, so that he could mail me a new card for 2022. He already had my name and address and phone number, obviously. Since I am new to Medicare but my husband is not, I told him that I’ve never received a phone call like this for my husband and that his card has never expired, and that I was not going to give him my Medicare number. I told him that if he wanted to confirm my number that he said he had, then he needed to give it to me first. He could not. He told me he understood and we hung up.
